Hmmm this is really a challenge for me, not for lack of blue scraps because that pile will apparently never be used up.The challenge with colors for me is that when a color is chosen, I use all shades and tints of that color in my blocks.
When I saw this "swiss cheese" piece of remnant I started to get happy!!
A teapot!
I also happen to love aqua and red, so the teapot is in those colors.
Notice the woman is a wee bit chubby, and is reading and is walking a poodle.
Viola! Another self portrait! lol
This scrap led me to some cups...
When you want to fussy cut an emblem for a block it takes some finagling because the scrap is just so big... and the pattern is just so big.... and the challenge here is for ascrapaholic like myself to allow for waste.
There's going to be some waste.
Remember when we all made clothes from a pattern, cut around the pattern... and THREW away the rest of the fabric??? Didn't seem to bother me then.
I wasn't a quilter yet.
The snippets can be used in a floor pillow. Even the tiniest will work.
ReplyDeleteLove your cups and the lady with her (wannabee) poodle. I think it's a dashound in a costume. Anyway, it makes a very handsome teapot.
Keep up the good work.
Hugs
yeah, a wannabee poodle. Well, who wouldn't want to be a poodle really??
DeleteMorning tea, evening tea, we could probably drink tea all day and chat when it comes to that! A lovely tea set today!
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Joanne

Such cute blocks, what fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great new word: ascrapaholic. Yes, I do remember throwing what amounted to yards and yards of scraps after cutting out a pattern that i wish i had back now.
ReplyDeletevery cute tea cups!! and blue and red is always look great together.
ReplyDeleteWe NEVER threw away scrapes at my house. We put all the little ones inside the biggest piece and rolled it up and put a pin in it and it went in a drawer in my mom's room. When it came time to make Barbie clothes to sell or gifts for mother's day, we went shopping the scrap drawer.
ReplyDeleteLove your tea reader. Charming!
OMG! where do you ever find these fabulous pieces?
ReplyDeleteWe never threw out any fabric, either. EVER. 'Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without.' Nowadays that's phrased as 'Reduce, reuse, recycle', I guess...
ReplyDeleteLove the teaset!
What a perfect afternoon - a brief walk, a good book, and tea. Your tea set is adorable as usual. Where do you find those delicious fabrics.
ReplyDeleteLove that teapot! She and I could be sisters. And we usually threw out the scraps from clothes unless they were large. Just not a lot you could do with the weird shapes that weren't that useful. Even my very frugal grandmother would throw out a lot of them. Given the fabrics that we used, I'm glad we don't have them any more!
ReplyDeleteI suspect I have been a squirrel all my life. Perhaps it's because we were actually quite financially challenged when I grew up. Anyways, I never, ever threw out the pattern OR the fabric after dress making. I must say I am a little more ruthless with non-quilting fabric these days. LOL
ReplyDeleteYour teapot and cups are very cute.
Very cute! Love the way you are always able to incorporate the fabric motif in the piece! Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteyour lady fabric is just so "Cute," you always amaze me I never would have picked red to go with it. But you always go bright, it makes it so much more fun!
ReplyDeleteThat teapot is so stinking cute. Love it!!
ReplyDeleteYou sound like me. I used to make my clothes. Tossed those scraps, Wasn't a quilter then.
ReplyDeleteLOVE those prints. Sweet little teapot and cups.
Love the teapot and the cups! It must be fun to play with those nice colours and prints.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute teapot and teacups! The fabric colors really blend well!
ReplyDeleteI love your fussy cut teapot-so cute! And blue teacups---my favorite color!
ReplyDeleteAre you sure that isn't a dachshund in a poodle costume?
ReplyDeleteLove the moon and sun mugs! Thanks for the comment on my blog.
ReplyDeleteYes, its HARD to throw scraps away!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I also love aqua and red together!
ReplyDeleteQuite agree that we should save it all - wasn't so expensive back in the day! Love the teapot and the fussy cut! Thank you for sharing with us at #scraptastictueday!
ReplyDeleteI have that reading fabric, too, but mine is on a pink ground. Really looking forward to seeing all these "tea" blocks together in the future!
ReplyDeleteI always love your fussy cutting!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving this series - that is a great piece to fussy cut for the teapot!

ReplyDeleteColleen @ piecemakerquilts.wordpress.com/
such great blocks! The lady in the teapot could be me, if the poodle was a rabbit!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely adorable stacked teacups! I never remember my mom throwing any fabric scraps away and I take after her. I have a swing room to prove t.
ReplyDeleteThe name of the book should be "Tea Leaves" then she could be "Reading Tea Leaves" ...just a wild thought that went thru my head
ReplyDeleteI love both of your paper pieced blocks! and I love Amy Art Quilters comment that the name of the book should be Tea Leaves!
