Cole's Commandments...Thou shall not pass (without giving me a treat)

Cole here... with another installment of my commandments.
Thou shall not pass...without giving me people-food!

LeeAnna: He's like the troll under the bridge. The mean border guard. The taxman. He takes up position right in the doorway to the kitchen so we can't get in or out.
This is a new thing. He even comes in the kitchen now. He didn't do that for 10 years, now at nearly 14, he goes wherever he wants, thank you very much.

COLE: The food coming out of here smells, head-and-curly-shoulders better than anything hitting my bowl.
If I don't remind them I live here, and am starving... I'll never get food.

LeeAnna: one of the first words Cole learned was move. When I say move he, well, he moves. To anywhere else. Not now though. He could be losing his hearing or he could be ignoring me.
No amount of nudging, or touching of feet, or yelling, will shift him from this perch. It's annoying. More than once we've hurt ourselves trying to step over him or by him. Oh THAT gets him to move. He'll stand up just as we step over causing us to straddle him suddenly and nearly bash our heads on the wall!

grrrr

Cole: Well, what do they want?? I mean, how's a poodle to know what people ever want, really? They are so inscrutable. While I ponder what those two characters want from me, I'll just lay here and wait til they trip and drop their food, then eat it.... just to keep the joint clean  doncha know.

  1. Oh I am so with you on this my friend. The kitchen holds so many wonderful and tasty treats. My kitchen is cut off by a gate - darn that gate! I too sit at the gate and oink for the price to be paid to pass. Snorts with piggy laughter. XOXO - Bacon

  2. Doodle Dad and the Boys are always fighting about the kitchen - those that come in and those that aren't allowed. Too funny to observe.

  3. Lol! If the taxman was as cute as Cole, I wouldn't mind paying taxes so much. :)

  4. Ruby knows the word move ...though she conveniently forgets when food is involved

  5. We know MOVE! too! sometimes mommma steps on an ear and that keeps us on our toes.

However, we are waaaaay more proactive in seeking out food......Cole, you could learn a few basset tricks from us.

  6. Cole is a perfect gentleman compared to our lab mix Bailey. She parks herself right in the kitchen in a spot where we are bound to trip over her as we cook. It is a magical spot for her, because she cannot hear the "move" command when parked there!

  7. Folks would have been way less afraid of the troll under the bridge if he'd looked like Cole! So hard to resist giving in... I'd be a sucker for that face and pay the toll every time!

  9. Sam here...it's in our poodle DNA, bro. Still can't figure out why they have such a teeny-weenie little room in which to prepare food-what's up with that?

  10. We've got a beagle that won't stay out from underfoot when I'm trying to cook. I spend more time 'shooing' than I do cooking. And more time tripping over beagle than 'shooing'...

  11. PepiSmartDog: so when does Cole get his fluro body suit? BOL! Our BIG Apple does the same thing... there has almost been a few unscheduled judo roles by everyone except Apple. Of course. BOL!
