liking on audio books
this is really good... I like the reader a lot, easily understood with good accents, and the story line is intriguing. A young girl meets her mother's boyfriend's mother, and a lifelong friendship is born... then a mystery to figure out the grandmother's early life
On Ebook since the library took The Covenant of Water before I was done, I'm reading more in the Jessica Ellicott series with Edwina and Berle... love the slightly formal writing but hilarious quips... this is the first in the series
I like a lot of books amazon sends notice of, but if possible I order from our library via Libby
Watching on TV
things we've dvr'd. I am down to some summer drivel shows, like Bachelorette (a fab asst of men for her to choose from but I'm already cross with her choices so far) and waiting for big Brother, watching sort of Temptation Island, nearing the end of Anne with an E, in the middle of this season of Murdoch(CBC) and at lunch daily Chateau DIY about expats rennovating castles in France on Peacock
Fine Dining... I learn from Dimitra at Greek cooking, who recommended Harissa sauce so we ordered some, and tried it on steamed green beans... two thumbs up, and one paw up
we drink PUR filtered water, and I like keeping a container in the fridge on hot days with the filter on counter as usual, perking away
Painted a lot last week on this post ( HERE)
This week I'm taking an embroidery workshop with lots of lessons... it's really fun (from Rebecca Page called the embroidery summit) more on Saturday to share
I ordered two pair of new capri pants from Khols for $4 each, and quite love how they feel. I like olive green with navy blue, do you? the other pair of capris is floral
mine came from here |
Prompts for the next few weeks... we're approaching festival/Fairs season... so let's get started!
for this week:
do you like to attend State/County Fairs? tell us what kinds of things
you like to do there?
I LOVE them! I always have! Any kind, any size, any place!
I fondly remember in Maryland going to the Sheep and Wool Festival each year, seeing the animals especially, that year's wool queen crowned, watching sheepdog trials and shopping! I like any fair... I like displays, local competitions, games, rides, foods (see next week)
I grew up going to the Florida State Fair in Tampa and loved everything about it... games, prizes, exhibitions and biggest cucumber, best quilt etc, rides, animals (row after row of every kind of piggie, chicken, bunny etc. The food was looked forward to all year more on that next week
Every place I've lived, I scope out festivals, fairs, etc because you get a royal view of life in that area
I love these two frenchies and their baby sistah... today they make a choice on an outing for all of them

Milo's Moment
Milo here.... just flip this photo on it's side to picture me running! It's too hot to run, when you're wearing a black fur coat! (of naturally curly hair)We've all three been going for walks but I basically scurry from shade to shade then stand around looking busy sniffing... for a little break.
We used to go to a lot of outdoor events, we three but now we stay home to save the mama from disease. I used to love to look at all the people and dogs and art. Yep, I was raised by an artistic mama and I like art!
Please visit these folk to see what they liked this week and let Mama know if you did a like post to include!
friday smiles at a stitch in time
Sunday Smiles
we hear you milo... we are not even in the mood to do weird things... tooo hot... we like the embroidery workshop we bet the pants will look great!!!
ReplyDeleteGood job on your girl with the hair over her one eye. I think I like her better than the one the teacher did!
ReplyDeleteI love your embroidery! My granddaughter wanted to get "into it" a couple years ago, so I gave her a crazy quilt book, scissors, floss, and needles for Christmas but haven't seen any results - lol! Are your Capris knit? I wear knit yoga pants all summer long. I went shopping for shorts the other day and all I could find was very short shorts with tears and holes (why?), so I went back to the yoga pants.
ReplyDeleteI love your June calendar page - such a great thing to remember! There is a wool festival and market in Estes Park at some time during the year - you might enjoy that. I've never gone to it because we generally avoid crowded places (even before Covid!) but it has always sounded like a neat event. Stay cool, Milo!
ReplyDeleteI also signed up for the embroidery summit. I love what you are doing with your jeans!
ReplyDeleteI grew up in Minnesota, and we went to the County Fair every year. But I really loved going to the MN State Fair the best. I do enjoy the SD State Fair but haven't gone in several years now. My husband does NOT enjoy the fairs, but his mom was always eager to go with me. We would spend lots of time in the "women's building" and then eat our way around the food vendor area.
ReplyDelete"Summer drivel" pretty much sums up what is on TV right now. I've been watching a lot of History Channel, Discovery, and Nat Geo lately. And the Food Network is usually on in the background while I'm sewing.
I've always had mixed feelings about fairs- I get stressed by the crowds and the expense and the noise (especially of the midway) but I love love love love love the exhibitions and competitions. I love seeing all the animals, the baby animals, the beautiful animals there for farm competitions, I love all the other competitions, best jam, best flower, best quilt, all of it. I love all the kids art and 4H and science exhibits. I could walk through those barns etc. for hours, but skip the other stuff.
ReplyDeleteI like your art!

Your art is always so pretty and I think the jeans look cool too. Milo, it's been dang hot here too so just rest and chillax all you want! Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteI really like the embroidery. Are they still a pair of jeans, or are you making something else with it? I was never big on state fairs, but I loved the MN Renaissance Festival. The artwork, the shows, the games, and the general goofiness. Good memories!
ReplyDeleteFab painting and Milo I'm with you for not wanting to walk in this heat.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Annie x
Interesting as always to catch up with what you are eating, reading, watching, creating as always. I checked out those capris...what a good deal. They don't ship internationally but that's ok. I have more than enough places to shop online. Milo is so lucky to have such an artistic mama.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry I'm late visiting. What can I say other than I'm sorry,
ReplyDeleteYour Murder audio book sounds interesting.
Your lady is beautiful. I signed up for Tam's classes but not sure why since I don't draw or paint, especially faces. I lke your Effie Wilde interpretation. She is beautiful.
I sometimes go to the state fair, but not our county fair, which isn't even in my city, but another town. I like the displays of food, quilts, art, etc. I am not really a fan of the midway and will NEVER go on one of those rides that are not permanent.
How nice to see Milo resting and pretending to run. Sorry you don't like the sun, Milo. Neither do I!!
Have a super weekend and a great Friday Smiles, dear LeeAnna.
...just be yourself! What a wonderful quote and one that every woman should memorize. Loved going to fairs...but don't see my husband doing it...so not sure if I will ever go again. My grandfather was a state cop and always had duty at the Reading Summer Fair, and so we got to go. Loved the cotton candy and games and fascinating things. In England, we went to a sheep fair, so fascinating. I think I will watch for one. Lovely Milo...always looking so handsome.
ReplyDeleteMilo, you are TOO funny! Neighbor dog Charlie has you beat, though. Instead of pretending to be busy sniffing all the things in the shade, last week he just flat out laid down and refused to get up! The Momma had to bring the car to take him home in those hot temperatures.
ReplyDeletePoor Milo! I know he is so hot. My golden has a thick coat, but not as dense as Milo's, and he gets hot. I used to go to a lot of craft fairs, etc..., but not so much anymore. Thanks for linking up and have a great week.
