I Like Thursday # 519 buns, questions, school supplies and a poodle

 

with all the upheaval in my current life, I sleep and eat less.... one morning about 6 AM I saw the sun reflected on this house  .. very Edward Hopper like,   while waiting for Alfie to pee.....  

for this week's list of likes, the only post I am sort of able to do these days, I have a few items to show

I'm the bunny finder! I stop and watch even when Mama doesn't see them right away

there are a LOT of bunnies here right now

I feel like a shadow of my former self and look how large alfie looks! 

but we're together and he is a godsend

He has become quite the dog lover, we've walked with Tango and his dad, Oliver and his mom, and  last night we met a couple who just moved here from Atlanta with their beauty, Mable a corgie

what back to school supply would you like to have now as an adult? Fresh new notebooks? markers or new crayons? fat pack of ruled paper? lunchbox?  LOL  tell us your fave

I love a fresh new notebook, new crayons with their distinctive scent! with the sharpener on the back of the box,  picked out a special lunchbox each year with thermos of course. 

Actually I would love lunch tickets, and lunchroom ladies to make me a hot lunch each day! We used to buy them for the week and keep them in a flip top bandaid box in our gray metal desks




l made sausages for dinner, so I also made hot dog buns. Used my lovely perfect hamburger bun recipe that makes 8 buns. Instead I rolled half of the dough into 4 hot dog buns and it worked.

have you noticed when your life is changed, it's comforting to sort, organize, and reduce some things?

I Like thursdays # 518 books or magazines? summer heat, skies and a poodle

 

welcome to this week's short list of likes... there is a reason it's short but I am not comfortable explaining right now

My list as most do, contains a brilliant sky photo above

I'm not sure why I took this photo of sniffing...

despite the high temps
we still walk. In fact I walked with a neighbor this weekend and the two dogs got along great! 
My friend Tiffany has a labradoodle and he looks like Alfie's brother. Forgot to take pics, sorry

loved this grouping (not mine) the puff balls confused me....

Alfie and I did a bit of porch sitting despite the heat

He was tired from life, but Mama knows how much he likes yogurt so I tucked the lid under his nose to wake him up

I've been slow to do everything this month, so the library snatched two books back in the middle of reading them and no list to go from... If only I'd mentioned the one here!

when relaxing in summer do you like a magazine??   or novel?

what magazines do you like and what novels have you enjoyed this summer?

BOTH! I like home magazines and art magazines, quilting arts magazine, smithsonian but don't get it now.  At the beach or outside I tend to look at a magazine. I read on E Book now so glare outside is a factor. 

Tell me about your preferences so when I can think again maybe I can read them! 

still love sewing and was just headed up to try a video I saw when the power went out.... when we moved to Colorado the agent said don't worry about power here, never goes out! hahahaha

I Like Thursday # 517 ice cream or snow cones?

welcome to this weeks short list of likes. 
It's been a bad week but Alfie is still awesome and getting more comfortable each day. 
He always wants to say hi to people, dogs and is fascinated with workmen in the hood.

the conversation starter this week is 

ice cream or snow cones? 
I  liked snow cones as a child but now it's all about ice cream

a quick memory, DH and I visited Ben & Jerry's factory in VT the first time we went. They gave our labradaughter a cup of her own of vanilla and the three of us sat in the patio and enjoyed our treats!! 

Chelsea had never had her own before, so she'd pick up the treat roll it around in her mouth spit it out. Look at it
pick it up and repeat til it melted.
Not a speck was left

how I spent my creative week

 

I worked on projects in progress this week. But, then I looked ahead to Saturday's post on RSC but a color had not been announced. 

oy vey, it's generally too late to post your color work on the day it's announced and we only have 4 post days so I tried to reason out the probability and decided chances are it will be yellow or purple. 

so I worked on both! 

this was one of last year's yellow scrap quilts and I like it so much I hung in on my studio door 

I start by organizing the scrap bin by shape and size. This time I took out squares of certain sizes to put in my growing squares collection boxes. Then the tiniest scraps are put by the machine to jump start my month. 

not knowing, I chose to go thru this process with both purple bin, and yellow bins 

I did start the border choices for last week's piece, and thought I might surround this yellow block with purples but stopped here since I like the way this looks now

It's satisfying to use little bits just as color but to also see them turning into something... a tote? a table topper? book cover? 

speaking of books I ordered this but haven't looked through it yet

as I mentioned earlier I also worked with purples... the tiniest scraps became another cutie needlebook

pieced then machine quilted with metallic turquoise thread, the inside

batting scraps become the needle beds

then some embroidery stitches by hand or machine


and beads put on with the hand stitched buttonhole to close the edges


squee! my friend Cindy sent me a box of beads in the Swa---eeeetist little boxes. SO thoughtful, and what a fine mix of turquoise sparklers to use. PLUS 
I did the hand work while chatting with her so it was a double gift! 

(I also sewed all the buttons back to my pink shirt while chatting) 

french knots with size 8 perle cotton in aqua

it's been so very hot, which drains me of energy and causes sleep disturbances, so I am just glad to be doing much of anything but necessities like cooking, laundry, dogwalking

how's about a walk Mama?

and the calendar monthly flip reminds me of time passing by
