what the bee made...

Light one by Diana D. and the dark one by June
Thought you might enjoy seeing pictures of the quilts being made by my bee mates.    (The post about my quilt is  HERE )
I didn't get pics of all the people working but you'll see some examples of their fabric choices. It really changes the look if you choose hand dyes, or tone on tones vs batiks printed with pattern like mine and Helen's.

Diana D. chose a batik jelly roll from Batiks Etc. and a mottled beige background. I love it. June started with a jelly roll as well, and both of them took some time to choose the right ones to shade from light to dark. Lovely.
Far right is from Wanda, the next is Marsha's
I think we might have had about 15 people making this pattern and 5 others doing their own projects.
Some members worked from home and brought it in to show their progress.
We meet in the library's conference room, which is well lit with a terrific design wall in place for us to use. We always have returning members in the summer as many are teaching during the year. We always order take out for lunch eating at long tables as we catch up on news.
Helen's block
Helen is using her collection of golden oranges and a gorgeous mottled blue batik for her star.

I have the best time looking at all the choices. The same pattern looks so different, doesn't it? I like scraps, so I varied the color and prints. Helen kept to one color for the star but varied prints. Torie kept hers analogous with blues and greens, very calm. Bern is making a larger quilt with Autumn colors
much more vibrant than my picture shows.

Bern's 4 block unit, more to come

Cheryl used Dr. Seuss scraps to make this vibrant fun exciting 4 block unit. She plans to do a red inner border of about 2 inches and a final of the Seuss letters.
She will donate it to our guild's program for children at Christmas. The salvation army supplies us with teddy bears, that we dress and make a child's quilt for so that children in the area receive a gift on the holidays.
Some child (like me!) will love this.

And of course mine....

They are great blocks. The one with the mottled beige background is gorgeous, and that's from someone who's not a fan of beige

It's always so much fun to see what different choices people make with the same block. So much pretty going on in that room!

I love to be at a retreat or group that makes the same pattern. I do a mystery quilt every year for my guild and it is exciting to see the different ways to do the same thing!

I love seeing others' fabric choices. Guess that's one of the reasons I read blogs - learn more about color. Thanks for sharing your group with us.

Your star has turned out beautifully, despite your fabric issues. Quilting in a group like this and seeing all the variations of other's choices looks like a load of fun.
