I Like #81

Welcome to this week's list of likes!
I like the pretty Spring colors on Hershey's Kisses
The Edge of Dreams (Molly M...
I'm reading this book in the molly Murphy series by Rhys Bowen. Molly is a spunky Irish immigrant to America who becomes a private investigator. Turn of last century NY setting. It's so much fun to not only read a mystery I can't figure out til the end, plus read about a woman who stands her ground amid the standards of the day. I just realized there are several more written since this, so I get to keep reading! I love her character and the setting.

I did a post earlier on the big snow storm we had ( HERE) but I liked how the streets melted quickly and something like ice caves/sculptures/hoodoos were formed in the melting...
Not man made lumps, but nature made from melting and shadows...
this looked like a stop motion splash! It is ice lace created from the odd melting. I felt I was walking in a sculpture garden the day after the storm! (Milo, unimpressed, often peed on them)

I'm not used to Aspen trees, and found the red buds to be very pretty, a lot like 4 beads per stem end.
I also like the red growth on these for spring. We can use color around here!
can you just see the red tips on all branches?? How about that sky? The cloud show is always amazing here. Of course the evergreens were just supporting the heavy snow as it melted
Like a postcard, isn't it?
I like birds, and seem to be seeing, and hearing more of them this week. This little fellow caught our ears before it caught our eyes... milo's and mine...
He was unconcerned with us, as he sang his invitation to others...
I have never heard his song before, so Milo and I stopped to observe. I feared he'd fly away but nope.
Each tweet opened his mouth and tilted his tail up! I was lucky enough to catch him mid tweet!
Lovely little, and thank you for being brave enough to sing for us.
He looks like the one I might stencil on my background...
I worked on my V-quilt this week, and will show it later, as well as cut out a tree trunk from a purple batik for my watercolor quilt. It feels good to work on art again. Interpreting what I see around me. Using something another person might throw away to create my own art feels good.

I am in love with this woman's writing...
read this pet post and see if you don't agree...

I sometimes like to look at my blog stats, to see what people have read. I am under no delusion that those stats are all correct but someone read one of my old posts and I re read it and... well.... it was just lots of fun!

Are we just our latest posts? No, there is gold in them thar hills!
Please read this one from Lake Placid about lessons quilters can learn from Ice Skaters... we are all connected!

Milo's Moment this week
A big bark-out to my peeps out there! I always have fun and likes. The recent snow was fun to play in and eat. (of course I do urp-up after eating it but still) It also brings up a lot of smells... I took advantage of Mama's patience (as if) this week...
to stop and smell the, well, er, PEE-Mail. I am sort of nervous of people who don't move while sitting on the ground, so I walked quickly past this person...
But I stopped in my pawprints to watch a robin walking around on the ground, some people across the street, a bag blowing by, two enormous shepherd dogs who walked on by, and some pigeons on a roof top. I mean, I'm young, and all this is new to me. Daddy and Mama just want to keep walking so they must be missing the fun.
Not me!
I take advantage of all the walk has to offer! I love to see an open park,'cause I want to run. A lot!
I start biting at the leash if I want to run around, and sometimes my peeps get the picture.I run back and forth from one to the other, chasing a toy I bring along...
This one is all busted up but nice and squishy in my BIG POODLE TEETH, and I love to chew as I walk... don't you?
I also like to flop down after a running session, before walking home. Sometimes, like this weekend, we see another dog with his family, and I play with them. It happened a lot this week, and I just love to play with dogs. They seem to be made of sterner stuff than humans, and don't mind a little nip now and then, heh heh. I says, be comfy! Wherever life takes you!

Now, SIT and visit these people my Mama likes, who also wrote like posts this week!

Hi LeeAnna,
It looks like quite a bit of the snow has melted! Typical for March, I would expect. At least that's how it is here. Winter and snow can just move on out now anytime! ~smile~ Roseanne

Hi LeeAnna,
Lots of great nature photo's you're sharing with us here on your blog! You have lived and seen quite a few different states and Edmonton! Your quilt art is intriguing!

Great likes! I love that you are finding new types of nature to appreciate! You are lucky your snow melts so quickly. I'm sitting here looking at a foot of snow and more expected tomorrow!

Love the photo of the snow in the pine tree - because we have 60 pine trees in our back yard, and they were covered with wet heavy snow over the weekend. But the sun is out here today and things are melting again. Yay! The birds have been very vocal this week and I've seen Downy Woodpeckers, chickadees, sparrows, and one cardinal at my office window bird feeder. And one rooster pheasant with a broken tail feather appears to be living under one of our pine trees. He's very noisy and struts around the yard like he owns the place.

Oh you did get a good dumping of snow. No fresh stuff for us but staying cold overnight. But the sun and light are longer every day. More birds moving in too so spring is somewhere around!I like that you are creating again too. I love seeing what you make.

Kisses! Such cheery colors. Spring birds - it should be fun to see how the landscape and animals change over the next few months. Looks like Milo is living quite the life!

I have a weakness for Hershey's Kisses, so when I saw that picture, I just went, "Oh yes!" My favorites are the dark chocolate which are always covered in purple wrappers! Glad you are seeing and hearing more birds - that is something to love about this time of year.

You're right - the ice "sculptures" are fascinating - just like your furry friends

Such fantastic photo, especially the splash! Milo, you look like you have fun with snow or no snow. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

Lovely post - so much to be thankful for! Love the shots of blue sky and clouds!!! I also liked the stop motion splash - I am not in love with all the 'dirty snow' we have around right now, so this helped me change my perspective! Have a lovely weekend!

Ice skaters and quilters? I would never have guessed -but you are correct. Great correlation. I need to find those Molly Murphy books. For some reason, I'm attracted to those turn of the century immigration stories. I'm so impressed with your photographer skills on that bird photo. So sweet. Happy Spring! mary in Az

I like kisses, but they stay on my butt forever. :D Great pic of the snow melting, and the pine tree. I need to check out the series you are reading. Love listening to the birds, and watching how fat the robins are getting already.

I loved that "What quilters can learn from ice skaters" post when it first appeared and was glad to revisit it again. Still a great piece! Great photo of the bird singing with the park in the background. So glad you finally got to see how the snow does really melt here when the sun comes out. That's a spring snowstorm for you.

Love the evergreen trees with the snow! Always so beautiful in the winter.

Hello, we also had a snow storm here in Maryland. Not sure where Spring went too, winter does not want to leave. Cute shots of the birds and your Milo. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!

Wow, thank you for the compliment, my new friend! What a lovely surprise to see my brother's cartoon of my cats here on your blog, along with your adorable Milo. Young dogs are so inquisitive, happy, and bouncy, aren't they, and Milo looks like one of the best of the bunch.
Hugs from here.

I like the melted snow photos. How fun. i want to hear the birds, too.
Milo is learning a lot. He has to stare at things to work out what place it has in his life!

That motion splash of snow - what a find! Don't you love it when you read a book and you love the author, to discover he/she has written more:) Hope you show the quilt to All Seasons with batik when it's done - I personally love batik, because it's part of my heritage! Have a lovely week!

Cute post. I remember walking to school the day after Labor Day in the snow, and being on Trail Ridge Road in the summer when it was closed due to snow! Just part of living in CO! I love it. But now I live in IN and can only come home to the "promised land" once a year! Lucky you!
