Our conversation starter this week
do you like shopping at garage sales? Flea markets? what is a really good one? Do you shop at thrift stores?
Oh yes, I like looking at stuff! I especially love an estate sale in the house... so I can see the house too.
I remember a yard sale in CT in a historic area. We were out walking around, so I stopped and found the sweetest pink serving dish to buy.
I went to a crafter's sale, and Lordy she had everything one could ever want. I did love going through stuff and buying what I might like to use. That was in DC. I went to another crafter's sale here in Colorado and the whole house had her supplies in it. Yep, virtually a whole house craft room. Aaaaah
we have never made any money on our own yard sales, I feel like telling people, we JUST brought it out of our own house.... One person showed up asking what we would give her for free, at the start of the day. Wow. Our neighbor down the street, also doing a sale told me a woman bought a beloved doll she dithered over putting out, and on the way back to the car, tossed it to her dog that immediately began tearing it up. My neighbor was sad...
When we were doing a big purge before moving to Colorado, my friend and bee mate said sagely,
"first you get rid of the junk, and after a while it all looks like junk"
my fave flea market was in New Orleans French Quarter on Sundays

now please visit these folk to see what they liked this week, and how would you answer the prompt?

I think we used to call those helicopter trees. If you pull off those little winged seed pods and toss them into the air, they twirl down like a helicopter.
Have helped a friend clear a flat with a garage sale but clearing our own stuff we take it to carefully selected charity shops or if in doubt of its recyclability drop it at the Reuse Shop at the refuse station. Never want to be the perdon who sold that doll.
I enjoyed all the photos from your walk! I think that tree must be some kind of maple because those look like maple keys on it. I have found some great stuff at garage sales, estate sales, and thrift stores over the years! But had to paw through a ton of crap to find those treasures, though *LOL*
Fun to be out walking with you. I, too, think it must be some kind of maple..due to those funny seed pods we made airplanes with. I like to go to antique stores more than yard sales, but do go on the island sometimes, especially when one of the big houses is turning over.
That is one tall lily! We see so many bunnies in our yard and all around the neighborhood. There have recently been a bunch of tiny little ones, too - we saw several in one yard on our walk last night. I used Google Lens to search for what those flowers are and it said "Sweet Pea." They're pretty!
Those cookies do sound yummy! I haven't held a garage sale in decades, but I do take things to put on my daughter's sale every August. I used to shop at garage sales when my kids were young. Kids' clothes and toys were good things to find at them. But now I don't enjoy them at all.
I like the view on your walk. It's been hot here too, 'tis the season. I LOVE a good thrift. I buy stuff every now and then. Thank you for linking up.
That was a nice walk, thanks for taking us along. Yardsales are such a pain and the people that show up here are mostly obnoxious so we stopped doing them. I would like some cookies please. Thanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
We love walking along with you and what an odd spot for a recliner! The fudge oatmeal cookies look delicious!
I enjoyed your walk. So much different from my area where there are no sidewalks.
I haven't been to a garage sale in ages. The last one I went to was so overpriced, and they weren't lowering the price for anyone. Thankfully I didn't ask, but one lady did and she nearly had her head bit off. And I had one with two other neighbors once and it was a disaster.
That chair just looks as though it's an invitation to come and sit a spell. We used to be huge yard sale goers but since we moved to the apartment we don't need anything so don't go anymore. I organized a yearly community yard sale for a long time. Now we limit ourselves to thrift stores and that's because we hate paying full price for clothing (beyond things like undies and shoes that I refuse to buy secondhand...yew).
Funnily, someone had a garage sale near us last week but it was mostly children's stuff so not really my thing, probably just as well as I could do with selling stuff not buying. If I can get an offer normally I'm in for it. Have a good weekend. Hugs Angela xxx
What a nice walk today! I believe the wild flowers might be Willowherb....but I'm not sure.
Thanks for joining us for Nature Friday today!
I enjoyed your walk. Such a lovely way of appreciating your neighbourhood. I have no idea what the tree is but think the wildflower may be a type of campion/silene. Here in Scotland we don't have garage sales but we do have antique shops, car boot sales and a great many charity shops. My granddaughter and I enjoy looking for bargains in the charity shops. Have a great weekend, Elizabeth
Yard sales, tag sales, garage sales, estate sales, flea markets...Love them all!
Fun stuff in your neighborhood! Cloud pic was really cool.
Your walk is appealing! That donkey is adorable!
