The library returned Covenant of Water for audio book... it's a whopper at 31 audible hours!!! I've now got 6 1/2 hours left to hear!
following the lives of a family in India... I'm on the generation where a daughter becomes a doctor despite being harassed by men in school, and she has the pull of career against pull of loving a man who has taken up the fight for liberation.
we have a neighbor in this neighborhood, who is from India and walks with a limp... I asked about it and he told me it happened in the war... I wish they talked more to us about their lives in India

I found Miracle workers season 4.... same actors each season (all fabulosus) but different irreverant wacky scenario... the kind of show that you find yourself shocked laughing.... did they just say that?
I'm seeking games for my ipad
I had to get a new ipad with the new IOS which is all advertising all the time, grrrrrrrrrr all that without a home button, but now none of my fave games, the ones that take me out of real life for a while, work on it. I need suggestions for things like matching games, visual puzzle like games (think tetris genre) or little race games where you set up a hotel.
The prompt today is about Fairs and Festivals near where you live, or ones you love
I am a Festival lover. We were driving from Annapolis to Lake Placid one year, and saw a sign for a festival going on. We stopped and had a great time walking around... can't remember what is was form maybe early Autumn.
When we were on another trip, we ended up at a "ramp" festival, a vegetable somewhat like leeks, somewhat like garlic and it was hilarious... they may have had a Ramps queen.
The Maryland Sheep and Wool festival was awesome, it had sheepdog demos Llamas and Alpacas, shopping, plants, music, so much. We went yearly.

Here in Colorado we tried to visit craft shows in Golden, in Denver, In parking lots in neighboring towns.... I love a gathering. We visited the Lavendar festival connected with the Botanic Gardens, and went to a ghost tour at the Botanic Gardens. There is a large fancy art show in Denver yearly... we went one year but it's hot here at festivals. Crowded and hot and no parking.
The zoo had a free day, sort of like a festival so we went, having to park mile away and walk in the heat to the gate.
I grew up with the Gasparilla Festival, with parade (sort of like a local mardi gras feel to it) but with pirates (rich business men dressed up shooting off blanks and giving the shells to little kids. I marched with our high school band in it every year, and as an adult I was in it with the Renaissance Festival group. I was also on a float one time with friends who had a hot air balloon, and we threw out black beans instead of necklaces or shell casings!
We can't do any of that now, as it's unsafe from disease, and real bullets since so many Americans are so angry and bring guns to events it's never safe. Why are so many Americans, so bitter against other Americans. Wouldn't the quality of life be better if they didn't hate other Americans?
Milo's moment
Milo is self aware. He does not like to be uncomfortable in any way for any amount of time. He is a joiner however, so when we get ready for a walk, he's right there, pointing out his harness and leash, by the front door (silently hoping we forget the leash this time) ready for the adventure.
Mostly he wants to be with us. The problem comes in when his comfort meter goes off, saying,
"ooops too hot!"

then he seeks shade, stops, pretends to sniff or need to do some business that might take a while. Important business. He won't look at us, doesn't respond to a snapped leash or our voices to come on. He steadfastly looks at the ground, or gazes into the distance away from us, ears no longer taking in our level of sound.

If he's thirsty and he's often thirsty. That boy can knock back a bowl of water in no time. He can't settle down til his bowl is refilled, but he gives no sign of that being the problem.
"I don't want to complain he blinks at me"
my lab used to pick her bowl up, come in front of me and drop it on my foot.
If he has to poop, he paces, then bites the daddy's arm. Tugs at Dad's arm, growls, wrestles.
my last poodle went to the door and tapped it with his long toenails til we let him out.
Milo likes attention, hates the tv... the tv coming on means, annoy the pawrents til they play with you. He has an unerring ability to time any length show to the last 15 minutes, then he peacefully lies down.
He doesn't want to eat til he's ready. The kibble must be coated in warm water to make a sort of gravy, and increasingly he wants to dine al fresco on the back porch with one of us holding the bowl. He must stand a certain way so he knows if anyone is walking next to our yard. He likes green beans, but not every time they're offered. He likes scrambled eggs but not all the time.
He is tuned into his physical and emotional needs.but like a bad date, he expects us to just KNOW what he needs and give it to him.
I love him so much, he gives me so much, I'll do anything he needs gladly in order to make him happy

Hawaii is the only place outside of Japan where there are summer bon dances. Flutes and drums and agent movements that we dance on the summer's evening with the visiting ancestors in a lovely summer festival in Hawaii!

I hope there comes a time when you feel comfortable going back out to the craft shows and fairs that you've enjoyed so much in the past. Milo is such a character! I guess dogs have their habits and quirks just like we humans do.
Milo is a hoot!
Those fur babies - we are pretty willing to cater to their every whim. Such interesting personalities too!
My iPad games are pretty limited. I play HayDay which is entertaining for 15-20 minutes at a time, I do puzzles every day. The puzzles use pretty pictures. And I do Sudoku. Other than that my iPad is mostly my reading tool.
The craft show shopping thing is usually fun. Milo, we sure enjoyed learning a lot more about you. You're a most special dude, you really are! Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
I will add both those titles to my TBR list. I too, hope someday you will feel safe enough to attend some outdoor festivals and fairs!
I have no ideas for games for your ipad. I only play a crossword puzzle and a jigsaw puzzle. And I'm almost ready to dump them because of all the ads!!!! Hate them!

I enjoyed reading about those wonderful gatherings, it seems in more peaceful times too. And your life with Milo is interesting also. Ned is very laid back and we think too old for his age. Very settled and quiet. Only really comes alive when Abbey and Petey arrive for ball playing.
My daughter invited me to go to a sheep & wool festival in Virginia but I couldn't make it due to other plans. She said the sheep shearing is really fun to watch and the shopping is incredible. Oh well, maybe next year. Good to hear that, in spite of the terribly hot weather, Milo still wants to go for a walk. Gracie does too but we don't go too far before she starts pulling us back home. Ha!
I've seen those books but never read them. I'm hoping more quilt shows and fairs start up again soon. I've really missed them! I love seeing what Milo is up to. My cats go on the deck but they've stayed in due to the heat and humidity. I don't blame them!
Milly likes her food bowl on her mat in the living room...she’s a sociable eater and doesn’t like to eat alone in the kitchen. They are such characters aren’t they?
