Reindeer blocks in January?
The free BOM at quiltdoodledesigns is too cute to ignore. Plus it gives me a reason to dig through the brown scraps.
They will be set in a row eventually.
Right now they are just blocks. The other rows have winter fun stuff like mittens, and snowmen. Each month Cindy gives us the free pattern, then they go on her craftsy site for sale.
The background fabric was given me by someone who felt it was not worth keeping. I just love it! There is about a half yard in pieces left for later blocks.
Look at the next guy... looks nervous to me...
Faces take on expressions with a tiny change in button placement.
Speaking of buttons, when I went in search of eyes and noses I found a mess. I mean, what do these things do when I turn off the light, Party?
This is the mess after I removed half of it...
I went to the junk drawer (I'm not just a hoarder of quilting supplies, I also keep weird stuff in a drawer in the kitchen) (ya never know....)
I found a pile of paper covered wire twist ties.
I strung them on the twist ties in groupings. Now I can reach in, and pull out an orderly group.
The loose ones go in a zip loc bag.
One of the best inventions.
That lil guy does look a little bit nervous!
ReplyDeleteVery cute. I love the button faces.
ReplyDeleteLove those guys! That unwanted fabric is perfect for it!
ReplyDeleteShhh.....I have one of those drawers in the kitchen too...well there may be more than one but I won't admit to it.
Hi LeeAnna!
ReplyDeleteA junk drawer is a must have in any kitchen!
Where else would all that stuff go?
Fun reindeer!

the nose looks cute :o) I always fear to look in my button box (i used a big tea box) I always feel lost like the kids in that fairtales .... and not even breadcrumbs can do the trick to find a way through my button-chaos :o)
ReplyDeleteThose reindeer are adorable! Your button placements give them such unique personalities.
ReplyDeleteI've always kept a junk drawer, too. How do people function without one?
We have a few junk drawers and it doens't matter how many times I clear them out they fill up again. You have a lot more brown in your stash than I have and am happy to say these blocks are a brilliant use of it- love the button faces.
ReplyDeleteLove the reindeer. The button placement makes the block. Last week I too had a battle with buttons. looking for some for a crocheted top. How funny. I however was not as noble as you. I found what I wanted and crammed the whole mess back where it was.
ReplyDeletecute reindeer!!! ah... junk drawers....
ReplyDeleteOh that reindeer pattern is so cute, your blocks came out great. I love your wire wrapped button cards, My lose buttons fill a few cookie tins, jars and ziploc bags, and the carded buttons go in shoe boxes. Those button faces give the reindeer character.
ReplyDeleteThe reindeer are so adorable! The buttons are a special touch.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day!

Cute reindeer! When the party is over at your house, they all come over to mine. My button collection fills about 6 antique quart jars and several pints. Pairs are scattered throughout the collection which makes finding matches especially exciting!! Oh, yeah. What else would I do with my time?
ReplyDeleteYour reindeer are adorable!
