Okay, so here's the story...
Recently I showed you the mesh bags I wash scraps in when I get them from friends. I don't have to wash mine again as I know I wash all fabric before putting it away.
(Chemicals, shrinkage, bleeding all valid reasons to do that. Easy to do y'all and then you don't inhale chemicals when you press seams)
In the bag of scraps were these tiny little marked triangles and the finished bit of them pieced together in a line. This would make a straight line of red and green triangles hand stitched. I looked at this bag of carefully marked tiny pieces and almost threw it away.
Then I thought about the maker. She passed away leaving this project... okay, that unfortunately happens and I have so many personal projects to make. Still, I couldn't quite just throw them away so I pulled them out this Sunday, and quickly hand stitched them not into a line, but into a circle...
Just to test an idea. I like it actually. A little Christmas candy, with a little Christmas button in the center. I don't know how to finish those outside edges, or if I'll continue but even making three or five for a table runner will honor the woman who so carefully marked a sewing line... for me.

From the photo it looks like it could be turned into a Christmas pincushion. We know how you love pincushions!
Oh how cute and a nice memory piece--you could applique it to a background for a table topper??? or put rick-rack around the edges...hugs, Julierose
You are very sentimental. What a great way to honor that late quilter!
So sweet. You do just the rigt thing, and you'll soon find out how to continue. Good luck.
I see an adorable pincushion top. What a great save that would be!
Nice way to honor the former owner, I like the look of the piece it could be so many things I'm thinking an ornament for your tree so you can have the memory.
we must be twins.......Like seriously. I can't throw stuff away either, i am emotionlly tied to every piece.
Great idea for saving those triangles.
Follow your heart : ) Sweet post :)
I really like the idea of honoring who cut those pieces by making a beautiful project. Looking at it, it says "pincushion" to me... just my thought! Thanks for sharing!!
Cutness overload! You never know what's in a scrap bag, but this was worth pulling out and seeing where it leads!
Oh love it! Great idea!
What a lovely remembrance❣️
This is lovely. If there is enough fabric you could make a couple more and appliqué them onto a table runner. On the other hand, you are so imaginative you are bound to surprise us all! I look forward to seeing what these triangles become.
Lovely way to make something from those triangles! I enjoyed reading this!
It will make a lovely ornament but I'm sure you'll make something even more unique. I look forward to seeing your creative solution.
It looks great and a wonderful project even though you have several in the works. Maybe a candle mat.
Great idea for the little pieces! Maybe stitch some bias tape on the edges? Thanks again for linking up to Midweek Makers!
A very fun little project!
This is an adorable little project!! I should get my machine from under the dust! Love x
