who are those attractive people in the mirror?? |
More about the show itself next post, but on to the important stuff... I managed to buy a few items.
Support is important in a spouse! Drew was with me at a quilt shop after the show... Zooks in Intercourse PA. They had a massive sale, with hundreds of bolts at $3.19 a yard.
WHAT?!
while in line to cut/pay I shopped the bolts not put back yet! And the staff were nice, didn't rush me, and were so helpful. What a good time. I mean, comparing to the $11 paid for a panel of labels at the show, this was too good to pass up.
Down the street at the Old Country Store there were batiks for $5.99 yard. I was oh-so-restrained and got one two yard piece, pink with lanterns and one 1 yd piece. That plus a giftie for my friend Nancy, and a jar of pickled beets for Drew!
On to another store where the batiks were also on special for $5.99 yd.
The whole kit and kaboodle |
Pictures of quilts can be seen HERE!
I enjoyed seeing the quilts, but the shopping is the most fun event of the show.

Enjoy all your goodies, as we all look forward to seeing what you do with them! 8)
I have a friend in Allentown - we've visited the Lancaster area and bought much fabric there :D I don't remember getting deals like those though - WOW! I would have dallied for a long time in the batiks sale :D
I'm looking forward to "Use it! 2!"!
That was a great day out!

Looks like you have so many new fun things! I bought a few things at AQS, but could have spent soooo much more. I especially loved the booth with all the handbag hardware, but couldn't make snap decisions so will end up ordering online from them. Have fun with your new swag!! :)
You got some great bargains there.
Check your local Bernina store and see if they will match the show prices. Sometimes they will. You did a great job shopping. I'd be buying way more batiks than you did.
Wow! Look at all of those yummy treats!
Lovely deals and glad you showed, uh hummmm... restraint? lol Happy of ryou and that Drew enjoyed himself too, wonderful.
I know how much fun that can be since when I visited with my Mom in Florida I went to the AQS show in Daytona and had ooodles of non restraint fun too. LOL
Before you spend thousands on a machine at a far off location you need to determine how much support you might need for using it correctly, if it has a bunch of new features you are unfamiliar with you might need local support. And some local sewing machine stores will charge for that training if you bought the machine elsewhere. Sometimes if you take those show prices back to the local shop they will match them. When I bought my first machine at the state fair - for my machine classes I had to drive to the that store location. So for every class an hour drive one way. The last machine I bought local and she matched the show prices from a quilting expo.
Great shopping...I'm jealous! LOL!! Hey I"m seeeing a lot circles in your posts...next weeks' Tuesday Archives theme is CIRCLES. Stay tuned:)
Boy you sure know how to score on the fabric! Well done. ღ
