also from the back sliding door... from my blogging perch I can look out and this week watched our yard bunny come onto the porch, climb into and around that turquoise pot, hop out and peer into the back door.
Sewing
I love handwork so I am happy to sew back binding by hand on my latest quilt finish, then add beads.
I take a free pull out drawer to hold things like this to take down to the TV room, needle/thread/beads and quilt to sew the binding to the back with a sleeve. Detail pics on Saturday's creativity round up post

Fine Dining
we tried this frozen dinner and loved it. It is spicy but not too spicy, and savory and full of flavor. The only bad thing was we each ate what they thought was two servings, we weren't stuffed after. We'll get them again for sure

conversation starter this week
as a youngster or teen, did you get a new dress, hat or shoes for
Easter? go to church or have big family gatherings? Do you mark the
holiday now in some way?
after all, we are all antique little girls under all the adult-ing we do
It was a big ritual every year in our house. New clothes and shoes for Easter (can't wear those worn out brown school shoes with a pretty dress) and being the youngest/'now only I got a dress, socks that fit usually with a bit of lace, new shiny patent leather shoes, hat, tiny white gloves, and sometimes a child purse. I have one pic of me age 3 dressed like that crying. The mother said I was mad because I had to wait til after church for my candy basket.

We went to the formal turn of the century Methodist church and had family luncheon after. As I got older, and drove, I went to sunrise services by myself. I LOVE a dress, still, even though colorado is so very casual. I'm the only one in a skirt or dress around here. Can't wear fancy shoes with all my injuries nowadays but fondly remember the kitten heel shoes I had about grade 8 or 9.

remembering Milo this Easter
Milo here, I like it when Mama plants a squirrel/bunny/chipmunk trap out back!
Mama: MILO! what are you talking about?
Milo: when you plant veggies, all the critters show up for dinner!
Mama: well they're disappointed... what veggies do you like?
Milo: Oh I like a lot of what you like, I like them cooked with butter too. Potatoes, carrots, cabbage, any beans especially lima's... no asparagus though.

Love your adorable parasol block! Mom made my clothes and I always got 2-3 new dresses at Easter time. We did get dressed up for church way back then and you had to wear a hat or a veil on your head.

Easter, and every Sunday growing up was Mass, with a veil required.

Honey crisps are our favourites too so we pretty much have them all winter long.
Have never watched Survivor or Amazing Race and gave up on American Idol because I heartily disliked Simon Cowell's meanness to people. He might have been right in what he said, but I thought he was simply being cruel. I know he's not on the show any more. We like to watch The Voice because the judges there give constructive suggestions.
Can't wait for them to dump Sai on Survivor. Nothing but loud-mouth trouble. lol! Love your Venus de Garlic! Perfect for any kitchen decor, especially ours. Haha
That tiny parasol block is so sweet! I love that you have a bunny that comes right up to the door. We have many that hang out in our yard, but have never seen one come up that close. Looking forward to seeing your yellow quilt finish!

Yes, as a Coloradan we can never truly predict the seasons! We are expecting snow where we live, in the foothills today, afte ra week of warmth. Your quilt is coming along so beautifully. We also like Honey Crisp apples! We often eat them sliced with peanit butter. The chicken meatballs you had sounds good! I;ll have to look for them and serve them over rice or pasta.
That little parasol block is wonderful. I like hand stitching binding too. It's relaxing. I've been feeling a bit frantic lately, so it has been good to have binding to work on in the evenings. Honey Crisp apples are one of our favorites. I've been buying Cara Cara oranges for Dave lately, but I rarely eat oranges as they bother my stomach. Your conversation starter triggered lots of memories. My mother made all of my dresses, and there was always a new one for Easter. And white gloves and an Easter bonnet. She would slide a nickel into one white glove for the collection plate at Sunday school. One of my favorite dresses was made from a white dotted swiss fabric, and the little dots looked like they had eye lashes.
I remember new dresses to wear to church - we didn't go out anywhere else really. Even though my sister and I were 6 years apart Mum dressed us the same - dresses out of the same piece of fabric meant savings. These days I seem to have forgotten what it's like to dress up - can't remember the last ballgown or party outfit I wore.

I loved your Cottage and Dog finish in the last post, LeeAnna. And this Parasol is so pretty with the embellishments. You are so great with those fine details. Annie is right, we will all fondly remember Milo.
I miss Milo too though I'm sure not as much as you but then I miss all the dogs we've had but probably my last schnauzer boy Stan who was so special. Loving my new boy but he is so different and little daisy too, what a madam. I have to say we do have some ready meals occasionally too and they are usually pretty good and great when you just don't feel like cooking which is always me as hubby doesn't, mainly because he once tried and it didn't end well but that's a story for another time.
