T is for Tuesday and three quilt projects

one of my paintings last week

I am joining my fellow T stands for Tuesday bloggers today... and today I am working on Three pieces of fabric art... T is also for Three...

I have an artistic temperament, and we like odd numbers in composition, so the eyes keep moving around your art piece instead of bouncing back and forth between two things. Three. often a lucky number.

As I type this, dealing with the nearly daily challenges of new blogger...they changed the image sizing buttons and style today for about the fourth time, I am drinking strong coffee with milk.
Cuban espresso - Wikipedia

I remember fondly drinking cafe con leche or Cuban coffee in Ybor City at lunch. Strong and sweet, milky and smooth. We often met at there for lunch at one of the Cuban restaurants, and always a coffee con leche.

Back to my three projects for today.

There are several styles of quiltmaking these days, traditional, modern, art... I enjoy them all and while my first quilt in the 80's was traditional, my second one was an art quilt. I traced around the little hands of the girls I was watching as a nanny and used them in an art quilt. Today fabric is just another medium like paint to me.

I like to work using the colors of a season, and we're approaching Fall (despite the temps being in the 90's today again)  I love Fall, and fall colors, rich browns and rusts, dark red, golden yellow, bold blue skies the complement to these organic brown tones.

Fabrics of fall waiting to be used

A lovely plan is unfolding... but like any project there are messy phases...

this is a good sign... I am working in studio, making choices, choosing committing to a cut of fabric, sewing and pressing, adding to a composition while listening to an audio book, The Dutch House

A close up of three + projects on the design wall

My design wall is  like my life, busy colorful, full of possibility and choice, lots of projects ongoing at the same time. Many interests. All reflective of me or parts of me.

the overseer
we had a snow day last week, and I brought out the fall flannel quilt for our bed. Now it's back to the 90's I'll have to take it back off, but I like to see colors of the season.

my drink choices don't change... coffee, cold water, iced tea (cinnamon at the moment), possibly wine in the early evening, and sparkle water at night. The days are often the same if I'm lucky no disasters will occur ( can you hear me knocking on wood?)

Just another week... lifting my cup to you my friends... wish we were able to chat in person...

Wow. Snow to 90s. That is extreme weather changes. I love autumn colors too. And the season. It is funny how the seasons stir different emotions. Loving your quilting and how are enjoying the Dutch House? I enjoyed that book. Happy T day. Hugs Erika

Your design wall is a delight. Mine is currently covered in "orphan" blocks that I don't know what to do with, and I'm back to designing on the floor. LOL I'm ready for some autumn sewing too.

The connection between numbers and aesthetics is very fascinating. Not just odd numbers, but prime numbers, the Golden Ratio, Fibonacci numbers and on and on. The Greeks knew it all in their architecture.

I'm drinking strong coffee like you, but I don't use milk. So far I'm not having trouble with photos in new blogger. I hope that continues... Happy T Tuesday!

Beautiful quilts and painting. Your boss is cute, too. Snow and then temps in the 90s and I thought New England weather was fickle. Happy TDay

This is Indian summer. Some days cool and some hot. It takes lots of space because I have to get the fall stuff out just in case but can't put the summer stuff away... also just in case. Coffee con leche = yum.

Beautiful autumn colors! I like the idea of a design wall. (Beautiful things on there to feast the eye upon).
As I write this I am listening to your autumn jazz selection. So relaxing. Good choice. I have a similar play list with those fabulous 'ladies of swing'.
Happy belated T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca

I love your writing style, LeeAnne. It reads like poetry.

Your quilts are works of art. I enjoyed seeing all - including the mess that is part of the process. You should see the mess on my art table. You helped me feel a little better about it.

Happy T-Day. Stay safe and well. Hugs, Eileen

The new blogger drives me crazy! Especially some changes. Some are good, some make it only worse. Like the sizing buttons for the photos. Love that flannel quilt! And WOW, a snow day. I'm not sure, if we will have any snow this winter.

I apologize for taking so long to visit. It was definitely beyond my control. I’m trying to catch up, but it’s harder than I actually imagined it would be, especially with my very slow internet.

I'm still using Legacy blogger and rue the day I will no longer have a choice. I love your quilts, but I don't cut anything. I tear fabric and make little art quilts I call quiltlets. I love your design wall. At one time, I thought about creating one, but have no room for one in the same room as my sewing machine. You have a beautiful set-up.

Your coffee looks good. I've never had Cuban coffee, and would love to try it sometime. Thanks for sharing your art and your coffee with us for T this past Tuesday, dear LeeAnna.
