We have had rain, which should help our new grass plugs to root... I'm rooting for them!
I loved doing a quilt pattern with my friend Cindy this week, as well as the Zen Stitch workshop (online hand stitching fibers) I also loved that Joy is back, and we zoomed this week!
I Loved that another leeeeetle horse was born to the Freesian Horses (in the Netherlands) and felt like a proud grandma since I've been watching their videos for years, and saw the Mama as a young filly growing up, now give birth this week to her first foal. the video link
I made a wonderful lentil soup this week
I think the magic ingredient is leeks and fresh ginger root. Of course I used ours up and Whole Foods didn't "have" any for delivery in our order. I mean, come on y'all... why is there no food at whole foods in Denver so often? What's the deal?
Anyway the soup was perfect, savory and filling, and a perfect lunch accompaniment for the week.
I love the book I got free from Amazon, and can take all the time I need to savor it unlike library books

Lets start with one I have no memory of, but the mother said she took me to a Frankie Avalon concert when I was about 5, and he leaned down to blow me a kiss...
I have a hazy memory of attending a local taping of Romper Room when about 6, although Miss Whatever never saw me in her magic Mirror when saying kids names... LeeAnna wasn't a common name I guess.
When I stayed in Salt Lake City for a summer, I visited Sundance for an evening concert, and oy vey!
Robert Redford... yummm handsome as he aged , I was a few people back up on the hill, but I saw him with my own two eyes!
Speaking of 8 degrees of separation... I sat about 10 feet away from Kevin Bacon when he and his brother performed a concert in a small venue in Annapolis Md. I think he looked right at me as he sang...
Living near Washington DC we used to attend the Library of Congress Nat'l Book Festival, where I saw and sometimes met famous authors like Diana Gabaldon, Nicholas Sparks, Gregory Maguire, so many really, so close, but the one who shook my hand, and signed my poster, was Lake Woebegone's own Garrison Keilor... he is tall y'all. I told him I danced to his show on our 1st wedding anniversary trip.
He was not impressed.
When I was growing up, and so very romantic as a preteen, we used to go to Ghost Town in Maggie Valley NC each summer. I got to be up close to kid stars I had mini crushes on, like Hank Ketchum from Denise the Menace, and Johnny Crawford from the Rifleman, and I seem to remember Troy Donahue doing "shoot out shows" too... the stars used to come down to our lodge to relax in the evenings.
I got to go to a movie premiere in LA once, a Michael J Fox movie but he wasn't there... sad...
as a quilter, I got to know a lot of the "big name" teachers/authors, often hanging out with them, and once sharing a room at the Houston show with Robbie Joy E. They rip out their mis stitches like the rest of us, one at a tine
DH and I stayed on Rodeo Drive at the Beverly Hills Hilton when he had a business trip... we were shopping, as one does, and in came Catherine Heigle. She's a lot more petite than I thought she'd be.
Finally, I dated a musician for about 5 years, as a young working woman, and although he was well known locally, not a celebrity but he had friends who were more well known so they became my friends. I got to sit at the "girlfriend's table and that felt kinda special. He sang to me even writing me a song once.
It is fun to think back to these. What about you?

OCTOPUS! With all his legs!
And all his legs have squeakers! Man o man did my Daddy want that toy, he chased me all over the family room to catch it but I'm quick!
When I was ready, I laid down on the floor, called him over so I could put my feet and new toy on daddy's legs, and had a really fun time chewing off a leg right away!
Mama: I know! I couldn't believe you were gonna tear it up within an hour of getting it
Milo: I know, you almost messed up my good time, by interrupting me! I mean, it's my toy, I like to chew their legs off, just watch that talky-talk and let me play Mama!
Mama: Okay oh wise one... have fun

Ooh! You met lots of fun celebrities. I forgot to mention I met Eleanor Borns at Road to California in 2015, I think. Again, not in Wyoming! I don’t have iris either, but I sure could plant some so they would be there next year. I think they say, “Spring” also!
It was fun to read about all your brushes with fame, and yet the best is your own dog with a new toy. My own dog received another Billy the Squid this week after destroying two identical ones. So far the squeaker is still in Billy's head. :-)

So, I was in MI last weekend and missed last week's post, but have to put in my 2 cents on favorite music. I like most everything you listed (opera not so much) and want to add some of my favorites: Barbra Sreisand, Carly Simon, James Taylor, John Denver, Celine Dion, Fleetwood Mac, the BeeGees. I don't listen to music much now, but do listen to podcasts and audiobooks. I'll have to get the Crazyladies of Pearl Street as I grew up near Albany. Iris are one of my favorite flowers. I have many iris paintings and too many iris mugs. No celebrity close encounters that I can recall. I live a rather boring life.

About 30 years ago we attended a Wayne Newton show with some friends, who had gotten back stage passes with the tickets. We all got to meet Wayne Newton, and had a photo taken with him. I met George Bush Sr once - when he was VP.
I was more excited to get to meet Jenny Doan at Missouri Star about 5 years ago. I have photo of me with her.
Your soup sounds yummy! I've never used leeks in soup, but would like to try them sometime. Meeting favorite authors would definitely be a fun experience! It has been enjoyable to listen to several speak at our Loveland Loves to Read author talks over the years. Happy Thursday!

Not too many celebrity encounters here, but that is ok with me. Love Milo's new toy and that it has squeakers...always the first to go. Percy is lovely on our mantle!
Love that Iris! Our dogs love their toys even when they are chewed pretty badly. If I threw any out, I had to do it while they were outside because otherwise they'd sit by the trash can and ask for the item back. Wishing you a fun and happy weekend!
You did get to have great celebrity encounters. Your soup sounds wonderful. We have dismembered toys around the house too and Ned does the same thing...bring a pitiful little bit to us to play with.

What a fun post to read - you've been in famous company through the years. I haven't met any celebs, but have met many other "important" people. Probably my most notable was having lunch in the same room as the king and queen of Norway. Tundra had a squid like that, but it has since been destroyed.
I love reading about your celebrity encounters. I used to love Romper Room. She may have said my name once. My name wasn't very common either. Your soup sounds good! Milo is so smart! So glad to see his enjoys his toys!
Love your isi rendition. One of my favorite late spring bloomers and the blue ones are my all-time favorites.
