I Like Thursday #134

Welcome to this week's list of likes! I like the colorful boxes I've gathered over the years, for my studio storage. Things like zippers, bag handles, trims.

I liked going to the small Denver sewing expo last weekend... some pictures...
Look at the antique sewing machine cabinet drawers turned into display boxes.
This may be too many buttons, what do you think?
I laughed seeing this pattern for a dog/cat bed... Milo would take one look and tear it shred to shred. After all that work, so I won't be making that.
I liked chatting with this designer at the show...
find her at www.Beatriceforms.com or beatriceforms on IG
You can order her dress forms through Colorado fabrics. She takes three d pics of you and makes the form to look just like you.
OH NO! said I... that's all I need to commit hari kari.! But I'd love one if I was thinner, and making clothing.
this booth had lots of vintage embroidery... I LOVE vintage embroidery!

I got a surprise gift from Shannon (I'm working on a project) this week. A beautiful book of the SAQA art quilt exhibit she is a part of. and a wonderful card.

My friend Sonja in HI sent me another box of fun... a book by Anne Lamott, a beautiful handmade bookmark and lovely hand painted scraps
I started playing around with the scraps and decided to make a mountain view and do lots of hand embroidered grass and flowers on it! Yea! Thank you Sonja for inspiration and collaboration.
I have more fabric than some stores but am having the hardest time choosing a background for my painted birds. In the Monday post I described spritzing paint on them to soften the white backgrounds...
but now I can't quite settle on a background. I do like this one with dragonflies and it blends with my handpainted flowers on the bottom... but this dark one is good too, only this is all I have, not really enough
I got out pencils and markers and colored in one of the stamped images done earlier in the year...
and like her but she's very pensive, no? Pretty in person, and more saturated in color.
Can she sneak into the banner?

I love the soft photo of my kalanchoe plant who is re-blooming at the moment
I like the banana split pudding recipe I concocted last week, recipe (HERE)

On a walk this week, I prayed that I could find wisdom and answers to a longing for meaning in my life.I know it's supposed to be light-hearted here on Thursdays, but I am giving you a peek into my real heart here.

This talk changed my whole outlook on things...
want to be happy?

And after I listened to this talk by Richard Warren, the author of the purpose-driven life
https://www.ted.com/talks/rick_warren_on_a_life_of_purpose#t-1245098
I had to find his book at the library to read.
One of the many fine things he said, was that a couple may not plan to give birth to a child, but God does, we are all important and we all matter. There is a reason we are here.

Milo's Moments
Hi Y'all! It got warmer here this week, oh don't get excited... on a walk I heard Mr. David say we'll get snow into June, but this week it was warm enough for Mama to open the slider to the screen so I could enjoy keeping an eye on things, while knowing where she was.
That concrete step is mighty comfy with a lot of poodle hair to rest upon. I have a big job in the family. I am the one to keep everyone out of the yard. I do this by BARKING AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS any time I see a neighbor come outside their house. The latest intruders are cars driving by the fence. I chase them off right fast, you can count on me! Barking the whole time.
Mama and Daddy do not appreciate me either. They bark at me, can you believe it? Milo shut up! That's enough! As if I am not the director of Household security! I get no respect!

But I like my job! And good thing too... not one of those cars has driven into the back yard yet.

Please visit these peeps to see their list of likes this week. And if you do a likes post, let Mama know!

we had the same thought as we saw the cute bed... all this work would be history within 5 minutes... or 3 ... we bark a lot to Milo, it seems humans have no sense for serious dog-jobs ;O)

Hi LeeAnna! I am 100% certain that we all have a purpose for being here. Sometimes we might know what that purpose is and others may never know. And Milo, you just keep doing a great job as Director of Household Security. No one really understands all the stress you take on in that job. ~smile~ Roseanne

That's a lot of wonderful likes, but my favorite like is Milo. You already knew that didn't you.

