I don't have enough time in the studio to create, as I'm dismantling it. (sobbing!)
I have made some hexi stars for my
Rainbow Scrap Challenge this month, and thought finished or not, I'd show you what I made.
The chosen scrap color this month is darks.
I've used some pretty black scraps for the outside segments... and the
Inside stars... I just adore the black and white around the points and the way it sort of comes and goes with the white parts next to the strong black centers
Very sparkly points, and swirly starry centers.
In fact I am intrigued with the interplay of shadows on all these stars.
When I chose the pattern I didn't realize just how much it would teach me!
Here are three more neutrals in progress
the striped one counts for a dark brown for me. I love the color shading and radiating lines. It was a skinny strip before I made a "point" of it!
I like the little tree in center of this one. Life is in the details.
A couple more I finished
I like the mix of white and cream and beige in both blocks...
I keep components like basted points and edges in my travel box

My little cardboard lunch box holds a lot of basting paper shapes, fabrics pre cut, needle, threader, scissors, threads, and finished components. When I lay them out to sew together I use this little cardboard insert salvaged from the recycling bag...
and the whole thing reminds me to....

So many beautiful stars. Lovely!
But your next studio will be so much better and you'll be even more creative (if that's possible). Those skinny points look like they are very fiddly to work with. I'm making some EPP stars using diamond pieces, but I guess I tense up too much while hand sewing because my hands cramp up. So I'm not making much progress.
Remember to take deep breaths and smile.

Think how interesting it will be to unpack your studio at the other end, find new homes for things and see them in a new light. In the meantime, keep making the stars!
I know how hard (and scary!) it is to pack up a studio. Hang in there! Keep facing the future with that little bag of stars and you'll be fine.

I always love seeing those stars, and you are so creative with them. Such a good idea to keep a travel bag filled with stitching to do!
Just think as you pack things away - how it will be like Christmas morning as you open each box and decide where and how to set up your new studio with some beautiful views. So fun to see your progress on these.

Every time I read your blog I learn something new about color play...it still amazes me how color can change the entire look of a pattern! Your stars are so pretty and fun! The black and white ones caught my eye but then I saw your polka dots! They are all lovely! Thank you for sharing!

The stars are lovely. The process looks a bit too complicated for me, I'm not sure I could replicate it and still stitch them so straight, but I do love the end result. Thank you for sharing at The Really Crafty Link Party. Pinned!

Glad to see you are planning ahead, packing “ handwork” to do. A move is stressful enough but as long as you have a creative outlet you will be fine. When is the big move? It will be worth it
