creativity this week abstracts with paint and fabric

welcome to this week's creativity update.

this week I overcame a lot of pain... (my lovely puppy and I collided and I left with an injury) (no poodles were hurt in this episode)

Ha ha! I thought it was a game til Mama started limping...

...to paint a bit and sew a bit by machine and by hand

I wanted to use up some paint in my palette so I just painted shapes on my sketchbook page...

I do love warm colors and overlapping watercolors   triangles, squares, circles

the scrap focus of the month of June is pastels.... so it showed up in my abstract painting too
OBSERVE  watercolors, caligraphy ink pens, dry stamps to remove wet paint

some pastel solid fabrics...

and another hexie spiral is begun...

more warm colors merge in the sketchboolk
watery paint, dry stamps lifting color, stamps leaving ink on colors
gold, fuchia gray
I like this tiny one a lot... must remember to make a larger picture using these colors in future

I put two fabric sewn abstracts together on the design wall and they caught my breath!

same colors as in the painting.... I am attracted to warm colors, this time orange and pink...

I remember going to modern art galleries and seeing the artists painting abstracts in one color
I called it the big red door concept
and look at me doing it my way now!
don't know where it's going but I know the lovely geese don't travel well with them!
That's why a design wall is a GOOD thing
I like to spy on mama this way!

Your work is always so creative and beautiful and we hope that you are feeling better after your collision with Alfie!

You are always so clever with your art. I have tote boxes full of very expensive quilting fabric. If we lived closer I would give it to you. I love the orange but the pastels really speak to me as well. Sorry about the colliding with sweet Alfie. Because of your lovely art today I think I will go through some fabric to see what I can do with it. I used it mostly to create Huichol beading on it. But painting may be the way to go. Thank you for the inspiration and have a nice day today.

I enjoy seeing your creative process! So sorry for your collision! I too had a fall a couple weeks ago and landed so hard! But like you, no broken bones. Healing vibes sent your way!

i love the pink and orange - I'd not have been bold enough to try it but tonally it really works.

Oddly enough, I like the turquoise geese strip with the orange and the pink. So sorry about the set-to with Alphie - sorry you got the worst of it though.

Those pretty pastels are going to make a sweet hexie spiral block! Loved the cat video, too!

Love your "observe" work, the pastel pull and the pup. Do hope you are feeling better.

Only a brave artist would combine orange with pink ... and look how awesome they turned out. Lovely creative work ... and not to forget the pottery cat LOL. So sweet, I wonder if they knew that they were creating art :) Last, but not least, your adorable dog ... you are surrounded with all kinds of beauty.

Sorry about the accident. I have a family member and a friend who were both badly injured by their dogs. One ended up in the hospital for a few days from a bad fall when the dog pulled really hard against the leash on a hill outside their house. Luckily a neighbor saw the accident and came to her aid. The 2nd person ended up in the ER with a badly fractured leg that took a really long time to heal. She tripped over the dog who ran between her feet. Do be careful. LOVE all the pretty fabrics, especially what you made with the bright pink and orange.

I pulled out pastels and again this month didn't feel I have enough to make blocks. I will check for next month's color.

It took me a long time to appreciate monochromatic work. Then I discovered the subtle nuances. Your work reminds me of that.
