I Like Thursday # 341

welcome to this week's list of likes, and since our prompt is

"  do you like Spring flowers? Which ones are your favorites? Do you plant them in your yard? is there a particular color you like? Any interesting story to tell about seeing Spring flowers emerge? Is there a time you were stunned seeing a whole collection of them somewhere like I was at Longwood Gardens?"

Best Places to See Cherry Blossoms in D.C. in 2023
cherry blossoms in Washington

My opening pic is of  cherry blossoms... we lived in the Washington DC area for many years. Just being that far north allowed me to enjoy and grow Spring flowers for the first time in my life. I fell for flowering trees especially cherry trees with the delicate pink soft petals. It was magical to walk along the elipse and look up seeing the brilliant white and pinkness against blue skies!!!

I love tulips, any tulips, but especially

purple ones

I planted tulips in our yard, watching daily the green stalks grow tall, buds on the end, then just as it was time to flower, squirrels ate the buds overnight, WAH!

now listening to, by one of my favorite authors, and the reader is engaging too!

on TV

We found one of the great british baking shows (netflix) professionals and are working our way through the season. Not as fun as amateur bakers but interesting. Top Chef world winners is really good on Bravo

I saw the traitors reunion on Peacock, am enjoying American Idol, A million little things, The good doctor, The bachelor, Real housewives of NJ, and SURVIVOR!

Then there is Firefly lane current season, LOVE this series!

Milo's Moments

Hmmmmmm now let me think.... do I like Spring Flowers? I guess they are okay, I've sniffed a few, and any plants are fine to pee on...

Mama: MILO! what a thing to say!

Milo: I didn't say I'd pee on YOUR spring flowers... if you grew any

Mama: nothing much grows here, it's dismal and brown but I remember the blankets of flowers back east....

Milo: we gotta get you some flowers, I'll get daddy on that !

D.C. cherry blossoms are quite amazing to see. The first time they bloomed after my daughter moved there (between Baltimore and Washington D.C.), she called me, "Mom! It looks like a fairy exploded outside!"
Ha ha ha

I loved Cherry Blossom time in DC too. It was always a good excuse to get out and walk about. Somehow I miss the prompts so I'll tell you I love the flowers too. My daffodils are blooming and the hyacinths came back with a flourish this year. I'll look forward to the iris later and then the daisies, cat mint, and black-eyed susans. I'm going to grow marigolds & sunflowers this year too. I'm sorry you see nothing but brown there. When I lived at Lowry AFB, Denver years ago, I planted some orange California poppies right off our porch. They grew like crazy and re-seeded every year. Try those this year maybe? A pkg of seeds would be a cheap test-grow!

I love all the spring flowers you mentioned, too, and have grown them here. I just have to remember that a lot of them are bulbs that you plant in the late fall! Usually by then, I am done gardening. :) Isn't Little Fires Everywhere a fascinating story? They also made it into a TV mini series, and it's good, too. Looking forward to seeing your Spring round robin finish!

Spring comes much later here in eastern SD, most years anyway. We're in the midst of a blizzard again today. Love the apple blossoms in spring. We had apple trees in the yard when I was growing up. There is a really pretty crab apple tree that blooms just down the street from us now. And tulips! But I have no gardening skills so I just enjoy other people's flowers.

Love a good quesadilla! Easy to make, and easy to customize with whatever I like. Last one I made had just mushrooms and cheese.

Hi LeeAnna! Oh, what pretty pictures of spring flowers you've shared. I love irises, too. Darn those squirrels eating your tulips! What happens by us is they open one morning and there are high winds so the petals are knocked off. We're left with just green stalks. Nuts! We're enjoying Top Chef being back along with Spring Baking, too. Enjoy your Thursday! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

Ahhhh! Spring flowers! I too love every kind and colour of Iris. And I don't know what my favorite tulip colour would be as I love to see a patch of multi-coloured ones.

Any spring flower will do for me...but I think snowdrops, tulips and irises are spring to me! Your food looks so yummy - extra hungry right now - having returned from the dentist and eating off schedule. Milo is always so handsome!

It's so inspiring to see all those lovely flowers! I love seeing the food you've been cooking. It always looks so good. I love everything by Celeste Ng. Her books are always so intriguing. I love how your mantle looks. So pretty!

Oh, yes! We were in DC one spring and wow! It was lovely! I enjoyed the cherry blossoms on Okinawa as well. Lovely floral photos. Your meals look delicious. Cute bunny quilt. Take good care.

I'm a fan of tulips, too. They are the only flowers that bloom every year. Somehow, my irises no longer bloom.

The pie tarts look yummy. I adore that bunny quilt.

It's obvious you and I do not have the same taste in tv shows. I don't watch any that you named.

Laughed at Milo, but glad he will get your husband to buy you some flowers.

Lol on Milo peeing on the plants! I love the Great British Baking Show for amateurs - haven't seen the one for professionals. We watched A Million Little Things when it first came out, then the next season. My husband liked it OK but I got very tired of all the angst and adults acting like children, and I could not stand the character Gary Mendez! The only character I liked was Maggie.
Thanks for hosting our likes!

Oh so many things to love in this post. Pretty roses on the mantel and tiny garden flowers and purple tulips. Yummy food...I use tortillas a lot because they are so versatile it seems. Love that bunny too and of course, always enjoy Milo. Ned is crazy with the other dogs here; they are so calm and he is so excited. I'm really enjoying them.

I only saw DC Cherry Blossoms once in my life. I was in HS. We have flowering crab apple trees that are pretty amazing, in our small city! Purple is a favorite flower color of mine too! Wow, your oat bread looks yummy! I must try your stuffed pepper recipe. Thanks for the quesadilla inspiration! I never think to make one just for myself! I like “Little Fires Everywhere “ also. And “Everything I Never Told You “

Looking forward to your PQ creation and your SAHRR!

I love spring flowers. Snowdrops were always the first to appear in UK but daffodils are my favourites. My son sent me photo of a park covered in crocus in the Denmark where he lives. We don't really have much of a spring season here but I did manage to get two little clumps of baby tete-a-tete daffodils to flower. Sadly they will not come again next year. But we do have a lovely jasmine in the garden that flowers freely, and everywhere around here you see the almond blossom. It is not wuite as dense as the cherry blossom, but still very pretty.
I made your oat loaf and we enjoyed it. Unfortunately I cannot get sugar free apple sauce anywhere, and we don't have cooking apples to make my own with, but I used what I could get but didn't add any extra sugar. (I am diabetic so have to avoid added sugar whenever possible). Kate x

Bad squirrels! We went to DC once for the cherry blossoms and it snowed unexpectedly and none of us had warm clothes. Then the car's heating system went and it was a long cold drive home (huddled with friends in the back seat). LOL So that's what I recall with DC cherry blossoms. All your cooking looks yummy! The dancing bunny made me smile and I needed that. :-)

Love, love, LOVE Spring flowers!! Favorite? The Snow Iris that were always the first to emerge from the Winter sleep. I miss them. None of the Iris brought from our last home survived. It makes me very sad. Worse is that there were no flowers in our new yard. None! Fortunately, the Saucer Magnolia tree more than makes up for it, since it blooms several times during the year.

I love tulips and daffodils in the spring. I cannot wait until it gets warmer and I am able to work in my garden. Milo is looking very distinguished in this photo :) Thanks for linking up.
