I know it's paint party Friday but I've been sewing instead of painting again this week... except for the tiny wooden word here at the bottom.... I'll let my assistant show you how I painted it...
I collect fun embellishments, or did before the pandemic, and had these little wooden words on hand but they were too plain, so... gold metallic paint to the rescue!
another little embellishment, placed just so along the top.
If you remember I made tiny leaf blocks with leftover half square triangles a few weeks ago, and turned them into two quilts for fall.
This one looks art deco to me and is now hanging in the living room. So pretty with golden yellows , and metallic gold fabrics and threads.
It's small but I sure love it, and might like it framed....
I wanted you to notice the rows of pretty gold and amber beads on the sides

I love this black binding with gold threads shot through too! |
I always add beads last, by hand, and it was fast enough to finish during my conversation with Joy!
Back to the other leaf piece, notice the leaf blocks are the same but set differently in each quilt
My assistants were making suggestions for quilting it... I loved the colors they chose! I always like to see the back of a quilt, don't you??
I pieced all the flying geese units to paper, and placed them around my set blocks as a border, but it was challenging to piece them into a border... measuring and math were involved...
you can just see all the seam lines from making them all fit while keeping the border fabric scene going on behind them!!
it's an art piece...and it's like magic how you can place the parts at the right place ...BRAVO!
ReplyDeleteHi LeeAnna, I enjoyed your Thursday post and this one too. You are doing some fine eating...worth getting out of bed for is right. Though I'm glad you got a good sleep. And also stitching. I like seeing the embellishments up close. I agree your pieces are definitely art! Sadly, from the outside, the division appears deep but you must keep hope all will be mended.
ReplyDeleteOh my, these are stunning! I especially like the first one. The embellishments and appliqués are stellar finishing touches. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSquee!!! I love those quilts. Especially the blue one. Beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteThat's amazing and totally gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love this! The addition of blue to a fall quilt is super successful design wise I think. I wouldn't have thought of that and it looks great. And the flying geese and improv piecing make me smile. :)
ReplyDeleteEvery little detail is to die for!! I love the tiny flying geese floating in the borders! Love those amber beads! Love the painted word Thankful! You are so good at these art quilts

You have had a very creative and busy week !
Love all the colours today ! Blue and yellow :)

I cannot resist orange and blue palettes (for real--they're my favorite complementary duo), but I never thought to add blue to an autumnal palette. Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteFabulous quilts and all the details. I especially love the scrappiness of the blue bordered one. What fun!
ReplyDeleteOh how lovely! Fall-flavored yet incorporating Halloween and art inspirations all in one! Bravo! Love the embellishments on both projects. How wonderful to be able to spend your Fall admiring these every day!
ReplyDeleteSo fun to see how your yellow scrap triangles turned into these two beautiful pieces! I especially love how you combined the fall colors with the flying geese in the dark blue sky, the embellishments, and the applique in the corners.
ReplyDeleteYour elephant assistants are so cute and omg...your quilts!!! They are so nice, you've got lots of talent lady! :) You are so right about challenges! :)

ReplyDeleteSo many details in that fun quilt! Love it!
ReplyDeleteomg, how do you do that! That looks so enormously difficult, to piece it all together like that and make it all fit. I LOVE those kittens on the sides, and I also love how you added beads. Beautiful work ♥
ReplyDeleteSpectacular finishes, LeeAnna!! Your attention to detail and your flair for embellishment is enviable. I'm SEW jealous!

ReplyDeleteHow did I get so far behind? Your latest autumn leaves quilt is unbelievable. I SO admire your quilting skills and the back of that quilt is out of this world. Awesome.

ReplyDeleteWow! I love the addition of the pumpkin, cat and frog. What delightful quilts. You are such a talented artist, I always love to visit and see what you have been up to.
ReplyDeleteI am so impressed with your sewing. Each piece is perfect and so beautiful. I love the toys.
ReplyDeleteLovely, I like adding interesting embellishments too. Love your beads and all your additions.
ReplyDeleteLA - love the addition of the kitties, pumpkins and frogs. It gives the quilt a very finished look! In our log house, we don't have many drywall walls, and we are reluctant to put holes in the logs. But recently I have been realizing that I do have some open spots on the drywall, and I am inspired by you to do some wall hangings! Stay well!
ReplyDeleteYour elephant friends sure have good taste! Your thankful quilt is stunning! So many great choices. Love the mini quilt in gold. So beautiful. Thanks for sharing on Wednesday Wait Loss.
ReplyDeleteTwo amazing quilts, and so inspiring! I do like the additional input from those little elephants!
ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful knack for putting colors together for great looking quilts!
