The prompt for Project quilting this week, and we had one week to make something from is
Horses
I take a lot of photos on my daily walks, and visit this small ranch often... I took this photo
so I printed it onto fabric, adding in prismacolor pencil here and there on the printed fabric and startedI had a brilliant sky fabric scrap to go with the rocks, horses, SW design fabrics and began designingI knew I wanted a tote bag. I sewed the outsides of the tote (then 15 X 16" approx), layered it with lining and batting and began quilting it like any quilt
decided on a top binding to put on after I folded it RST and sewed the sides. First I made quick handlesplaced and sewed into place| used a gorgeous batik SW print for lining |
fold them out of the way and add some rock fabric along the top to finish the edge
it's ready to use and I L O V E how it came out! I get to see my photo more often, it's useful and is made of specially hoarded fabrics years old so I get to see them too
I love horses...
| another of my photos, taking in the neighborhood walk |
a sweet horse video... enjoy

fabrics from my stash, I'll need to use soon they are so pretty
| these turquoise nuggets might make a fine tassel or embellishment among the rock fabrics later |

OMGosh! This is a stunning bag. The prompt of horses is different but very enticing.
So clever!
What a gorgeous tote. I love everything about it. It's freezing here, like 2 degrees right now at 1 PM. I'm sick of winter already and we have at least 2 or 3 more months of it.

Awesome tote bag, LeeAnna. Printing photos on fabric to use on everyday things is a great way to enjoy them often. Great idea.
That pinto in your hood is a true inspiration ! i like that bucket tote and the combine fabric used! . I also have a bunch of horse themed fabrics in a box. One is black horses galloping across the white background. i have used my printing inks, watered down, to make rainbows and any color i liked! That is a great project with wonderful results!
Love your tote!
Very fitting that horses are the theme because 2026 is the Year of the Horse. Well done on the tote.
What a great idea making a tote using the photo fabric! I love it! Thanks for sharing your process!

Your tote bag is fabulous, LeeAnna! I love how you included your own photo on it. Beautiful fabrics, too! That was a great way to meet the challenge.
Such a pretty tote! I love how you incorporated your photo. Those other fabrics you've been saving definitely need to be used up! They are so pretty. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

What a fabulous project. Nice job. I like that you have used some special items that have been hiding out somewhere and will now bring you joy each time you just see it and USE it. I'll bet you will get many compliments on it and questions about it. Thanks for sharing in Sew & Tell.
That's a beautiful bag. I don't have a horse, but have fond memories of going to my grandmother's ranch as a child, and riding on them. Blessings!
