Cole does not shed, he collects. When he was a baby he would come in from playing and I'd find long sticks and all kinds of debris hidden in his leg hair.Right now it's one of the worst pollen seasons ever.
This is oak pollen
This is what happens if you look at it....
and settles in the fibers of sofa and carpet.
We're over it.
And poor Cole has been waking us up every night shaking his ears. Flap, flap. We give him prescription antihistamines but have to give a benedryl when he wakes up. Even he's over it.
Ahhh.....We understand, you should see McGee's ears. They collect all kinds of stuff too. Sealed with spit, it is like cement. Mom has to clean his ears every day with peroxide.....HA HA HA HA we laugh at his embarrassment!
ReplyDeleteI really prefer the "collection" to the bushels of fur my non-Poodles shed every place.

Oh my gosh! When we would go to my dad's cabin during the summer when everything was dries up and crispy, my little longish haired dog would go for walks and come back literally coated in stickery burrs! We would spend the evening taking turns brushing them out of her fur...better than stepping on them when they would drop themselves off!
ReplyDeleteThis is a difficult challenge! We cut Seamus' hair a few weeks ago. I'm terribly allergic to tree pollen and this time of year is difficult so I have to be able to get the cling-ons (what we call anything attaching to Seamus) as soon as he gets in. :)
ReplyDeleteoooh I would love to discover all the small things in your fur Cole :o) I have velcro paws... it's amazing what things I collect when I'm back from my walk :o)
ReplyDeleteThe struggle is real, it makes a mess on everything. I'm over it too!
ReplyDeleteSqueals! I'm so with you on this my friend and completely understand. I went out yesterday and rolled around the grass. Mom said I looked yellow when I came in. It was awful! XOXO - Bacon
ReplyDeleteOooh the pollen is bad enough outside--yikes!! This year I've developed a tree allergy--I have a new respect for allergy sufferers...achooing all over. And my son's dog, Kota (pictured on my sidebar) has allergies and was sneezing here on Saturday....I used to be stripping stuff out of my Jou-Jou's coast all the time, too,,,,hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteYikes! My Bichons typically collect grass and twigs the odd time and thankfully don't trek in TOO much.
ReplyDeleteThat was the most hilarious sentence ever - he doesn't shed - he collects! Love it.
ReplyDeleteAck, that is a huge pollen problem! Poor Cole. It's a downside of being such a gloriously fuzzy boy.
ReplyDeleteJean from Welcome to the Menagerie
Pierre brings in oak "worms," pine straw and anything else from outside! I agree with the idea of Velcro fur! LOL!
ReplyDeleteso inventive and fun
ReplyDeletePoor Cole; Sam sends empathetic thoughts. Those soft-coated standards are definitely like velcro strips with legs! Hopefully you'll get some of the moisture that's parked it's bad self over Colorado for the past 5 days to tamp down all the pollen soon.
ReplyDeletePepiSmartDog:being a pollen magnet means you can multi-task! BOL!
