Feeling Pinkish

I pieced this in a scrap frenzy a few months ago. I got stalled with whether to border it or not. I just love it, and was pleased as punch to do another abstract that I liked! I like Pink. I know that may not be popular, it's just so, well girly but I find it refreshing and cheerful and happy. I like to wear bright pink lipstick.

I took out my overflowing pink scrap bin one day, organized them, started with tiny one inch squares. Then I randomly pieced itsy bitsy pieces into bigger squares. Then, into strips for diamonds, why not? And finally I ordered them the way you see it now, into a  condo building.

Well that's what I see. Little condo's connected by walkways. Stained glass windows. It's the closest I have come to just enjoying an abstract of my own. I have some sweet fabrics hidden in here you'll see after it's finished! It just fills me with glee! Whee!

It started existence as a playtime activity then grew into something more important, so now's it's an PhD  (project half done) because the question looms.
To Border, or Not to Border, THAT is the question. What do you think?

I like it as is, a border wouldn't be bad, but I think it would "contain" it and I like it free....hope that made sense.

I don't think I would put a coloured border but you could bind it in the same colour as the background. It great though!

I would go for no border, just a light binding outside that white background. I love this piece of art. Beautiful!

It could use a border, but not a solid or heavy one ... maybe something that has the background in places?

I can't imagine this with a border that wouldn't detract from the centre, so I agree with Shauna; don't put it in a cage.

Isn't it great when color and fabric fill us with glee?
I vote for no border - I don't think it needs to be "framed". Love it just the way it is!

I agree with the majority - definitely doesn't need a border! It's a lovely work!

Border. Green.

My way of dealing with issues of border or no border is to lay it on the ground and trial a few fabrics. Leave it all out for a while and walk around and ponder. That helps in the decision making process for me. From where I sit, I don't think it needs borders, but perhaps a scrappy very light pink binding?
PS I think I'm a pink girl too now that I have made all my pink blocks!

Beautiful piece, reminiscent of the Sochi Olympics with the colorful, falling diamonds. I vote for a facing rather than a border or binding.

I agree that it needs to be free and not controlled or contained. A facing would work well

My first inclination is no border but then I thought what about a soft gray? Hmm?

This is really beautiful! I think it's great as is and could just be finished off with a facing, but what about adding a bit more background first? Perhaps in uneven widths around the quilt, depending on what might look most balanced with the different sized elements that are already there.

I like it without a border -- pink binding, maybe?

Hi LeeAnna!
Love the Pink and white!
How about a border on only 2 sides? one long and one short? An L shaped?

I love this and I am not a big fan of pink. Looking forward to seeing how you finish this ... :) Pat
