Ah nature is grand isn't it?? The latest tulips my husband brought home to me are brilliant shades of purples and blues with accents of an orangey-gold.
Ahhhhhh
They are magnificent aren't they?? Especially when you see them from different angles. This is how they look on the mantel
Graceful. Colorful. Pretty. But they are dynamic when seen from the first angle, right? (so much to learn from life, isn't there? )
When Angela at Rainbow Scrap Challenge
chose multi color scraps for the month, I noted even multi scraps become one color in my bins so I went to my stash to see what I could use for my petals this month
I chose 8 and cut petal size pieces to use...
Pretty!
So glad to be using them.
yep, that'll work. Baste through the paper, leave the tips to fold back and forth.
I just love this fabric. I've used it a couple times but really it lives in the petting stash.
Play around with the pretty little shapes...
I've been hard at work on a purple piece. Another abstract color story... it's so exciting I can hardly leave the studio. But I wanted to play along with so scrappy... be sure to see what the other people are making.
I'll be linking to other parties on my links page, as well as these...

Very pretty! Your petals look great! Have a great day!
Beautiful flower and gorgeous multicolor scraps!
Cute flower! I love those multicolor daisies especially.
Love, love, LOVE your exotic Rainbow Flower!!! Such a beautiful specimen.
You have some fun multicolored fabric! But who's surprised?! Your beautiful tulips look as though they're taking a bow after a grand performance!
love those wild colors together
That block looks like it has a 70's vibe to it. Cool.
Lovely fabrics! And the flower is groovy, hehe. Ain't color grand??
This is the prettiest flower yet. I love tulips too and those are a spectacular color. I had tulips growing under my south kitchen window at our previous house and they were mostly red and yellow. I'm not sure I've ever seen this color of purple before.
I like that. A lot of work is involved in making those. Good for you!
Tulips!
Its fun to see them grow and move around in the vase!
Great rainbow scrap challenge!
I love your photo of the inside of your puple tulip! So pretty, and always good to look at something like that from a different perspective! I also love the multi-colored flower petals you're making! All that color just makes us happy!
What a treat to see how beautifully your multicolored fabrics blend together. Sometimes we are too timid and pull bunches of solids from one multicolor. This is so much better.
Love your purple tulips with the blue and white centers.
I LOVE those petals, both the ones you made and the ones that your wonderful husband brought home!!!
Your flower petals are so pretty. I love those fabrics.
FUN mix of multi colors -- and I like that phrase "the petting stash" (giggle)
I love the flower petals! and wow do those colors really blend well !
The first tulip is perfection, maybe like a color poem but without words. Your petals are joyful and playful. Thanks for letting us share them.
Pretty petals dancing about.
Oh, petals from heaven! ain't nature grand!! my neighbor graduated in 1959 and as i was a freshman and i did ironing for her mom and they let us use the back of their property adjoining ours to house my horse back in those day we were close, i idolized her. when i asked her to sign my yearbook Patsy always wrote "Ain'T nature grand!" it was also her quote under her photo, in a angora sweater. whenever i hear that arrangement of words, i think of Patsy Taylor. thankful for triggering memories from long ago and far away. that's what words do to me! thank you LA!
happy earth day is everyday at this time and stage for me!!!
Great looking colours. It will be a very fancy flower.
Can't beat a tulip! I love them even as they are dying in the vase.
You have fabulous fabrics!
What an amazing flower from your multi-color petals!
I love a good funky, 70's, peace, love and rock- N- roll blast from the past!! This is so fun!
I love your choices, especially the little floral print. It's great!
Beautiful flowers!
Beautiful brights contrast nicely against the black.
So fun... gorgeous fabrics!
Your petals almost look like a school of fish swimming into a beautiful pattern. 💖
Awesome flower. I have lots of multicolor fabric but have had no time this month to play with them. Just came home from quilt retreat and need to catch up with so many things.
Pat
Oooh! The colorful petals really stand out on the black background. I've had a petal quilt in mind since I bought Corey Yoder's book (on clearance, of course).
This is an excellent way of using those multicoloured fabrics. Glad that they do sometimes get to be moved from the petting pile into the using pile :o)
Lovely, I really like the vibrancy of it!
Love those petals! A great way to use the multi-colored fabric. Thanks again for sharing these pretties on Midweek Makers
Wow! I never would have thought to put those fabrics together. Your blog name says it all - Not afraid of color. Love the flower!
You are certainly "Not Afraid of Color"! I love your choices - and am learning so much from you! My own work is becoming more colorful and light! Thank you so much for sharing!
