I Like Thursday #384 in a new year! art, food, snow and a poodle

finally got a new address book!

welcome to this week's list of likes starting with finally getting a new address book. Yep, I like a book to hold, for keeping envelopes or business cards, momentos,  things I don't want to forget and oh yes, addresses. I am not a big fan of looking at a little phone screen.

I made time for art this week, amid chores and cooking and other demands...

painting, drawing, book binding,

about 4.5" X 5.5"
I've already drawn and painted on the junk journal pages

...hand sewing and knitting, and starting my prompt for Project Quilting which challenges us to make a quilt from prompt to idea to finished in one week. More on Saturday! I love what's coming out.

On video

If only I had curly hair... I'd love this style

Discovery this week

I discovered my grater has a mandolin on one side. Well now, how shall I use that!! Mainly we use it to grate carrots and it has a nice little attached bottom dish to collect those bits that don't stick to the inside wall of the grater.
I've had that grater more than a few years...

speaking of cooking... more roasted butternut squash, and cheese stuffed mini bell peppers

I tried a new recipe, I'm always looking for an orange baked good that tastes like orange. I won't even share the recipe, despite O.J., Orange zest, and orange extract, there was zero flavor in these

looks can be deceiving, they have no flavor
Interesting things on TV again, especially PBS, yea!

Watching short videos

I wish my husband distracted me like this at the Doctor's office!

Prompt for this week: Do you have plans or desires to learn something new this year? playing the flute or running a marathon, water aerobics? French? Finally clearing off the dining room table? Do you have a goal for this coming year?

I have made a good effort at clearing off the table but it is a horizontal surface so it naturally attracts... stuff

I am on a "sorting" kick, maybe not reorganizing formally but going through a drawer and lining things up, going thru the fridge more often to put some order to it so we know what we have. I do a bit each day somewhere in the house, as chaos brings me down.

My one and largest goal this year is to resume writing and so far so good. Helen (wordweaverart) is helping by reading some of it, and commenting. It's easier to write "for someone" you know likes your words and gives feedback, than to just pick up and write. Although... I am doing that too, now that I'm exercising that muscle. Sometimes it's fiction, sometimes it's memoirs sometimes it's an opinion like upcoming Sat creativity post's essay...

Milo's Moment

Milo squatted this morning in our bit of snow.
it snowed overnight and my world is covered in a veneer of white less than an inch but opaque. It tidied up all the ugly brown for a bit but the sun is coming out and the sun here is no joke. It is overbearing and demanding and sears everything in it's path so the pretty cleanliness of snow might disappear soon.

I remember my girl Chelsea, when we moved to Maryland from Florida and she saw snow for the first time. She could not bear to squat in it so my then new husband shoveled a path for her.
Milo has an unfortunate aim for pee and often it gets on a front leg. What the heck?? I trimmed his furs after yesterday's bath, even though it was to be cold (finally) this week I trimmed those legs because they not only get peed on they hold too much snow. In deeper snow he must come in and thaw to avoid snowballs on the floors!

Look I'm an angel! and thawed out Mama!
Now I'm ready for a snack, and nap!
Is this a poodle yoga position? or Milo says, one two three four legs! all in one place!

Now please visit these people to see their likes this week and let me know if you did a post for me to include!

A drawer with order where there was once chaos is so satisfying!

Your new address book is so pretty! I love new notebooks, paper, places to organize. One drawer or space at a time is good. I love all your small drawings! Pups and snow, an hilarious combination!

I love the idea of working with papers, junk journals, markers, etc. That impulse goes back to childhood, I think. I too love orange and often put cut up oranges in my spinach salads. Some use a tin of madarin oranges to give the flavour in biscuits. One of my shih tzus used to have a problem with peeing switching spring and fall from ground to snow and back again. She also had to be carried over boardwalks or extra leafy trails. We'd tease her...ready to go for a carry, Ming? But that's the wonderful thing about small dogs, you can do that with them. Ned and Milo not so much, LOL.

Oh, I have been organizing and purging too. It feels really good. You gave me a giggle with Milo peeing on his front legs! Too funny!

Your address book looks like it will be fun to have and use! Yum on the roasted butternut squash and peppers, too. I think Milo will be making good use of his beautiful fur coat this weekend! Stay warm!

Hi LeeAnna! Oooooh!! Your new address book cover is fabulous. Look at that tree just filled with oodles of love hearts. That needs to sit on your desk where you can smile at it every single day. I'm so glad you found time for art - I have my pretty art piece from you sitting next to my chair. I smile at it every evening and think of you! A mandolin - I'd make some scalloped potatoes. I think Milo is practicing Twister - put all four paws on Yellow. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

Ha,ha! Clearing off the dinner room table as a goal for the new year. I did that the
December after Mark died. The table was inundated with politcal campaign memorabilia clutter. I even texted a photo to two of his button-collector friends shwoing the table cleared with a Christmas themed table topper on it. And thank you for the lovely little card with the Christmas tree. I need to find a little frame so I can display it.

Curly hair is nice but I'd be glad just to have hair LOL! Yummy, the orange goodies do look quite good. Milo, be careful going out in the snow and keep the frosty paws to a minimum. Thanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

Yay for creating. I'm getting there, but not as much as I'd like. Hmm.. I may need to chop my hair! That's cute. Milo - how many legs do you have?!?

The red chair Milly is sitting on is in our home…she has her own blanket on it if you notice 🥰🥰 Her hair trim was planned before it got so cold here but thankfully she has a couple of jumpers to wear if need be 😀😀😀 I love Milo’s yoga pose.
Hugs,

I love your new address book. So pretty! I've gone through a few drawers but I find I can't do it for long. Little bit at a time for me! Milo is so funny!

Your veggies look and sound so good. I cleaned out one draw awhile back, such a satisfying thing to do....others are in need, but one day at a time, lol.

It is so rewarding and satisfying to order and tidy. I'm trying to do a bit of that. Although I have nothing on the dining room table (I use it for eating every day), I do have boxes and boxes of clothes and shoes (mine and my late husband's), a garage full of man-cave stuff and a pantry full of food at risk of going out of date.
I'm also in the process of making a document box in case anything should happen to me. Funeral insurance, bank details, will, property deeds, passwords, key to the wall safe etc.
So quite a list of things to do. One thing at a time. Slowly, slowly catch a monkey.
Milo looks lovely, clean and fluffy. Looks like you used conditioner (don't tell him).
Have a lovely weekend,
Hugs,
Lisca

Orange baked good that tastes like orange - i have a muffin recipe that involves throwing the entire orsnge (or lemon) in the food processor with sugar and blitzing it before adding eggs, melted butter flour etc. Fabulous, tasty, moist. I will see if i can find it and stick it in a comment sometime.

Incredible difference between your beautiful painting and my attempt at the same exercise! Sweet little junk journal, LeeAnna. I'm SO glad that you enjoyed the beaded book binding tutorial I sent!

My immediate goal is to clean out my closet! lol I still haven't started on it even with being inside during this cold weather. Gardening goals as well, just waiting for warmer weather on that one. Thanks for linking up. Hugs to Milo!
