I got my hexi spiral ready to stitch and just love these colors

I have been busy going through batik scraps, unused for years. I pulled out those easy to cut to squares in sizes 2.5" 3" and 3.5" and those joined all the other colors I cut out of other fabrics. I have many in each size to use in future projects
this changes a long held practice of keeping all batiks separately but which led to not using them often
All my fabrics and scraps have been washed in hot water and detergent, then sorted and kept by type or color. This is usually workable for me.
Batiks cause sinus trouble when pressed if not thoroughly scoured. You know that scent they have?
now I am mixing them in more, they make me happy with their color intensity and pattern

All are so pretty
then I ran across this little scrap and it will become inspiration for future works... the pattern, the colors and the relative amounts of each color to each other.... inspiration comes from many sources!
the extra GGG blocks ( on the right below) will make it 15 rows by 12 across.... with borders maybe large enough to cover a human for a nap
otherwise I have less flashy work to do this week. The watercolor quilt needs borders and quilting.
the two tiny scrap pieces also need to be finished into "flimsies" and then maybe tote bags or book covers for notebooks, or or or....
a close up of one of our patio chairs for the end of blue green month... but I will continue to work on my projects of blue green because they sooth my soul at a time when it is in need of soothing
if you need me (or my snoopervisor) we'll be in the studio!

I just love shades of blue, blue-green, teal, etc. so your current hexi project is so nice to see!
The colour of your patio chair is close to the blue chairs we had on our balcony in Greece - it speaks to me of sun-drenched, bleaching intensity light, seaside and glare off water, so much light.
You have some beautiful projects in the works. Batiks are wonderful for adding saturated colors, but they don't stretch like my other cotton fabrics, which can be a challenge. Enjoy picking out more scraps and finishing a few projects.

Your aqua/teal/turquoise batiks and fabrics are fabulous. I still have not found my rhythm being a puppy mommy. And then the home improvement HE_ _, isn’t making it easy either. Someday, things will calm and I will get back to creating. Love sharing your creations.

Love your blog. I have back pain around my shoulders and neck. I use Walmart's Great Value COLD & HEAT ( I think it is hotter than icy hot). The heat seeps in and helps so much with my pain.
Those hexie spirals are just delightful! Interesting about batiks causing sinus issues. I hadn't noticed that but then again, I may have prewashed them back when I used them more often. I do love how they evoke a watercolor aesthetic in a quilt, though, and they are lovely for appliqué since they don't fray as readily.

As always, so much free-spirited beauty being worked up in your studio. I too keep my batiks separate becasue I tend to focus on them in all-batik projects. They wind up in projects only becausue any scraps go in the general scraps bins. It's been a truly hot summer so in there is the place to be!
