I Like #228

Welcome to this week's list of likes. Above is a pic of the shirt I wore yesterday.

I like having hope again.

I like having a woman in a top office of the country... finally 100 years after we won the right to vote.

I loved hearing these sentences yesterday:

"disagreement must not lead to dis-union"

"...lead not merely by the example of our power, but by the power of our example. We'll be a strong and trusted partner for peace, progress, and security."

"Democracy and hope, truth and justice, did not die on our watch, but thrived,... America secured liberty at home and stood once again as a beacon to the world. That is what we owe our forebears, one another, and generations to follow."

I like the book on audio I am listening to:

the heroine is swept back through time to save an innocent woman... well written and so interesting to me... very engrossing in audio form. I had to listen during yet another ocular migraine episode this week.

I like this book I'm reading, in the "tea house series" set in Charleston SC

a current day mystery from a fave author

I liked finishing a small painted woman art piece this week, with hand stitched daisies... more on Saturday.

I think I might like this quilt-along on handwork at this blog starting soon https://kristinesser.com/

Soooooo I know when Mama is sad or scared and she has been for days now, but yesterday my pawrents seemed  happy! so that's better! Here's what I find helps when you get worried, get petted.

I am not ashamed to admit I love my back and back legs scratched!

well, who doesn't?
I back up to one of the pawrents, and press up against them til they realize how nice it would be to pet a poodle at that moment!

So for all the worried people out there, remember, somewhere there is a soft critter to pet or watch on videos. It's a scary time for humans right now, so I also say, be peaceful. Disagree if you have to but quietly so you don't disturb us critters.

And get along because life is so much better when you get along with each other. C'mon if dogs can do it, humans can too!

Yep, voting is good, now let's vote on what to have for dinner

And put on a mask! They make you look funny!

now sit! stay! visit these nice humans who have lists to share too!

It is good to feel hope again! You wore the perfect shirt yesterday. I cried so much through that ceremony that my eyes hurt the rest of the day. Phew! We made it!

Wasn't it a lovely message yesterday? And that young poet - amazing!
I found myself feeling hopeful again that at least some efforts will be made to respect people again. Milo probably really could feel your spirits lifting. :-)

Beautiful message for the day. Thank you! I agree and yesterday gave me hope. Long way to go still I know but it really did feel like the dawn of a new year for us! I can only blog once a week nowadays so I haven’t expressed my joy yet...thanks for doing it for me!

I actually cried watching the inauguration. It was so moving. Any you're right - it's about time we had a woman in one of the 2 top posts. It only took nearly 250 years after this nation was founded.

HOPE - I'm with you. & I dont understand people on DAY 1 saying all the negative thoughts on Biden & his term. Like, he hasn't even moved in the white house yet.... geez.

Donkeys are so cute, we love them too and your art is always wonderful. Hey Milo, I like your hat dude. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

Yesterday was definitely joyous, and I loved the poet and her poem, especially the part about democracy being delayed but not defeated!!! And I love the way that Milo backs up to be petted. Blue always curls up with his back end toward me on the sofa- it's so weird, no matter which side he's on, I always get the back side. But it's good for petting too so....

Yesterday was a wonderful relief to the days and months and years of feeling stressed. People acting like calm adults and speaking reasonable and articulate sentences. It won't be easy, but we are on a better path.

We love your painted woman and that baby panda is so precious! I love your hat, Milo, and I also love it when mom scratches at the base of my tail for me. I stomp my feet because it feels so good☺

Always good to see Milo! We are all sighing with relief this week. Loved your joy t-shirt and your painting of the woman is great! Stay well and safe!

The take-aways from this inauguration! It fills my heart :)

I love your hand-stitching.

Peaceful is a good goal. Disagreements don't have to lead to violence.

I cannot get over how many people said, or posted that they felt a giant sigh of relief after the inauguration. Great shirt. While I rarely watch TV I decided to join Disney + and 1st on the agenda was Hamilton...when my goofy daughter is singing songs from it, well I had to see what it was about. I agree with Milo...a good pet helps to calm the nerves.
