I've focused my creative time this week on finishing one quilt, and on photography.
the changing seasons are exciting especially coming into the possibility of cooler temps.
the color of the month at rainbow scrap challenge is pale green and pale blue.... so on walks I look for those colors....
An artist paints what she sees but what she sees is primarily what she looks for
nature paints the world with all the shades and light to dark providing contrastI admit I'm drawn to saturated colors so focusing on pale ones is more difficult.
what kind of tree is this? |
it's difficult for me to go from "aqua" a light blue green, to the RSC chosen colors of
light green and blue... so I expect to veer from them soon,
I was able to keep my machine moving along this week, enough to finish the quilting and binding on this runner. Here it is after the binding went on, was turned to the front to be straight stitched down...
and since this machine couldn't handle true piping layers, I found this cording in my stash
and carefully zig-zagged over it with a lime thread next to the finished binding to look like piping! and voila!fini! |
it was hard to stay to low contrast light to medium shades, without the usual joy color gives me
just a few of the finished blocks along with this month's |
and cut 2.5" squares to hand baste onto the paper forms later this weekack, how long can I last sewing pale fabrics to pale fabrics?
busy as a bee! |

I would find working with light colours difficult too because I far prefer saturated colour and jewel tones.
The narrow piping cord made quite the difference! Love your work.
For someone who thrives on color LeeAnna, I would say you surprised yourself by doing the assignment of pale blues and greens. They add some serenity to the series you are working.
Your fini is beautiful and so vibrant. I love those soft shades, they're calming. I wish I knew what tree that was too. Take Care, J
Pale photos are harder, but yours are quite pretty. Love your RSC blocks - they are all looking so good together - and so glad you shared them.... they led me down a rabbit hole haha
Your runner is gorgeous, and what a great alternative to piping! I love these bright colors, and understand how difficult it can be to work with pale ones. But your pale blocks are lovely, and they add a touch of softness to the other blocks. The next hexie swirl block is going to be pretty too! Thank you for sharing your creative week and linking up!
I love your photos.

Can't wait to see those yummy pale greens in the Hexie Swirl block.
Love your runner and the zig-zag stitch really adds a lot, I think! Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings.
My goodness this was sotting in my open tabs for ages and I so love that aqua and lime so it deserved another praising comment.
I struggle with pale colors as well as brights are my favorite. Love that log cabin runner. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss. https://www.inquiringquilter.com/questions/2025/09/10/wednesday-wait-loss-449
