creativity a bit of sewing, a bit of paint

Even when going through grief, one wants to make art. I am slowly working on my Moravian star in fabric

the little star units are lying on my portable design surface. (cardboard / batting/ felt ) with a sand paper bottom. This tutorial said to make 12 star units of 5 petals. See the little diamonds on the bottom right.
moving anticlockwise up here are the 5 sewn together.
moving anticlockwise to the left top the five are sewn into a cupped star shape
and the bottom left is two sewn together (wrong sides tog) with a third to be sewn in

I'm not sure of the tutorial, it doesn't show where they are all joined into a big shape so I'm stuck

I painted a wee house, and that's about it this week.

4X 6" or so, a mix of pencil watercolor-pencils (prismacolor) and water color paint with ink on top

Maybe I'll feel like making more next week in between doctor's appts. Not sleeping well at all.
hope all reading this are finding more creative time than I did, but we know it comes and goes even when the artist shows up in studio to do the work.

Your little diamonds are really small! I hope you will find a way to close the big star. I love your cute little house too. Thank you for sharing your art of the week, and I'm sending you hugs.

That's a delightful wee house! I know art can help soothe the soul and ease grief, so I hope it brings you some healing.

Those star units are really small. Hope you'll find a way to join them. Is there a name on the pattern/tutorial, whom you can contact? Your little house is adorable!

I love the colors you are using for the Moravian Star. I see that I missed a Facetime with you on Saturday. We were at the swim meet both Saturday and Sunday. Maybe we can connect this week. If you're still stuck on connecting those units I might be able to help.

It appears that your star is going to be a box. Love your wee house painting!

What an interesting sewing project and such a sweet whimsical painting! Best of luck figuring out how to proceed with that star.

The stars are so cool. I can't wait to see them all put together. My house has been temporarily under construction while I have been having my kitchen cabinets painted so I haven't been able to do much crafting lately. Your painting turned out great too! Thanks for sharing!!!

I'm sure the star will turn out. Here's what I'm seeing in my head. Imagine each 5 pointed star unit is a pentagon. Then google up a picture of a dodecahedron. I believe that is how they will go together. Rather than flat pentagon shapes, you have the 5 pointed star units giving more dimension. The 3 together looks right. If this were me, I would add the cupped star shapes one at a time to the big unit, rather than make 4 sets of 3. I'm not sure sets of 3 like that would come together right.

I'm very sorry for the loss of beautiful Milo. Your little projects are wonderful. Keep going, one step at a time.

Your star project is looking great! Hope you've figured out how to finish it up. Even just a little art each day could be a baby step in the right direction toward healing your heart.