Have a fabulous day. Scritches and doggy kisses to Milo. ♥

Oh, I really like the box with the eyes and of course I'd really like the cat bed. Hey Milo, just keep everything secure, we know you're most appreciated! Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

That pink box with the white polka dots has something to say, I think! Praying you find the answers you need. Of course, we all matter! You included. Thank you for reminding us each Thursday to look for things we like and love in the world. Milo is funny. Chelsey (our little gray cat) would have fun with him. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I love that pink box that has eyes and possibly a mouth, too! So cute! It's always fun to see your paint and fabric projects. I'm glad Milo takes his job as protector of the job so seriously! :)

I'm so intrigued by your painted fabric pieces. I've never done anything like that.

I don't think I want a dress form shaped like me. A mirror is enough! Always nice to see Milo. Thanks for linking up today.

Yes, some of us are meant to wander and wonder, I think LeeAnna. Sometimes, I tell my brain to give it a rest!
I like your banana pudding recipe. I make puddings a lot so this would be a nice variation.
Love your Kolanchoe photo and the bloom. Mine are still dormant.
Rex and Murphy would totally agree with Milo's job description. They keep the squirrels off the veranda by that inside barking method, would probably keep cars off too, but can't see any here.

The sewing expo looks like so much fun! Your bird blocks are lovely. The darker fabric sets them off beautifully - drat on not having enough!

I really had to giggle about Milo’s plight. My puppy suffers the same plight.

I feel so lame when I bump into creative bloggers. I guess I use words more than color. Googly eyes are always fun.

The vintage embroidery is just precious. I don't think I've ever seen one like that! I'm going back to look at it again! Hugs!

I laughed when I saw that pic of the box with eyes. I suddenly find myself wanting one of those in my artroom. LOL I also adore your bird paintings--birds are special to me--they're my buddies! Yours are especially beautiful. They fill my eyes, which is the greatest compliment I can give.

Your stamped birds are SEW sweet! I like them on the green, as shown. I'm so sorry to hear that you are feeling unsettled again, LeeAnna! Best of luck finding something that works for your new art piece and some peace as to your purpose. Although, it seems to me that being a wife, dog Mom, and quilt artist would provide plenty of meaning to your life. Sending quilty hugs!!

I enjoyed your post. I came upon it after taking part in Floral Friday Fotos. I'll be back to read your blog in the future.

what a wonderful post! Thanks for taking us along on your sewing expo jaunt. Love your nature inspired sewing and the gifted fabrics too. I read that book quite awhile ago and enjoyed it. Milo is so sweet, love how she provides security for the house:) Happy PPF!

The kalanchoe has pretty flowers. Technology today! That's neat she can take 3D pics and create a form. Your birds are cute. And Milo looks so happy.

Hi loved this post! Milo always makes me smile! Why don't you make a thin frame for the bird blocks with the dark green fabric and then frame it in the lighter one? I like the way the dark fabric makes the images pop! Have a great week!

What a lot of lovely things to look at. And I love that poodle. What a handsome animal!

I laughed when I saw the concrete was mostly poodle hair and therefore comfy to lounge upon, haha. I be you could open your own store, I forgot to ask if you ever have stuff on Etsy (Penny Blossoms).
I'm glad your weather is warming, here too. I'd love it if it never got warmer than mid to high 60s and we've hit lows 60s already...remember when it was 60 below, I do.
Banana Split Pudding...man I don't know how I'm going to get through this Easter.

Interesting choices for your bird stamps. Could you use the darker fabric as a tiny inner border and then finish with the dragonflies?
I'm glad you're out seeing things in your new town.

those googley eyed boxes were from IKEA one year, some few years back... never know what you'll find in the kid section of IKEA!

LA - I would have been in deep trouble if I had visited that booth with the vintage embroidery … That photo of the kalanchoe plant is sublime - I almost feel like I could reach out and touch those soft petals. Glad you have found some resources to help with your outlook - enjoy the rest of your week, my friend!
