I Like Thursday # 471

Well, here it is time for another list of likes.... starting with my Halloween mug for coffee. I like strong coffee with milk in the mornings, how about you?

I liked seeing my favorite donkeys and horse again thisb week

Hello Beautiful!
all three responded to my cooing and baby talk, and raced to the fence

What?!! no carrots again? (your pawrents said no, honey)
we had a long visit then continued our walk into another neighborhood. It has a sort of town green in the center with these statues, I LOVE
it has a gazebo, playground, picnic tables, and more. Nice!

this is some unusual horse chestnut tree with inedible nuts that look like lychee's
some trees are glowing in golden colors

here is another Halloween yard ornament seen along the walk

one perfect leaf, outstanding in it's field! sometimes just  one of something stands out as more beautiful
A yard full of leaves wouldn't showcase this the way I got to see it... is there a lesson for us there? Be brave enough to stand out?
I saw this on youtube...
true that for me. I'd like to feel safe again.

fine dining

I made bean quesadilla's for lunch this week, tortilla, refried beans, green onions, tomatoes, cheese heated in butter on the stove, topped with salsa and sour cream
also in fine dining
the base layer cake waiting for icing and whipped cream

Conversation starter this week: do you have a good gingerbread type recipe to share? or what is your favorite gingerbread style food to eat?

first of all, we   tried this gingerbread cake recipe this week

https://tastesbetterfromscratch.com/gingerbread-cake/

I use fresh ginger (grated) and as always used just egg whites (I'm allergic to the yolks) but stayed to the recipe otherwise

with vanilla sauce plus whipped cream

my favorite gingerbread was found in Historic Williamsburg. We used to go fairly often when we lived on the East coast. Our first stop was the bakery where they made fresh gingerbread cookie/cakes. We'd buy a dozen for the long weekend, sit on the cobblestone patio bench, the three of us, DH, Cole the poodle, and I.

We would savor the first cookie of the weekend, warm from the oven, each of us with their own.

It was usually late afternoon by then, time for a tea and cookie, breeze rustling leaves overhead, peaceful, people in period clothes calling to each other, the three of us content and anticipating good times to come. Cole just watched the squirrels coming ever closer for a crumb, people watching Cole.

cole enjoyed shopping too

I miss everything about that time.

Those coneflower statues are quite amazing and such a fun looking spot. I saw some great Halloween yard decor yesterday but I was driving to a friend's house across town and didn't get any photos. I took a different route to her house and saw some fun things including a huge spiderweb across a big part of the front of one house. I like my 1 cup of coffee in the morning hot and plain. I used to make a good ginger/molasses cookie - soft and chewy - but haven't made them in a few years. I do love gingerbread of all kinds.

That is a great mug, and also love the pumpkin plate with your yummy gingerbread on it! Those metal coneflower sculptures are awesome - they bring some whimsy to the park. The cookies at Williamsburg look tasty, too. Happy Thursday - hope that migraine goes away for you.

Those flower statues at the playground are awesome! Plus I like that quote about our aging personalities -- so true!

Love the mug! I drink my coffee black because I once worked at a company with a community spoon. Being a germaphobe, I didn't use the spoon. :) I've never made gingerbread, but I love it. When we lived in Raleigh, we went to Colonial Williamsburg at least twice during the summer. I should have tried the gingerbread. Happy Thursday!

That's a super cool coffee mug! I sure like coffee too. The food all looks so good and those were sweet flashbacks. Thanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

The pinks leap out of this post - flowers and leaf. What a leaf! Enviable cookies and cake. I have no oven so such things exist in dream only these days.

I love those huge flowers! I must have been born old - that's what I've always wanted! (except maybe not that much rest) That quesadilla looks great! Williamsburg is fun! omg, those animals the dogs brought home! LOL. Feel better soon.

The RC doesn't care for gingerbread so sadly I don't have a recipe to share. I love those whimsical pink flowers in the playground.
I'm so sorry about your migraines and hope the atmosphere changes so you feel better. Our #1 daughter-in-love never doesn't have a migraine to varying degrees - an inherited trait from both her mother and grandmother.
