ridin' into Fall |
It's "chooseday" again...and I'm linking into T is for Tuesday this week...where we discuss our creative outlets while enjoying a beverage... at the moment I'm excited to be drinking morning coffee out of our Halloween mugs, only brought out for October!
I trimmed the mums last weekend, deadheading them a bit and finding some new buds hiding in the thicket so hopefully they will continue to bloom for a while. Trees are turning or at least dropping leaves... the smoke continues to ruin air quality making being outside difficult. At least we saw the sky again this weekend despite having code yellow and red quality. The temps have been in the 80's too, not what we hoped for when we moved from sealevel to 6000 feet foothills of Colorado.
I found a prompt this week, where the host offers a question a day (https://www.kwizgiver.com/)and today's question is do you like your handwriting?
I guess I do... I think it's a big mistake to stop teaching children to write. Mine changes depending on task and mood. I had to keep a log of contacts at my social work job and it became more slanted as I had to write faster. I love doing calligraphy in my artwork now. The above image is an OLD recipe for minestrone soup, used often. I love writing supplies, new pens, new pads of paper, new notebooks!
I've been painting more this week, and this is from an evening spent on the patio for a few minutes one evening... a shared glass of wine, dh reading and me painting
cherry moscato for me, chardonnay for him |
as to studio time, I'm quilting my Halloween quilt today finishing up from the bulk of it yesterday
so it can be hung in the stairwell. I make a Halloween quilt every year, this one is 22" X 48"
I must go and make iced tea for the week, this time using a mix of cinnamon tea bags, and green tea bags... no we don't add sugar or ice, but do keep it cold in the fridge.
I'll leave you with the joyful video of a dog enjoying a leaf pile. As we age into adults, we sometimes feel silly playing, but it is important to find some way of keeping play in your life, just for balance, right?

Hi--no linky for the prompts. It's no-pressure. :)
Good morning, I love your halloween mug-that would be so fun to drink from. I am sewing up quilts this month too-looking forward to see yours completed. I love mums we just recently moved so next year I hope to do plant some perenial flowers. off to check out your video Happy T Kathy
Hi LeeAnna! Oh, that husky in the pile of leaves is priceless. That and listening to his person laughing and enjoying him. Gosh, and that nice crunch! Your mums look lovely - I didn't even get any this year. Thank you for linking up this week! ~smile~ Roseanne
Your Halloween decoration and mug are great. I have a few items that I have been putting on display, but I think there are some that I've lost track of. Now that I do just about all writing and note-taking on the computer, my handwriting has become less and less attractive. Maybe I should practice!
be well... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
I love that you make a Halloween themed quilt every year! Looking forward to seeing that, and the mug is wonderful! My latest project is a “play” project, important indeed!
I feel so bad for folks living in the areas of wildfire. I have family in CA and WA who have been very close to some of the fires. And I feel for everyone dealing with bad air quality.
Cherry moscato - that sounds fabulous! I may have to watch for that - if I ever actually go into the store in person again. LOL
I need a Halloween mug- so fun!! Isn't it great to still have lovely days to be able to relax outside. Just too bad about the smoke still in the air for so many:(
Thanks for the delightful video too. Happy T day!
Have fun with your quilt. I LOVE your mug! Happ T Day, hugs, Valerie
I love your Halloween mug. And I hope you share a photograph of your finished Halloween quilt. From what I can see, it looks great. I like pens, pads of paper, and writing journals too. (I don't do much of it anymore, so it's actually frivolous of me to purchase that stuff, but sometimes I can't resist.) Happy T-Day!
What a fun Halloween mug! I have mugs I only bring out for Christmas but love the thought of doing it for other holidays as well. Hope you get to enjoy your mums awhile longer. I'm still working on talking a couple of white mum pots into blooming. Happy Tuesday!
Very clever title, LeeAnne. I'm often stuck for T-day titles that start with T. Sometimes I just give up and make my own rules.
Very cute mug. You could use them all fall long. I leave my Halloween decorations up until after Thanksgiving. Then they come down and the Christmas tree and decorations go up. I love the year end holiday season. Can you tell?
My handwriting used to be very sloppy and was getting worse with age ... until I started journaling. Now I love hand lettering and faux-ligraphy.
