Can you hear the music? Colorful guitars

pattern source is paperpanache.
The color of the month at RSC 2016  is orange. I had an opening for a new block since I finished with the old strata blocks ( HERE ) and found this paper piecing block at paper panache.
I thought it would be fun to make my guitar playing husband a little wall quilt for inspiration!

The blocks are 4" X 10" so the pieces are tiny. The sections are numerous. It all is a challenge because the designer did not offer it in sections, once again, I had to CAREFULLY cut apart the line drawing into sections, and copy them again.
See how the color swirls on the little scrap of orange? Looks good on the guitar.

when I told Drew what I had planned, and that orange was the first color I'd make, he screwed up his face a bit.

Orange? Really?

This from the man who plays a blue guitar, and covets a hand made green one!!

I love how the floral fabric looks on the neck of the blue one.
I chose sparkly blue for the body of it but since it's mottled the colors fell in awkward places when sewing it. Blue was Jan. color

Still cute.

The pattern designer said to add thread for strings. The neck is a quarter inch... so there's no way to add 6 rows of white stitching on that!

I love the swirly purple scrap I used for the purple (March) guitar.

It does look different when pieced into the tiny guitar however.
The neck was from the tulips scrap turned sideways.

Love how that came out!

Look up in the left corner... see the white thing? It's a scrap given me by an embroidery loving friend, who apparently did not like how the dove came out, so I fussy cut it into the background.

Detail loving husband saw it immediately! Isn't there a dove song?

can you see it in this picture? White on white, it shimmers in person.

So I have caught up with the guitars in color except for the brown (Feb) one.

Who hasn't already seen a brown guitar anyway? lol

I think I am going to piece it today, before I forget the piecing idiosyncrasies for this block.

After enlarging the pics on my iPad, I'm amazed at the way you made these tiny gems. I love the purple one the most. You have one lucky husband.

Your guitars are so charming. This must be the most perfect quilt for a guitar playing husband. Hm, I make pigs, but it's my neighbour who is a vet.

What a coincidence! I just spent many minutes on the SOS Scrappy blog where I saw and admired your pretty guitars. They are pretty realistic. The orange swirls are indeed very pretty on the guitare, like precious wood. And the dove is a beautiful addition. I don't see how you can add six strings without oblitaring the beautiful fabrics you chose for the necks!
Thank you for sharing your guitares at my Fabric, Thread and Yarn link party. It was a pleasant and surprising coincidence.

Oh, those guitars are absolutely fabulous! What a perfect idea for Drew! Nit-picky little pieces for the blocks, but I know you're both going to be so pleased with it in the end. (Cole might not share the enthusiasm, unless you work some poodles into the border...)

Wow! What a gorgeous idea to make for Drew!
The guitar details look amazing! Like the dove!
Quite right to keep at it while in the routine, rhythm of things.

Uh oh. I love those guitars almost as much as I hate paper piecing. My hubby plays guitar too, and I have promised him a guitar quilt in 2017. BUt it will be appliquéd! Great work!!!!

You find the BEST paper pieced patterns. Loved the cows, and the flamingos, and now these guitars! Just too cute! They'll make a wonderful wall hanging.

Those are tiny! Amazing work! I wish I liked paper piecing, it seems like it could be addicting though, if I ever figured it out.

Wow, those are some very small pieces, but the block is so fun!

I've followed Paper Panache for years. Have bought a couple of her patterns when I thought I liked paper piecing. But have made very few of them to tell the truth. Guitars are great. Love the details you've incorporated in your fabric choices.

This is crazy! I love these little guitars..the purple one has my heart! Great job!!

Is there nothing you can't piece? And so tiny. I love how the fabrics change character when you use them for this sort of work.

Ahh, paper piecing. The pickier the better. Your color and fabric sense for these is spot on. This is exactly why paper piecers just can't get rid those tiny scraps!

I know... right?? I have to make myself throw away really small bits.

Good golly, that's a small PP project! But they look great, you are doing a fantastic job with them. And yes, I see the dove! So clever to place that there. Thanks for linking to MCM.
