But you only asked me twice!! Monday Mischief

Seems like every day when it's time for a walk, I say something like,
"Hey Cole,  you want to go for a walk?" Most times I have to ask many times before he agrees.

He tips his head, thinking it over.   Waiting for a an engraved invitation possibly. Sometimes like today he doesn't even move, just watches me. Inscrutable.
He often just sits watching me pull on my shoes, getting my hat, finding my keys, all the while, basically begging him to come with me. There are times I walk over and put on his collar while he's still on his perch.

This day I wanted to get moving so I asked, repeated myself once then said, okay I'll be back in a minute.

And left.

I had a very relaxing walk, didn't stop once to sniff or pee or argue with a squirrel.
When I got back Cole was not only off his perch but pretty ticked off.
I can only imagine what he was thinking....

Cole: " Okay,  wait for the third or fourth invitation, just to let her beg me as she should since I am the life of this party... (slam)

Hey.... wait just a poodle pickin' minute!!!
She left.
She left me!

She's walking without me! Everyone knows she has no sense of direction and left without a leash! OMG!
(Stew, stew, stew)  Feels like she's been gone for hours. She must be lost.
What's that?: Momma coming back finally? Well she can just take me on my walk now.
That's right, I'm right here at the door, waiting... if I could have put on my own leash I would have, now lets go for the REAL walk, Come on momma! Come!
And none of that stupid walk around-the-corner-and-back stuff... oh no....a for reals walk!. I am going to smell it all and pee on it twice.  Now lets go!    ( she is so unpredictable)

She only asked twice!!!

  1. Hi Cole....thatt how it goes,....measure twice cut once!
Hi LeeAnna! Hope you enjoyed your walk!
    Take care,

  2. Ha, ha. It'll be interesting to see what he does next time! A case of "once bitten, twice shy!" maybe.

  3. BOL this was GREAT! Maybe Cole will uh hum, listen next time! Shasta doesn't hesitate for the walks, however potty time is quite different and has to be thought about. Unfortunately we can't really give him a choice with this one, especially at bedtime! :-)

  4. Sometimes we have that issue with the car. When I'm tired and not sure about going, Mom starts off without me. She does come back and I'm all set to go waiting at the door.

  5. Uh oh! Mom would tell us, "snooze ya lose"! Oops!

  6. Funny posting! Poor Cole--he reminds me of our Jou-Jou--the poodle I grew up with. (Sorely missed even after all these years!) she would prance around and lead you on a merry chase before letting you leash her up!!
So you got 2 walks in--hoping our weather stays good until this afternoon for a walk, too....hugs Julierose

  7. I did the same thing this weekend without my lab...but...I didn't ask...I wanted a pee-free, stop free walk~so I made sure I took him (and my rat-dog grand puppy) for two smaller walks...sigh...they so rule us~

  8. Lol that's funny Cole! Maybe he's just playing with you.

  9. Hi Y'all!

BOL!!! I do it differently. I ask the Human! I don't wait for her to ask me!

    Y'all come on by,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

  10. Humans take soooo loooong to get ready to do anything.

  11. Geeeze Cole.. She only asked you twice? So horrible, how mean of the mommy!

  12. Chloe does the same thing! Every once in a while we actually leave her and she is pretty ticked off! The Bad Basset Boyz are always uber ready to go!

  13. Oh, that Cole is such a rascal. But he certainly didn't think you'd call his bluff!

  14. LOL, that's so funny. I would have loved to see the look on his face when you walked out the door without him!

  15. Lol! I bet next time he'll beat you to the door!

  16. BOL!! If I even just look at one of the leashes, both my dogs come bounding over ready for a walk at any moment. I can't imagine them being complacent about walkies!
    Love & Biscuits,
Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them

  17. BOL! good one. i bet he learned his lesson.
    wags, bailey unleashed

  18. That's made me smile! Our Jack Russel seems to be at the door before I even have thought of a walk but our Basset total opposite!

  19. I could ask 100 times and my kitties would still be on the couch. It's their favorite hangout.

  20. "Poodle-pickin' minute" is an amazing phrase. I love it.

  21. PepiSmartDog: Hi Cole, goodness me - what is a dog's life coming to? Humans can be fickle sometimes - leaving home without a leash is not good. Sure she regrets it though. She probably got lost right away, Hee Hee.
