I Like Thursdays #101 chickens, cranes, chili's and a poodle

Milo:  Mama let me start this week! Welcome to this week's list of likes by me, Milo the super Poodle! I love my indestructible chicken! It takes a biting and keeps on cluckin" ! I got one wing off, and it's not like they say... it didn't taste like chicken, BOL! Snort! wha' ??

LeeAnna: Okay, okay, I'll just step in here and do my list first shall I?
Milo: well, okay, but I'll be over here in case that chicken gets out of hand!
LeeAnna: Good to know I'm safe in your paws, darling. Welcome to this week's list of likes!

I like the old chili pepper lights that no longer work but are bright and cheerful against the walls here. I just clipped off the chord and this welcomes me home.Yes, I kept lights that didn't work.

I changed out tote bags and am using a Flamingo one for summer...

We went to Breckenridge for a craft show this weekend, sorry not to take pics but the artists here do not want pics of their work on a blog. After seeing the show we shopped around town and I found these little tongs
How cute are they? Perfect for little stuff like a cheese tray or luncheon meat at a party. Or to pinch your poodle, lol.
I liked seeing my angel on the bakers rack again. Glad to find it!
I liked the contrast of green trees in the neighborhood
and seeing this planter
It's a metal colander painted turquoise! What a great idea!
I like whatever bush this is that is all over the neighborhood. Really purple and lush!
I loved the shadow found on the sidewalk on today's walk... what is this tree?
Whatever it is, lots of the fruit got knocked off by large hail in last night's storm.

I love fabric! I washed some gifts this week so I got to handle the fabric even though the studio is not set up.
flamingos from Nancy
All the way from Maui... Mary went on her anniversary and brought back these lovelies for me

Isn't it astounding how artful fabric is??
She said this is specific to the shop, and has some very pretty scenes to use. Plus the other fabrics have hula girls, ukelele's and palm trees

I bought this one to go with my 1950's/ 1960's stash of fabric,   I have a plan...
and got a yard of these flowers for Mary, and a wee half yard for me...how fresh, who could resist!
I liked going to the mountains this weekend
Driving up and down steep roads, back and forth around curves
didn't see one of those but we saw a lot of traffic.
One of the artists amused himself by folding teensy little paper cranes, and gave me one
It's probably about a half inch nose to tail!! I saw a display of large ones hanging in a store, and decided I need to make some too.

Here is a great long list of cozy mysteries series... why, a person could be kept quite busy reading all these authors and their series!

Milo's Moments:

Hi again, I like watching the yard, and chasing off all the bunnies stupid enough to come in this week!! I'm staying away from that attack Pomeranian at the fence, but the bunnies are fair game. I'll let you know if I ever catch any.

I like going WITH my pawrents, not hearing "Milo stay here in your crate"
Oh no you don't! Take me too!
Last weekend we went to a craft show a million hours away (ed. note: it's more like 1.5 hours) and I visited with lots and lots of dogs, and looked at lots and lots of art.

I like pottery best. Yep, bowls are always worth a look, they could be holding a treat.

thanks for coming over, and check out mama's friends who also wrote a happy post of likes.

I think the purple plant is Mexican heather.
Can't wait to see what you do with your new fabrics.

Loving the Hawaiian fabrics...that scenic one would make a marvelous center for a medallion piece...Sounds like Milo is settling in pretty well...hugs, Julierose

Those little tongs are so cute. I miss Colorado's trees!!! And of course the mountains. Mary is a good friend to bring you such fun Hawaiian fabric. But, my favorite fabric is the 60's. Great fun post. mary

I was going to say I thought that purple plant was lavender, but I'm no plant expert! :) I've been seeing it lots of places, too - so pretty! Your little angel is sweet - looks like the perfect spot for her.

Quilting Babcia said...

I think that purple plant is Perovskia or Russian Sage. We had several plants in our gardens in Oregon and the honeybees and butterflies loved it. It seems to love hot dry climates, we don't see it here in WNY.

Those little tongs are hilarious - and just a perfect size. The Hawaiian fabrics are so cute.

I like your non-functional chile lights! Chile lights are one of my favorite parts of holiday decorating. WHen my light strands go bad, I just pull of the chiles and put them on a new strand. I don't have any that are made into a nice ristra like yours though... And the mountain pics are beautiful. I miss the mountains a ton!

Suzanne said...

I agree with Quilting Babcia….the purple plant is probably a Russian Sage. We had one for a few years. Beautiful, but takes over everything with runners. I love all your new fabrics.

Hi LeeAnna.
yes it's Russian sage
https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/russian-sage-flowers/russian-sage-care.htm
I think it's much better than Lavender. Here lavender looks good for a very short time. Russian sage keeps on looking good! I want one in my garden!
The other is a crab apple

a great tree that has something for each season!

I love that flamingo bad. I'd love to have one just like it.

Have a fabulous day. My best to your mom. ♥

Hi LeeAnna! I know you did NOT pinch your poodle with those cute little tongs!! Aww, love that flamingo fabrics - how perfect that is for you! And that 50s fabric - I cannot wait to see what you make with that. Aww Milo, I hope you don't catch one of those stupid bunnies. Mama will freak out! Happy Thursday! ~smile~ Roseanne

I love pretty fabric....especially patterns like the flamingos. I'm going to look at those cozy mysteries. Thanks for the link!

Ooh, what a lot to comment on this week. I'm going with the vote for Russian Sage. Lavender would probably be done blooming there by now. Run your hand along a branch and you should be able to tell by the smell.
Wonderful fabric selections. I think I have some of the red floral one somewhere that I thought would make a great purse. And the 50's one reminds me of your paper pieced old fashioned TV's and sofas so I'm guessing it will show up with those someday.
Milo is such a cutie. Give him a chin scratch for me.

Love those tongs! And the flamingo fabric is pretty cool, too.

I didn't realize how flamingoes are everywhere even here! Next door neighbour was wearing flamingo earrings I think because they go to Florida quite often wintertime. You always photograph such interesting tid bits on your outings. I love to hear Milo's point of view...he's like his Mama and has quite a way with words.

The little tongs are so cute! We have a lot of Russian Sage planted in our area too. It's so pretty.

A lot to like :)
And Milo - haha!

Lovely series of photos. I think that plant with the purple flowers is called cat mint.

Some great 'likes' this week. And just to confirm a previous comment, that is Russian Sage. Pretty but a bit invasive in my mind. July and August are it's prime time. Have a fun and safe time up in the mountains.

Lovely shots. I love that chicken.

We used to go skiing in Breck every winter, so I know it well … I am not sure if it is more crowded in the summer or winter (or both). Love the colander as planter idea - self-draining! That is quite a stash of fabric - I like the one that you said you plan to use in a 50s/60s project. We are heading to Aspen next week - please make sure you organize good weather, OK?

I'm glad you are settling in to your Colorado home. Enjoy the lovely fabric and those tongs!

Lots of wonderful fabrics there and some delightful colours and scenery too. I think I'm with Milo though, in liking bunnies to chase. There are fair game here too. NOT so the small dogs as they just yap too much to make carrying them away fun. MOL

Its good to see you on the Pet Parade, thank you for coming.

Looks like you had a busy weekend Milo! Those little tongs with the tiny hands are super adorable! I used to have a pointer with a hand holding out its index pointer finger that I could use under the document camera during presentations. It was always a hit! I hope your tiny tongs prove just as amusing for you and your guests.
