List of likes for the week... starting with a long walk around the neighborhood on the weekend. The view showed a storm brewing in the mountains....
Our housing development is very large, but on the edge of it are some farmettes and on this day I was drawn to the donkeys
I would like to have room for a couple donkeys. These two were across the paddock when I called out in baby talk to them. They came cantering over, and sized us up as having no treats so they resumed eating. I stood there a long time cooing at them, their ears wiggling in response. They had another friendHow beautiful!! All content and peaceful in their pasture, willing to let their spirit soothe my soul.
We walked home from the edge of the neighborhood seeing areas we haven't walked to in a while. Then the wind began to blow, the trees bent over to it, and rain started....
view from the back porch/slider |
we picked up some ice balls and they felt dry, firm, hard even
yes DH's hand is also dry |
we had just planted the wildflower seed, and lettuce beds
We've been watching a new show on tv about a young married couple who moved from the US to France to renovate her inherited castle. HGTV show called Castle Impossible. Ah the young....
I watched these short videos on youtube

every library book written by rainbow rowell and would appreciate the library not taking back books before I'm done. !
Our conversation starter this week:
do you go to parties on Memorial day? what do you do there? How do you feel about the holiday in general and the men and women who pledge to protect us?
I guess it's the official start of our summer season.... in fact I went out on a limb yesterday and put on white capri pants. (a small rebellion against the system)
I don't think I've ever been to a memorial day picnic or party but the absolutely gross neighbors here shoot off fireworks like they are fighting a war.
I respect and have gratitude for those who protect us. Thank you so much.
I only wish the world could put the money they put into wars, in conflict resolution techniques, into training people to live together, teaching them how to negotiate, to stay within your borders, to tolerate others and handle life in a non aggressive way.
Yep a dreamer. Doesn't stop me from being grateful for the people who protect us, as well as first responders who will no doubt have too many emergencies this weekend to deal with.
My blog, my opinions.
Tell me how you'd answer the question.
now please visit these folk to see what they liked this week. Let me know if you did a post I should link in.... as as always I love to read your stories too

Awwww, the man serenading his little goat! And thanks for the shout-out!
I feel like spring & her storms have been a doozy this year.
I totally see the heart in the hail
How fun to see those donkeys! Next time, take a treat along for them. I bet you will be their favorite person within a few minutes! Your quilt painting is lovely!
Loved your post today. I’m out of my element today, I forgot to answer your question. Memorial Day is usually special for us. Our youngest granddaughter was born on Memorial Day back in 1993, often we celebrate that. This year it is early, her birthday isn’t until the 30th.
That hail looks pretty big to me. I can see a heart too! I love your quilt painting. It's so fun to see the donkeys! I'm sure you can bring them a treat next time!
Sweet donkeys. Now you know they are there so you can visit more often. I threw caution to the wind and wore white shorts to my grandson's soccer game about a week ago - when we had temps in the 90s. Then March came back and we've been in the 40s ever since with wind and rain. Memorial Day was a big event in my Minnesota home town. There was a parade with the girl scouts, boy scouts, HS band, VFW and Legion members all involved. Then a big program at the cemetery with the roll call of local military deaths. The scouts put wreaths on all of the veteran graves. There were speakers and patriotic music. My husband said it was a big honor as an 8th grader to read the Flanders Field piece at their Memorial Day program in his hometown. When my kids were growing up here in small town SD, they were involved in putting out the wreaths and the program for Memorial Day. This year our Quilts of Valor group will be presenting 3 quilts at the Memorial Day program in a nearby town. Nearly every community in our area still has a program of some kind in honor of those who gave their lives in the military.
I'm not a fan of hail! An area not far from us had a horrific hail storm a gfew years ago that totally destroyed a mall's roof and many car dealorship cars. Was that terrible tornado that let down a few days ago near you? Our daughter was flying home for a business trip that afternoon and I was so nervous,
Donkeys are peaceful animals --and hard workers! We go to a neighbirhood tribute to vets on Memorial Day but don;t have a party. I recently learned that Fort Collins has a wonderful Veterans Memorial Park and that a traveling Viet Nam Memorial Wall is set up there on display every two years.
I love donkeys. They are just so cute and your hail is unbelievable this late in May! Love your quilt painting!
Wow, I'm glad you were indoors when those hailstones were falling!
Of course Memorial Day isn't a thing here in Canada, but we have other weekends when the idiots think they should set off fireworks without thought to what they could set on fire. Rather than fireworks I wish they'd put the money to better use.
Donkeys are so cool and always such a treat to see. Looks like you had a hail of a good walk. We have the evil fireworks on every holiday and then some. Thanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
We had a heavy hail storm this week but generally the weather has been hot and we've even managed a BBQ or two so far this year. I love the donkeys too.
Hugs,
Annie x
Wow - haven't seen hail like that in a long while!
My gosh, those storms way out east were really something else. While alarms were going off all over the eastern part of the metro area, nary a drop fell in NW Denver. It's like we're on separate planets. Let's hope calmer heads rule for the Memorial Day weekend. 🤞🏼
P.S. Can't tell you hope much I enjoyed seeing donkeys. They always manage to make me smile so thanks for sharing.
I will have to check out Castle Impossible. Hail is never welcome. This spring has had several trouble making storms. Thank you for linking up and have a great weekend.
