Monday already?

don't look back!
I've been feeling a bit angry lately... too many stressors and lack of safety, groceries arriving out of their date from the store, people making noise just for the sake of it, heat, failing appliances, my cursor hops around the page at random so when I type it wreaks havoc around the computer,  modern technology being a brat...

Anger thearpy | The 5th Wave

So it's Monday, again.  Old patterns define Monday as the start to the week, just like January 1st is the start to a year, and September is the start of Fall and school. All very artificial in today's world.

But, artificial or not, it's how I look at it, and I make lists of things to do this week.

 lowering expectations during scary times....

An accent | The 5th Wave

I would like to keep ahead of meal time... suddenly we're "hangry" and have to do all the prep work to make a meal... again... all day long. I do not love cooking, but enjoy eating, so as they say, "it is what it is"

I'd like to create today, to paint in the style of Braque but using a very limited palette. To sew using my painted fabrics. To write a chapter in my novel or start Milo's mannars which has been in my head and needs writing. I'd like to walk several times today, and not have maskless people walk/run/bike/skateboard, right. up. to. us.

I'd like to make turkey reuben sandwiches for lunch using the turkey that came yesterday with today's use by date on it. (whole food is not careful here) and to make potato salad out of the leftover boiled potatoes. I'd like to talk with a friend by phone so we both remember we are connected despite distance.

This week, I want to climb the laundry mountain to victory!

The floors need mopping, the fresh peaches are going bad, the dining room table is still covered in random stuff no one really knows what to do with.

I realized I have several elephants collected or made over the years. I thought my love of elephants was recent, from youtube videos that keep me calm enough to carry on... but apparently not. I'd like to draw out an applique pattern to make my own elephant quilt, then bead it all over, and do handstitching on it.

I am slogging through an ebook that is just okay. Life is short, there are many books to read and some of them can be safely downloaded into an ebook. It takes perseverance to find them and I am a slow reader at night, but I do have one I could switch to... why does that make me feel guilty? (more left undone I think)

So here's to Monday, with it's lists and expectations, it's chance to start again. What's going on with you?

Oui, the more I read above the more I laughed. I’ve been awake 2 hours and I’m still in bed reading blogs!! But I’m making wanna - do lists for the day. Yeah, right. You are much more ambitious than I. Thanks for the cartoons. Guess I better go and brush my teeth. It’s a start.

Your elephant applique with beading has me excited because it immediately created pictures in my mind of possibilities! Show off your creativity!!

I'm fighting the laundry mountain too. I have struggled with going into my laundry room because that is where the litter box was and it makes me sad about how lonely the house is without Sammy.

It's been a weird year. The really good thing for me is seeing Milo. He's a handsome pup.

We're getting ready for new windows and shutters so we're working getting all the mini-blinds down and temporarily covering our windows. So far so good.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Scritches to Milo. ♥

I understand your "want to do" lists of things. I write things down all the time that I want to do. I find it so difficult to focus on one thing lately. I want to create things because it's calming. If I could just focus. Hope you get to have creative time each day this week!! I believe in you!! 🌻🐘🌹

Oh Angie, your last sentence makes me feel less alone! You are thoughtful. Yes, focus is hard... thoughts get in the way of focus don't they? Here's to both of us able to fcus... and even a bit done is better than absolutely not getting out of bed and trying, right? right!

Laundry mountain...reminds me of Joy. She has a phrase for it. Mount Washmore :-D Now that reminds me of Mount Rushmore and the recent debacle in the vicinity of Mount Rushmore complete with fireworks means that our country is going to hell in a hell basket with plenty of dirty laundry being washed in public...
I ate four peaches for lunch yesterday because they were one step away from turning into peach-sized raisins.
Did I rant too much? Sorry, I got carried away. Hugs to you.

Ah, Preeti writes comments just as witty as her blog. I think we all are suffering from a second wave (or third or fourth) of negative reaction to our current conditions: frustration at the seemingly neverending COVID crisis, distress over the coming election, and the realization that summer is coming to an end and we didn't accomplish any of the things we needed to do. Or at least that's me.

Aw, sorry you feel bummed, LeeAnna. I hope after venting you feel better. After reading your post I scrolled down and was treated to seeing (again) your little elephants. Just look at them — can’t help but smile!

I give you permission to not finish a book. My sister told me this a few years ago and it felt so good. There are so many wonderful books in the world and I won't get them all read inmy lifetime. So,why waste time finishing a book i don't like? I just finished a wonderful novel titled, "joy for beginners". Maybe you will love it too. I hope your spirits are lifted by something lovely today.

The list of things to do is what motivates me to move forward. I've learned it doesn't have to be all done today. Here's hoping finding peace is on your list.
