I Like Thursday # 305

Welcome to this week's list of likes, starting with painting workshops

I enjoyed Willowing's teachers and lessons very much, the above is an accordian folded book of trees. More on that Saturday...   I also am still enjoying the index card a day prompts. This one was "yellow"

I ordered some pretty embroidery threads from Amazon

Audio books, two this week,

  lighthearted family saga of woman

set in middle ages, solving a mysterious death, a female doctor navigates the investigation

reading on ebook

Nantucket series book #4

watching on tv

Big Brother and The Challenge (with reality show stars competing) started last night otherwise we are watching on PBS Hotel Portofino, Murdoch Mysteries on ACORN, Offspring on Netflix, while waiting for some other shows to start.

for your listening pleasure, concert with a duck wearing pearls

we tried this recipe but our pan was bigger so we increased it all by another half...

ours came out dry but did rise and made a cake on stovetop. It's sort of sweet... we ate it...

however there is nothing at all wrong with these whole foods brand peppermint patties!!!

gardening

Wildflowers are super slow but growing and nasturtiums are no show so far,  my basil has two leaves, the bell pepper plants have 4... oy vey.

distractions

dh and I relearned how to play cribbage and it's been a fun evening game for us

with the hideously loud ridiculously loud fireworks that went on next door and across the street, with Milo's extreme illness, with Americans shooting each other, it's been a difficult week.We finally got a vet to come to the house and Milo is now on meds we hope help. I kept busy painting and sewing, reading and watching tv, talking to friends by phone and zoom. So much of life is endurance.

Milo's Moment

Milo's taking a week off, trying to recover.

now please visit these fine folks to see what they liked this week and let me know if you want me to link to your post

I ordered that same package of embroidery thread. Aren't the colors beautiful? Nice painting of the trees too. That would make a beautiful quilt. And how are you liking the Mistress of the Art of Death? Hope your week is going well, and happy Thursday. hugs-Erika

You have some fun, creative work going on lately! I'm so sorry to hear that Milo isn't feeling well. I hope he's on the mend soon and the meds do their thing!

Our neighbours on one side do love the fireworks as well. Canada Day was on a Friday but they celebrated all weekend with the fireworks. Very scary for Ned and Pete.
Anyway, love these prompts and your accordian/ painted trees are lovely. I've never heard of a cake top cake...interesting and I haven't had a peppermint patty in years. Now I want one.

I love, love, love your "yellow prompt" painting. So sunny & cheerful! You may know that I'm currently reading "Hello, Summer" and have been enjoying the light read. I'm sorry to hear about poor Milo. I didn't know he was ill but I hope he's feeling much better by now with his meds. Hopefully the pills are the kind he takes until better and not for life.

I just finished watching Offspring a couple of weeks ago. Totally enjoyed it.

Oh no, about Milo being sick! Hope he's getting better. Your yellow index card is wonderful, and so is the duck and the music. I love that song! I have Hello, Summer on my to-be-read pile - will have to pull it up next!

Love your art and the yellow is so pretty. I haven't had any peppermint patties for a long, long, time. Hey, Murdoch is from our State, everyone thought there was a lot fishy about those deaths. Milo, I hope you're feeling better soon pal. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

Beautiful paintings LeeAnna. Great book suggestions. Glad you got a vet out to check on poor sweet Milo. Your garden is coming along, even if it’s slow. Sorry you have such noisy (read terrible) neighbors. That doesn’t make life enjoyable. I miss playing cribbage. We used to play in the evening with my parents and then I with my children.
Ps. I finally wrote a post this week. It’s been difficult to get back at it but I’m trying.

Oh no, didn't know Milo was under the weather. Hope he's better soon. Friday night the fireworks in the neighborhood went on until 11 PM. Then Saturday night someone set off a cherry bomb at 1 AM (well, I guess that was technically Sunday). Anyway, it woke me up and I couldn't get back to sleep. No rain to speak of in several weeks. Everything in the yard is drying up. Your artwork remains a bright spot every week.

Hope Milo is feeling better soon!
I like Mary Kay Andrews' books, but I haven't read that one. I put it on my list, next trip to the library. Thanks!

Goofy duck. The apple upside down cake looks good. This year has been a good year for wildflowers in our yard (although the nasturtiums I planted in the yard are struggling with the drought. Cribbage! I haven't played that in years. Hope you all have a chance to be calm this week.

Oh poor Milo! I'm sorry he is not well (well, has been for a while now) nbut I'm glad you found a vet who does house calls and lets hope Milo improves. I'm certainly rooting for him.
The apple up-side-down cake looks very nice. I'll have a go at that.
I love the yellow index card. It is a great colour, so summery and up-beat. Just what we need.
Enjoy your weekend,
Hugs (and a cuddle for Milo),
Lisca

The fireworks just go on and on here! Hope Milo has a better week ahead. Homemade goodies are the best. I just made the blueberry muffins again...they sure are good! hugs!

The world is crazy allover. Terrible that shooting in Chigago! Most dogs are afraid of fireworks, some need even tranquilizer… I wish Milo a prompt recovery. I read a lot, but your books are unknown to me, so far. Common day life here too. Some of my annuals refuse to bloom - you don’t succeed always!
