The prompt for this row of our do it yourself round robin quilts this week is shoo fly blocks. I don't want to do that so I took the block as inspiration and fussy cut fabric "post cards" to do on glamingo
still figuring out a layout and making it all fit...
in a return to my Sunday Stories... this prompt is from the Sunday Whirl, my story follows...
she stopped weaving for a moment, rubbing her temples to ward off the headache she felt building. Luckily there was a ghost of a breeze coming through the open window. Her loose hair fluttered around her eyes, and she pulled it back to look at the growing yardage she had made so far.
Spring was coming, she felt it in the slight warmth, the scent of the air and a faint sound of birdsong.
suddenly she remembered a story her great aunt used to tell her about
the bluebird who flew right in through her open door one spring. She
heard a scuffling and stepped to the door, opening it to see who was
there.
What a surprise and excitement that caused ! Her relationship with
Great aunt Leela was precious to her and she smiled just thinking of all
that they had shared over the years.
boom! the sky was blue but a thunder bolt woke her from a reverie and she returned to her weaving.
and for today's love song...

Love your story! You are such a good writer! Among many talents...xx
The flamingo fabric is wonderful. Hope you have a nice weekend. x K
Hi LeeAnna,
Postcards like the polaroids from long ago ! great idea to add to a quilt !
hugs,
Joanne
Love all those flamingo fabrics!
I like your postcards. To me a quilt that tells a story is the best kind.
Seems like lots of people took great liberty with the SAHRR this year. So many creative interpretations. I can't wait to see how you finish the flamingo piece. And yeah, for getting back to writing.
Pat
I'm late reading your Thursday post but that meant I've read all the recent three. Ned barks sometimes for a real reason and sometimes for nothing that we can see. He got to chase a rabbit on this morning walk and was so confused when it disappeared in a hole. It was comical.
All your aqua stitching is so beautiful. No one does improv better than You! I make cinnamon rolls sometimes with an old flour recipe. It doesn't involve yeast which is why I like it.
I enjoyed reading your writing piece. You do vignettes well. Happy Sunday, LeeAnna!
Good idea to add those "picture corners" to your postcards. I am SEW looking forward to seeing how Glamingo comes together! It's been a long time since you've shared a story with us, LeeAnna. Glad you found your way back to writing! Your stories are always so engaging.
Nice finish to your Glamingo quilt, LeeAnna!
