see the bit of blue batik pieced in above? |
putting something like this together is very like making a mosaic, or a puzzle, careful stitching, adding more, trimming down, always with awareness that each piece changes the whole. I wanted this to have tones of green, blue, purple... all the tones of those colors, so the finished piece now sparkles somewhat like a glass kaleidoscope! I'm content with how it turned out... just a close up with some blues and a wonderful scrap strip of dots in all the colors!!! How lucky to find that in my little bin!
Can't wait to start overquilting this baby! lol speaking of overworking...
Leaf Study is quilted, by machine, by hand, embroidered and beaded, more when the edge treatment/binding is finished I'll show the whole piece.
Love these smooth easy to thread and love this hand dyed size 5 perle cotton from artfabric |
each leaf was handled a different way, usually combining stitch methods. I do love a french knot
I started two art pieces dear to me but they are still being finished... for now...
Joy told me about this new to me challenge to follow prompts and make an index card art each day. Link is https://daisyyellowart.com/vividlife/icad-2022-1 Here are my first four days...
I'm having fun with it so far, and it's not a bad way to start the day, cuppa coffee with a side of art supplies...
thank you to this little fellow who holds needles as I work
purchased long ago in Annapolis at our quilt show, made by the Hmong people experts with tiny mola stitching
I'll end with one of my little experiments... I haven't used these dot markers for years, but pulled out supplies and experimented one day while out on the back porch...
cool effect, just daubing color over color, additive the way I like to work rather than planned
it was all good til one leaked and squirted purple ink all over the place including our outdoor rug... luckily dh came out of his office just in time to take a hose to dilute the evidence.

That dit fabric for your crocus piece makes me think of Starry Night - it really is perfect for that project! Pretty beads on your leaves, too. Enjoy all the art you're working on!
