I did what I could this week,
life is a challenge right now, and life interrupted my sewing time this week.
(Pardon the pictures, it was dark in my studio )
The round robin prompt from Kathleen this week was to add "double blocks" to our growing quilts...
I could not make things easy for myself on this challenge.... oh no, LOL

I googled images and wanted to do trapunto raised water lillies but wasn't sure that fit the promptI thought, start with double 4 patch and choose watery fabrics. What size? it would be nice to just know but when you are the designer it's not always obvious. My dragonfly blocks finish at 12" my hourglass blocks finish at 4" so the double 4 patch will finish at 6" all divisible by the dragonfly size
| and it all has to fit in with this! |
start with water lily and sparkly blue fabrics, make 8 small 4 patches
Decide how to make the little 4 patch into a big 4 patch with another water fabric
oh yes I'll like this. I ran out of energy, something is sapping my oomph. I do not want to mess up this pretty quilt so had to stop to do a post to link up in time.
Generally the 6 days we have to do the work, write about it and link up are rushing me so much
the plan is to use the leaf papers to shape my lillies with that lovely batik pink fussy cutit's going to look so pretty when sewn into the double 4 patch ( a big 4 patch made with two little 4 patches and two blocks of the water fabric.
it is a one off, I get to play since it's small. Their prompt is horse, and I'm inspired by a horse who lives in the next neighborhood over... wait til Sat to see that one

I'm loving the Monet feel of this one!
It's good to remember that there are times to blend as well as times to contrast! I really like your watery double 4-patch blocks.
I totally understand how quickly these prompts seem to come -- one more tomorrow! But then we'll all have a quilt top, and can go from there. I think the idea of the water lily is a lovely one, and take some more time to get it where you want it to go. Beautiful colors!
