welcome to this week's creativity round-up starting with evening handwork on hexie spiral in pink
being sewn together one hexie at a time!
First the fabric work this week, usually pink scraps for RSC
used tiny scraps to build a book cover (it will be quilted then folded in half)
lots of blocks made for the "parts dep't"
and sewing this way calms me
now the parade of sketchbook work... sometimes I paint the lesson on watercolor paper, and glue it into the sketchbook. I had limited bandwidth internally to do all the lessons started, but hope to eventually catch up before the season is over. On with the show
play with stamps and inks
what a fun technique starting with rolling a paint loaded brush on watercolor paper
crinkle squeeze watercolor paper
ink the fold lines then use tombow markers (water soluble) to color in, I also used pan inks to paint in
then for fun inked over some shapes
oh how I like this artists work.... (D. Gregory) who paints, writes over it to create a journal of memoriesI still need to write about being 18 and spending countless hours at the beach to heal and find myself
I'll write over the blue area. This will be one of my best lessons, as it will allow words to join the party
pink tulips for pink month
my snoopervisor drying off after rain/snow flurry freak storm
again he reminds me our choices in direction shape our lives
sent from my friend Sonja in Hawaii.... we share life from a distance

Looks like you're having fun!
ReplyDeleteLots of pretty things happening here, I particularly like the pink hexie spiral.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing peeks into your art journals!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your crinkled paper watercolor! Hi Alfie!
ReplyDeleteThe technique of crinkling the paper and then painting - so interesting. It's a beautiful stain glass look.
ReplyDeleteI love the crinkled paper piece - it does remind me of stained glass. I would think it was great fun to create. I don't often 'see' things in paintings like that but I did in this one....on the left, the little green circles and the blue and green look like a scarf...lady's side view of a face to the right....wearing a green hat (the bell shape above) and then the purple on the lower left looks like her shoulder and part of her top. Do you see it too?
ReplyDeleteThe crinkled paper piece reminds me of the squiggle drawing I used to do with my kids. They loved it and we had great fun. Improve geese make me happy too. Enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteChecked out your post as just the right time. I'm taking an in person class on tapping into your creativity. I thought it would be a combination of discussion and in class assigned projects. Close, but so far we have had to set our class project with zero guidance and perhaps nothing more than scrap paper tossed in the center of the table. This week I will come prepared thanks to your crinkled paper and water color project. Love that. Feels like stained glass. You have inspired me.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing all your arting and sewing for the past few days. I am slowly sewing everyday, and it feels good!
ReplyDeleteThose pink hexieds are soooo cute. LOVE the splash of color.
ReplyDeleteCute pink hexies, and is this little house a pincushion? Lovely flying geese too. Your drawings and paintings are beautiful, crinkle paper looks fun! Thank you for sharing your art and linking up.
ReplyDeleteI just love your hexie spirals, LeeAnna - this one is pretty in pink! Looks like you're enjoying the sketchbook work, too. It's so fun how you draw each of the teachers and write some notes about them!