Wonderful quilt. The husky - I can't stop laughing.
Thanks for a wonderful post. 😊
Happy T-day! Stay safe and stay well. Hugs, Eileen
Your minestrone soup sounds fabulous! I will be making your recipe this winter. Thank you! Love your pumpkin mug!
Fun Halloween mug ~ Nice setting to paint and spend time together. Your quilt is going to be so fun ~ I Loved the video! He made me laugh ~ we do need to play and laugh as much as possible!
I like the jack o'lantern mug. Festive. That is a gleeful, fun-filled dog :) Happy T Tuesday!
What an adorable mug, It's also incredibly perfect for T this Tuesday, too. I love Halloween, too,
I can't believe you make a quilt every Halloween. I think this already looks lovely. It will be really impressive when finished.
I love your ridin into fall vignette. It's beautiful with all the fresh mums and the cute cow.
I used to have great handwriting, but now you can barely read my writing. In fact, sometimes even I can't read my writing. I love your painting, too.
What a great way to spend an evening. Sounds wonderful when it's moscato for you and chardonnay for him. Thanks for sharing your art, your handwriting thoughts, your wines, and your cute mug with us for T this Tuesday. I got as big a laugh at the husky as did the guy operating the camera.
Love your mug! It's so neat that you make a new Halloween quilt every year. Halloween is so fun!
Love your mug! And your quilt is looking very colorful.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
I got a big smile watching that husky. When dogs have fun, it is pure fun, isn't it? And your HAlloween mug is just great. I love the jack-o-lantern. Hope it was a wonderful T day. Hugs-Erika
The husky cavorting in the leaves is the essence of joy. Cute Halloween mug.
Pat
Halloween is my favorite holiday so I'm lusting after your mug. I hope we get to see the Halloween quilt finished. And thanks for the smiles with the silly pupper. Happy T Day
A real smile-worthy YouTube video.
Halloween and fall quilts are my fav to make but I'm getting so many! LOL. Love spending time outside in the eves these days, esp before it gets too cold!
Ohhh I love our bike riding cow. Cows are my thing. The mug is awesome too. Do I like my hand writing? NO. I am left handed and in the 50's when I was learning to write teachers made all lefties write the our right hand. It was horrible. My mom had a big fight with the school over it. I did go back to left hand but I have never had pretty script. I agree with not teaching writing. However, it goes farther than that. My daughter is in a position where people have to sign and initial legal documents. She has to explain to people what a signature and initials are. It is pretty sad. Your quilt is beautiful and that dog is hilarious. I wish I had those leaves for mulch. LOL Enjoy your day.
I don't have many seasonal items. Perhaps we should get Halloween and Thanksgiving mugs.
And I wish my handwriting was as good as it used to be. I don't write very much these days. Calligraphy sounds like a good plan.
I'm a bit behind with your blogs. I didn't have time to comment on Milo fetching balls and I have just read your love story of how you met your husband. It brought back lots of memories for me as my hubby and I also did contra dancing, I think we called it square dancing or barn dancing.Later my husband became the caller (he was in a folk bad). The caller is the guy who call out the moves. (Ok you would know that of course).
Anyway, I digress, your halloween mug is great. I love the colour and the fact that it only comes out in October.
I love your bike riding cow too. She could be a Dutch cow. In Holland everyone rides a bike, and I suppose the cows do too.
You got me in fits of laughter with that husky. Sometimes I feel I would love to jump around in a pile of leaves, but then I sit down and the feeling passes....
Stay safe,
Happy belated T-Day,
Lisca
Your garden is looking wonderful still! Your pumpkin mug is fabulous! My handwriting ranges from almost a scrawl to neat and tidy - depends what it is for! That dog made me feel so happy - I love to kick through leaves, hubby tells me off!! Belated happy T day, Chrisx
That dog video was hilarious! My Belgian Shephard did this with snow, added with loud barking :))
Love the cow on the bicycle :)
I was a kindergarten and first grade teacher so I taught printing. Writing in general is less important I guess, but I think people should know both printing and cursive. I'm like you, I enjoy writing tools especially for artful additions to my journals. - Margy
