I Like Thursday # 478 Fall Decorations, fun videos, pretty colors

the calendar says Autumn the temperatures are summery 80's in Aurora! At least the trees are very pretty!

I think I'm sick, seeing double, and headachy because the neighborhood is replacing all gas tubes here. For 7 weeks now. But I just took yet another ibuprofen so on with this week's show

Let's start with two funnies

I had to pull all the teeeeeny tomatoes off the bush because of one overnight cold temp... so I tried to make fried green tomatoes like I grew up with. Slice, then salt, coat in flour saute in oil til crispy
they may look funny but they tasted SUPERB!

we had two large Bartlett pears, so I made pear tart a good fall dish... and was it ever tasty!!!
made a half recipe and it's one I make often.

then since it was cooler that day I went on to make pumpkin bars, sooooooooo good
pretty quick to make and the crust is like a thick cookie.... makes a big pan too

we like to make up a bowl of whipped cream to go with.... one cup cold cream, 4 Tbsp powder sugar, 1 tsp almond extract, whip in a mixer til firm. Lasts several days in the fridge too.
pumpkin on the hoof (in a neighbor's yard)

I hung up one of my Fall quilts and am busy sewing on this year's Fall piece from scraps
I had a scrap bag of pieces left from my other Fall quilts, and after sorting through it, found a lot of little squares, more on this one on Saturday if God sees fit to heal me from the toxins around us

Conversation Starter this week:  Do you decorate for fall/ Thanksgiving?

I love this basket to hold plants, that lovely plant was gifted to me from a friend in Maryland, it came here, pretended to die off but came back like Lazarus. I have that silk garland which fit around it, and 4 small candles that look like pine cones, I won't burn!

mantel

the purse I shared last Saturday, made with fall scraps
from the scrappy squares bag! I am loving it

I have a boiled wool sweater with pumpkins around the yoke... old as the hills, but I wear it still

here's looking at you kid (eyes on a aspen)
I have orange lights on the stair rails, on timers to go off after I'm upstairs.

had to purchase the 3rd book in my series, library has 10 of them but not that one.... oy, so I am finishing one of the Jana DaLeon Fortune books from the library

most heartwarming short video, spirit touches spirit horse and dog

I had to laugh at the funny about the Thanksgiving foods touching each other on your plate. My dad used to say that it all goes in the same place so what's the problem?!☺ Love the Aspen bark and all of your beautiful and creative work! I never decorate for Thanksgiving because my home is decorated for Christmas for Thanksgiving.

The comic about foods touching made me laugh. School lunch trays are perfect for those kids or adults who want to keep foods in their own space. I went to a potluck Veteran's luncheon yesterday with others from my QOV group - and one of the ladies obviously has this problem, judging by her paper plate. Luckily I don't have that problem so I was able to sample more items than she did. LOL

Fall demands pumpkin flavour, doesn't it? I'm making pumpkin hermit cookies tomorrow. I've never made a pear crisp but now you've made me want to make one of those too!

I never have a problem with the food touching, but my husband, daughter and grandson I've noticed eat their food one at a time even putting it on plate separately. They apparently don't realize that all the taste mix tastes good. hahaha

I always enjoy seeing what you've been baking - both the pear crisp and the pumpkin pie bars sound delicious! Your house looks so festive for November. Fairy lights are always pretty. And I love your scrappy purse - so fun!

One of my step-daughters was a foods can't touch people. And she would only eat one food at a time, so 95% of her meal was always cold by the time she finished. Oh, and the only vegetable she would eat was Lima beans. Fortunately, she outgrew most of that. Love the raven cupcakes. I hope you feel better soon.

I am sending that "food touching" comic to my brother - he was always so annoying about that! Love the ravens on the cupcakes...are they chocolate as that would be the best!

LOVE friend green tomatoes, though I've never made them and no longer have a veggie garden. Yours look good and sound yummy. Got a kick out of Thanksgiving memes. Our gang keeps growing, will be about 25 of us this year I think. Too many to not make it loud and full of chaos. Beautiful fall tree. Hope they finish up the work so you can feel better.

I'm enjoying visiting everyone on my blog list, as it's been way too long since I've blogged and I'm catching up.

I am sorry to say I haven't tried fried green tomatoes and every year I forget about them. Maybe next year will be the year.
Those cupcakes look amazing but I wonder if they're AI-generated. They almost look too good to be true.
About the question of the week - I really don't decorate for anything other than Christmas. I do pull out the throws we use to cozy under when we have a cold east wind but that's about it.
