creativity post..... on their way to a finish but not yet....

welcome to my weekly creativity post... stress is taking a toll but here are a few things sewn this week...

Christmas hexie spiral prepped and ready to sew, Maybe into a little tree skirt
gosh I love these colors and fabrics!

finished sewing these hexies together to make into a mug rug thank you gift for Pat...

As I chose fabrics, I thought of Pat's love of gardening,

the pic is upside down, blue skies go on top, green grass on bottom... if I let reality interfere that is! lol

I had in mind to sew the narrow Christmas scrap strips together, then make a tree skirt by cutting wedges to sew with white between... as I sewed I changed my mind and will turn it into something else I think...

tiny strips made from tiny rectangles go together into a fun section

lots of seams require careful pressing.

Pressing with intent.

mostly small strips are now gone from the Christmas scrap pile, just squares and triangles left and larger scrap pieces. I might even sew some improv geese strips  to put along this strip set... I need some mindless sewing time

enjoy this short video.... lovely sentiment made with needle felting techniques

so creative, so sweet,

I Like Thursday # 483

welcome to this week's list of likes starting with snow covered mountains and a lovely visit with this horse

snow's melted now, we are having sunny days in the mid 70's instead of cold and snow. I HATE this.

Reports say it's now the trend, due to climate change, luckily I met a nice couple on a walk this week and they moved here for cold too, he said they'll be moving out because this is due to climate change and and they like cold too. It was a blessing that they weren't science deniers

short post today , going to treatment for my back

warm enough for flamingos

and elephants

Conversation Starter this week

do you like red and green? does it lift your spirits? what shades do you like best?

I do like Red and Green in most shades... especially the 50's tones

My granny painted a lot of her wood furniture in the 50's green too. I like a bright true red any time of year, my mixer is red and I enjoy wearing red although I don't have a lot in the closet.

creatively speaking this week a bag and two needlebooks with beads

Here are a few things made this week... starting with a walking bag to carry phone, keys, camera etc

I start with the Christmas scrap bag of little pieces, organize them into shape and size ( this is fun for me, sorting like with like is soothing )

then I decide what to make. I took odd shapes to sew together for one side of my bag...

bits I like, such as a labrador in a hat, a stocking (my favorite part of gifts ) an angel

a small hand stamped muslin bit, and colors.
for the reverse side I took a left over image from making an apron from JoAnn's fabric
quilted both sides by themselves, placed RST, sewed around curving the bottom edge, flipped inside out, then needed a strap

A wide striped piece of fabric left from some project. cut at 3", quarter " seam leaving turning room in the center . Turn right side out, stuff with batting, close opening and sew lines of quilting. Attach to bag at sides by machine, DONE!

go for a walk now!

I finished the two needlebooks with a quick zig zag edge, and jute for a bow closure

then a more time consuming hand beading along the edges

but first spill the two bead containers

into the rug

no time to beat myself up for this... a full fourth of them sifted down to the pad quickly... crap!
Merry Christmas!!! lol
live and learn and move on

a  quilt from other years
with beads, put on at a table not in my lap... ahem

I have hexi's to put together in another spiral, this time for the skirt on my pink tree in the window

I'm baking, cooking, walking, reading, seeking a rescue poodle to live with me, and other stuff mentioned on Thursday's I LIke Post... I'll leave you with a pic from a recent sunset walk in our hood

It may be overly warm in Aurora Co. nowadays, but the skies are still pretty

Hope you can visit to see more pics on Thursdays, and join the I Like group if you'd like to share the small things to like in your week with us, let me know to add your link in!
for now a little cool beading/embroidery edge video

i like Thursday # 482 snow, stress, holidays

welcome to this week's list of likes.... I like cold temps and snow, therefore we moved to Colorado... not it's about to be in the 70's in the sun for over a week here.
In December. 5 years ago it was consistently cold and snowy from October on.
We did have a bit of snow...
footprints in the thin layer over the golf course. That became snow lace
and annoying icy snow
and is gone less than a week later now. We MAY have to get out the AC again too.
You know the adhesive stick figures on vans that represent the family? we are seeing lawn ornaments in the form of snow people in people's yards like them

mom, dad, child...

gramma on the post, transparent uncle on the stick, that pig again, who does it fit?
deer families too
don't even want to know who all these represent...
awe, this big boy greets me when I walk by the fence... some days he attacks the fence, sometimes he comes over silently like he's happy to see me.... never know though....
love these deer too...

these light my way home from evening walks
look at those mighty clouds

(c)LAPaylor love the geese formation with clouds at sunset...

selfie anyone?  I LOVE orange cats' personalities!

why am I bawling? I want a dog dog again so much. An adult, non shedding that will love living here with me...

The holidays can be stressful...

What always calms you down when you’re really stressed out and upset?

walking, watching tv, sewing in my studio, but the usual things aren't enough lately are they?

got an answer for me? Please leave it in comments

I'm not sleeping still.... sleep for a couple hours then wake and lay in bed. Try to read, or count sheep but...

 linking with these lovelies....

thank you for being here with me... more next week, lots of fun pics. Sat post is creativity work...

creative pursuits this week fun sewing ahead!!

I haven't actually finished anything but I did pack away Fall scraps and fabrics, and got out the bag of Christmas scraps to hopefully make a few tree skirts this year...

I emptied out the bag and sorted the pieces into shapes and sort of sizes

I collected some google images into a page of tree skirt ideas (see on the bottom right) but will mainly go on what scraps I have probably. Already starting with matching squares into 4-patches there

some strips, some wide, some narrow and long

two needle books to be finished off
squares, and a stack of HST shapes to turn into geese

two littles put out for the season...
Betty boop as a snow globe, and Santa after the holidays with sunburnt knees, in the tropics drinking a mai tai
a worthy sentiment to balance all the gooey sweetness of the season
