welcome to this week's list of likes.... starting with another V-day quilt, this one is hanging on our upstairs rail
another one is on my Family room glass table
it is made with valentine fabrics from my collection/stashI love Valentines day, the focus on love the way it should be. Connections not divisions, acceptance not judgement. Here is a lovely song
another song, from Kiss me Kate, I was in the chorus in a production of this play, a singer/dancer and loved this song. It's not an easy one for my alto voice but I find myself singing it often
I love being in my small studio space making things, and I like the things finished! (not everyone likes to finish things for some reason) This week I finished the project quilting prompted piece
my socks are finished
big fluffy flakes that drift down un like the usual sideways snow!! |
Snow
there's not much and it often melts with the first (high desert) sun but we've had several overnight snows this week. It's cold, 1 deg F when we went to bed. I like cold, I like wearing layers and sweaters unlike other people around us in Colorado who wear winter shorts all the time. I have LOVED my cozy leggings by cuddle duds like I'm wrapped up in the softest blankie.
they say soft things are soothing when you're anxious. I think it's true and why babies pet their blankies.
when I was a child we had blankets with satin bindings, and I remember rubbing that satin at night.
Fine dining
I feel rich, we have fresh grapes that are sweet and juicy, fresh cherries, and fresh citrus that also is juicy not dried out!
we tried a gluten free puff pastry (it's what the store had) to make caramelized onion appetizers but it's a fail.
we got a new coffee maker
and so far we like the taste of our coffee just in time for it to skyrocket in price because of our new regime's tariffs. The idea is the water must be really hot to truly make a good cup of coffee. I like it strong with a good amount of milk. It's good to really feel awake again!
we did something we don't usually do, we bought collard greens and cooked them. We only do that at new years usually. We LOVE them with some pepper vinegar so why not all year?
I read somewhere that spinach helps you regrow hair, and I lost a lot with that virus that sapped me.
just because
I've been visiting Karen for years, and she always provides so much cozy beauty in her cottage. This post is full of love, red, hearts, heartwarming pictures... go see

On Speaking French
I'm working my way thru Transparent languages offered through our library.
Je suis perdu ( I am lost) I also get their Italian word a day notices because I really want to speak Italian but we are considering a move to France first.
liked this
our prompt: What is something you have always wanted to try but haven’t yet?
I'd like to return to some crafts like rug hooking with wool strips. I'd like to write a novel and started one but my pain stops concentration. I want to do some screen printing with my kit, and learn bead loom weaving.
I'd like to have a farm with miniature donkeys, miniature goats, miniature cows and a standard poodle.
I'd love to stop my medical phobias but that's just practical not a desire really
Milo's memories
from Feb 2019 Milo was stylish... he knew if he got a kerchief, we would be going somewhere!
please visit these fine folks and let me know to include your link if you wrote an I Like post

hugs to you... learning french is like crossing the ocean in a rubber dinghy... LOL... but we pull through ;O)
Two more beautiful Valentines quilts! Good for you for learning French! I was quite fluent when I was in university (never bilingual though) but it's deteriorated through lack of use over the past 50 years, alas. I was still able to get by, though, the last time we were in Quebec.
Yes! Baby blankets did all have satin bindings. I don't think they do any more? Huh... I wonder why that is!
Another 2 gorgeous Valentine's quilts! Love seeing them. I use collagen for some hair loss and feel likes it is a lot better - it seems to help. I use it as a vitamin although I sometimes toss the powder in things I make.
You have so many pretty quilts. Love those socks! We are finally getting a real winter with snow (or sleet and ice) every 3-5 days. I like the spiffy coffee maker. I would love to be able to brush up on my high school French - but more than that, I'd like to be able to converse in ASL. Someday!
What a nice post! We needed this and of course Milo! Aloha to you both and thanks for the link up!

I also love finishing projects. It is so satisfying!
Love your Valentine quilts! I started a rug hooking piece years ago and it's still sitting in the drawer in the hoop.
It's been so fun seeing your Valentine quilts each week this month! They are really special. That is a fun mug, too! Sweet Milo with his Valentine kerchief - stylin!
Your quilts are so pretty and you are so talented. Hooray for a new coffee maker, nothing beats fresh brewed coffee in the morning! Thanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
The day is always off to a good start with a good cup of coffee and a little peace & quiet -- and maybe some sewing time! Have a wonderful end to your week!
I can't think of anything I want to try but haven't - but there are lots of places I want to go but haven't. Yet. I used to be fairly fluent in French, but have lost the "speaking it" ability for the most part. I can still read it pretty well. My French Canadian grandparents often switched to French when they didn't want us kids to know what they were talking about. My dad said growing up they spoke French at home because his grandmother didn't speak any English and she lived with them. Learning a new language is a challenge.
I’ve always enjoyed new crafts (there aren’t many I haven’t tried)…tatting is one I failed at and ended up throwing the bobbin because I was so frustrated with it. Sometimes I find things I’ve made and struggle to believe I really made them hehe. I love your quilts…you are so talented.
Hugs,
Annie x
Milo was always smart, I miss him too. I've just started a new craft though I have done a little bit in the past but now I've joined a group to encourage me to take it further. It's needle felting mostly making mushrooms and loving it. I love your patchwork quilts too, they are amazing. Well done for giving the languages a go. My friend moved to France and now speaks French like a native. We go over there when we can and have French friends but they only want us to speak English so my French is a bit pathetic I'm afraid. Take care, hugs Angela xXx
Your quilts are so beautiful. You are really talented!
Thank you for 'The Thought of You'. Such a beautiful song and you had me singing along to 'So In Love'. I haven't heard that one in years.
Congratulations on the new coffee maker. Does it grind the beans too? My late husband had one that looked like yours and he put the beans in the top snd eventually he had a pot of hot coffee.
There are many things I have always wanted to do and have now done. I started working through my bucket list when I was 60. For my 60th birthday I had a flying lesson in a glider. I had always wanted to do that. We have always wanted to move to a warmer country so we also did that. My motto is: 'Go for it!'
Well done you for trying to learn French. Just keep going!
Great photo of Milo with his stylish kerchief.
Enjoy your Valentine's weekend,
Lisca
Interesting reading, LeeAnna. Always enjoyable to see what you share. Wonderful things and especially good to have a coffee pot you are pleased with. We have a Nespresso but only Tony loves it. Oh that Milo!
