I Like Thursday # 465 Colors, stunning skies, ice cream treats, and more

Welcome to this week's list of likes starting with this pretty bird house in the RSC color of the month

AQUA

I make note of anything in that month's color as I go on walks....

speaking of birds, we came out for a walk, looked to the left at the street light post and I saw a bird on it

Okay, kind of cool like a finial
then before I could get a second pic I thought it disappeared but saw this on my camera after
Wow, love this take off
saw a t-shirt with this on it this week... yep...

uh oh.... no rain in the forecast but we saw this....

then this

the weather here is so mercurial forecasts are seldom correct. We could get 8 drops or storm with hail the size of golf balls. Temps could drop 60 deg in an afternoon, or go up 20 deg in 15 minutes.

it got sunny near the end of our walk, making this grass glow with sunshine at 7 pm

Nothing much to note... no dog for us yet, all the possibles were just taken....
It's horribly hot, dh is still coughing from throat irritation (likely wildfires burning in Colorado), not much on TV

But on video....

Our Prompt this week.... did you grow up going to Dairy Queen and what was your favorite treat to get? Do you still go there?

I was the latecomer to the family both sisters married off by the time I was (5   and 7  ) so we went to the walk up ice cream place often enough. . I always wanted a butterscotch dipped cone with the swirl on top.
Biting that butterscotch fragile coating and the melted swirl in it, was a pure pleasure.

Then as I lived in Tampa Florida, it began to melt immediately and drip and get all over me, the cone becoming a leathery sopping mess in my little hands.

some times I got a dilly bar, a flat ice cream disc coated in milk chocolate.
I haven't been since I was an older teen but have fond memories.
One time (only) I got a banana split.... three swirls of vanilla ice cream with different toppings on top of a split banana in a little flimsy plastic boat. I hated it actually, it all ran together into glop, and I mostly ate the whipped cream and cherry on top.

Later I found out why I was always sick after... allergy to corn (and corn syrup)

I have been sewing this week, and knitting... and those weekly creativity posts are on Saturdays

Wish me luck in finding a slightly older non shedding dog to join our family

Love the birdie taking off from the lamp post and I loved the swirly cones at DQ. We wish you lots of luck finding your next forever friend!

The jam hearts toast! How cute! Yes, I first went to DQ as a child and I still go there. My fave treat is a small chocolate dipped cone.

You'd never have gotten the photo of the bird in flight like that if you'd been trying for that!

Love those dragonflies!

What a cool photo of the bird in flight. A fun surprise! Those dragonflies are so cute. We had a small locally owned drive in ice cream place in the small town where I grew up, but the food was the same as DQ. My folks actually love to go to A&W more than DQ, so that was our out-of-town stop. I loved hot fudge sundaes and root beer floats. Still do, but ice cream doesn't always like me - so I'm careful about when and where I eat it.

Enjoyed seeing the bird take off and love the birdhouse. I left mine in Oklahoma when I moved, so need to get another one. Happy Thursday!

I think you've got Colorado weather figured out - just wait five minutes and it will change! I'm definitely ready for a break from this heat. That is a pretty birdhouse! And love your dragonfly blocks, too - so pretty!

I scream. You scream. Ha ha!!

Just this Spring we traveled up to my childhood hometown in Michigan, rented my old house, and visited the Dairy Queen I had not seen in 42 years.. It's still an ice cream spot, but now locally owned. I told the girls working there that it was the place we stopped at on the last day of school each year. Our bus driver let us all get off the bus, get ice cream, and have paper fights on the way home. Bizarre to think of that now. Where did that super cool bus driver come from? Mrs. Campbell, I remember you. Dairy Queen, I remember you too,

Great shot of that bird taking off (even if only accidentally)! I love DQ but I live in Illinois, aka The Land of Dairy Queen. It originated in this fair state! Lol! Hope you luck out with the search for the dog. The right one will be available at the right time, I'm sure of it!

That was a terrific bird photo and a dilly of a sign at Dairy Queen! Thanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

I like your bird photo! DQ is here in my small town, but I rarely go there. Growing up I loved a chocolate dipped cone. I am sending my best vibes that a dog will come to you soon. Thank you for linking up.

I hope you find your furry family member soon. I'm a firm believer that when it's mean to be, it will be, so I know the perfect one is out there.
As for Dairy Queen I never went there as a child and probably only a couple times as an adult. I can't tolerate soft ice cream so it wasn't a place I really could go. As a kid my parents would buy a 5L 'pail' each of vanilla and butterscotch ripple from the local dairy at the beginning of each summer. The flavours never changed despite me jonesing for something different. Now we usually have ice cream on hand but limit ourselves to only having it on the weekends.

What an ominous sky, but a great bird photo. There wasn't a DQ near me growing up, but there was a Carvel about a mile from my house. I would sometimes get a soft-service twist cone on my walk home from high school. I'm hoping a new poodle will show up soon.

Fun,fun post again, LeeAnna. Good luck in your hunt for a fur baby. We too, are looking. Actually, Mr. Busy is. He asked for a small dog (think Shih Tzu) if he survived his Open Heart surgery. So we are looking. Sorry I didn’t get a post out yesterday. I’ve been in a funk. I’m trying to “snap out of it!” The skies have been dark and threatening lately.
