welcome to this week's sewing round up.... it's Fall despite the heat wave we're experiencing.... so I pulled out the bag of Fall Scraps and worked on two projects, first a watercolor technique of a pumpkin
inspired by this one on my walk....
also inspired by sunlight and the color gold
First I arranged, then rearranged squares on the design wall this week,
| whee! whaat fun this is! |
til I sewed them into rows
I take them by rows to the machine, and leave them connected to each other til they get pressed.I press seams on row one to the left, then row two to the right, row three to the left, row 4 the right
and sew on
press very well, then sew the rows together carefully. My squares are 2" unfinished size,
| aren't the prints cute? Ignore the color on this photo |
now, the quilting will add so much, that will talk a little thought. Right now it's 20 tall by 24 wide
From these scraps I pulled skinny strips of blues to make another needle book. I now have 3 and think I might keep one and give the others to friends.

Love the colored strips together, tiny single fold binding anchored on by zig zag stitch
the inside, some folded in this time to hold some scissors, love those fishies! Batting to hold needles trimmed with rick rack scissors.
small projects are doable because they only take an hour or so and you still get to look at scraps!

Your pumpkin quilt is so cute!
The pixel pumpkin is adorable! Sounds like your process is much like mine when sewing the squares together and alternat pressing. The needle book is a cute finish too.
That "watercolour" pumpkin is so gorgeous!
Sewing room museum - that one made me laugh. Your pumpkin looks wonderful. I sometimes think I'd like to try a watercolour project but haven't acted upon the thought.
The scrappy squares make a great pumpkin! I really like how you arranged them in lights and darks to show the shadowing in the inspiration photo. Fun project!
What a great pumpkin quilt! I love the watercolor effect. Your needle book reminded me I need to make a few too! Thanks
Beautiful!
great work on the pumpkin. you have more vision than i could possibly muster to portray a pumpkin with those pieces.
Love the meme having everything on display like a museum. That made me laugh, as I think about my yarn stash that probably looks messy to some folks, lol. Cute cute pumpkin made from all your little squares.

Your pumpkin is adorable, the watercolor technique works well and you have a keen eye for color coordination. The needle book is cute also, love this fish fabric too! Thank you for sharing and linking up, I will save the video for later, looks interesting!
I can feel the energy and love for what you create. These are beautiful. So many bold colors that normally fight each other you have blended so well. Thank you for sharing with FFO and have a lovely weekend.
Nice work!
Beautiful piecing of a pumpkin quilt, Lee Anna. Your work requires such skill and care, and it shows. Have a great week!
