Indigo feathers


Hmmmm, the color of the month at so scrappy is indigo.
 First we used blue, then purple, then light blue, now indigo.
I know blue...
A HEAPING full scrap bin of blues
I know purple...
slightly less HEAPING purple scrap bin
I know blue plus purple with painting...
 but culling out indigo from my scraps wasn't easy.
I looked up indigo and it's meanings on the net and saw lots of what looked to be blue colors and this...

Diseases you can Treat with Indigo Color

Disorders related to Brow Chakra are headache, tension, visual defects, migraine, short and long sightedness, sinus, ear problem and glaucoma. Indigo color is used in order to cure these disease.

Indigo color, give peace and intuition to an individual. The color symbolises divine knowledge and high ideas. This color is useful for places where more of ‘peace’ is required. This color is considered perfect for bedrooms and places where, a person is undergoing treatment. The color is useful for teaching or studies, therefore, it is great when used in library or education places.

Okay, I can use some peace. (Digging through scraps...)

I tried to pull out scraps that seemed bluish purple, or purplish blue without being truly one of the other...

I think the exercise might be easier on the bolt but that's not the challenge. The challenge is to make stuff from your scraps.

To use them up...

BWAAAA HA HA HA!

This little fellow seems indigo to me, and that star fabric with blue and purple is a scrap from one of several quilts as I've used that fabric many times.





The fabric with the feathers has a blue and purple background but it looks only purple in this picture. I like the bold pink feather there!!

I think I want to get some clip in hair extensions that color for myself.

Indigo might be a bit confusing, and I feel I've already used all shades and tints of blue and purples, but I'm a team player. I am a challenge lover. I can do this color this month.

If it brings me peace, then yay! If I get Devine knowledge, double yay!



I mean these guys are seeing eye to eye, right?

    Your flamingos make me smile every time I see them. So much fun! Did you design your own pattern?

    I had trouble with indigo too and realized I just didn't have much so I went shopping at bought 4 different fat quarters - 3 indigo and 1 dark purple.

    I just skipped the indigo and did some orange foxes! But I guess I will have to find some indigo to make the asterisk with. (whenever I end a sentence with a preposition i think of that fabulous Designing Women piece. Julia asked a client where she was from. The client replied she was from somewhere they did not end sentences in prepositions. To which Julia replied, so, Where are you from, B****! )

    It's always fun to see your flamingos! I have trouble distinguishing blue, purple and indigo... even though it is part of ROYGBIV.

    Indigo! What a great way to start the day! With colour! and Google!
    "as well as one of the seven colors of the rainbow: the color between blue and violet"
    Then I looked up the words to that song I used to sing as a kid....
    "I Can Sing A Rainbow. Red and yellow and pink and green, Purple and orange and blue. I can sing a rainbow, Sing a rainbow, You can sing one too!"
    No sign of Indigo in that rainbow song!

    I love flamingos and I wish we had some opf this wonderful birds here too. many thanks for sharing the secrets of indigo with me... the next jeans will be an indigo, that's for sure :o)

    What a great block and usage of scraps! Sometimes it seems we need challenges like finding indigo among the blues and purples to stretch our creativity. I wonder if you hadn't would you have found that feather, or used spacey fabric in such a novel way? They're great!

    That would be a tough one for me too - colour is so subjective. I often see things as more green that others would see as blue. I initially would have thought of Indigo as a red puprle but thats more violet, in the rainbow seems to fit with blue purple better but really hard to pin it down - I think you did a great job with your scraps.

    Gorgeous blocks! I know I digress, but the color of the ocean is so finicky, and in moments can change from indigo to aquamarine to nearly black. This rocks!

    Hum, I always thought indigo was a really deep blue -- darker than navy. Oh well, glad to get the correct answer. PS I need to send you a note from the email you sent me...

    These flamingos are just wonderful!!! Indigo is a really hard colour .....recently started dyeing with indigo and the spectrum of colours it produces is huge!
