I Like Thursday # 501 phones, love 'em or not

welcome to a very short post of likes this week... starting with tulips!

I LOVE tulips and these neighbors' are pretty in purple to pinks

It's been nearly too hot to walk this week, but I have a couple photos...

(Alfie:  well, it is hot and one might think the mama would appreciate her poodle reminding her to stop and smell the roses! Of course while we stop I'll be smelling the trees and grass to check my pee-mail)

the higher peaks got a bit of snow which you can't see well in this photo.... but we have temps in mid 80's plus sun heat. Some people like it hot, I'm not one of them

LOVE a good shadow photo

conversation starter this week:

For National telephone day,  what is your relationship with phones? lol

always have it with you? Check it at intervals or use it mainly for calls? Remember when there was one phone for the family hanging on the wall? Remember party lines? Do you use a phone as a computer even tho the screen is so small? Fave apps on the phone?

I do not like my phone. I loved my prior phone but it was no longer supported. I do not carry it around all the time, I am not constantly scrolling on it. It's too small to see the screen well. It does not take good photos. I have a music app so I can hear 70's songs on my walks.

I grew up with a party line, and it was so weird to hear other people talking. We had a dial phone that sat on a phone table in the hall. Then when I was in high school I got an princess phone in my room but my mother made it her life's work to listen in on all my calls anyway.

In my first apt, I had a wall phone in the kitchen,,, the cord was always twisted up like my neck from holding it while I cooked.

I have a computer and an ipad for looking up stuff, so I really like to use my phone for calls.

does that make me old?

reading :

very funny, fun read, real life dialogue

listening on audio in the studio

reading on Ebook

watching survivor, finishing Emily in Paris, looking forward to Brokenwood, Virgen river, (believe it or not, Farmer wants a wife)

I'm loving the lessons in Sketchbook Revival, drawing and painting again is awesome

We were to think of ourselves in some part of life, paint a selfie, and write about the memories over it...
so far I drew the teacher, and my memory of being a teen at the beach and am thinking about what to write, hoping I don't make an ink splot on the painting

Alfie, do you have likes to add?
Alfie: sure do Mamacita. I like sleeping on my big boy bed instead of in a kennel, and keeping an eye on you all night. I like nipping at your hands, and daddy's hands to get you to play with me in our yard, I liked seeing the nice couple who stopped to chat and might, not sure, like their chihuahua Burito.
I like running up and down the stairs and if mama's there I always beat her both up and down! I'm loving it in this family!!!

  1. We love the tulips too! I only take my cell phone with me when I'm driving - just in case I need AAA. I can remember listening in on calls when we had a party line and that was YEARS ago. We are so happy that you are loving your new life with your new family, Alfie!

  3. I have my phone in my pocket or purse all the time. I do use it but I am not on it constantly. My family texts or messages a lot but rarely make a phone call. I use my phone for almost everything I keep health info on it daily BP readings, grocery lists, I check facebook too much, I check and answer email on it. I read news on it, listen to music and books. I turn it to vibrate in buildings like doctors offices, library that kind of thing I don't like to listen to other peoples conversations and don't like it when the person next to you is taking care of their life business's while sitting next to you and you can't move.

  4. Our son and DIL have beautiful tulips growing along their house entrance walkway. I can;t grow them as the deer where we live gobble them up. We had a black "Ma Bell" rotary phone on a little table when I was growing up...I'm really old...LOL. I have a Samsung cell phone--had to get a new one recently as my old one was getting hot and not charging well. I do like looking up things on Google the way I used to use encyclopedias! :)

  5. Those are such pretty tulips! I'm with you - the phone is too small to do much on, although I don't mind texting. Alfie looks so happy and healthy - I bet he loves so many things about life at your house. Happy Thursday - maybe a cooler weekend is in store for us!

  6. I love tulips, too. We had a dutch professor in college; his family had a tulip farm in Holland. Each year we planted new varieties and waited to see them bloom. Love the pup and his growing into his wonderful home!

  8. I love tulips too. My girlfriend cut a few coral colored ones last week and brought them to me as a belated birthday gift. So pretty!! When I was a kid we had a party line, and the other party was an elderly couple who spoke German with most everyone they talked to. LOL When my girls were teens we added a "teen line" to our landline because it seemed they lived on the phone. I do carry my cell phone around a lot, as it's my only way to actually communicate these days. And it takes pretty decent photos. Favorite phone apps - LOL!! I use my Weight Watchers app to track food, and use Facetime to chat with the grandkids.

  9. SOME REALLY NICE BONUSES TO MAKE YOUR WEEK GREAT. THE TULIPS ARE A FAVORITE. AND THEN THERE IS SURVIVOR..WE ENJOY THIS SHOW EVEN THOUGH SOMETIMES THE ONE SENT HOME IS ONE THAT I WANTED TO STAY. PHONES? I ALSO GREW UP HAVING A LINE PHONE WITH OTHER PEOPLE ON THE SAME LINE. THAT WAS NOT FUN, BUT IT SURE HAS MEMORIES. I THINK IN AM A LITTLE TOO ATTACHED TO MY CELL PHONE. IT WOULD BE NICE JUST TO HAVE A DAY A WEEK WHEN I DIDN'T HAVE TO EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. LOL.. GREAT TO STOP BY HERE TODAY.

  12. I have a cell phone but only use it once a month when we arrive at the grocery store and call in to let them know we're there for curbside pickup. I use it as a form of insurance and know that if I need it, I have it. It's a really basic phone and the cheapest plan I can find. I really don't understand the mindset of people that need to have them in their hands at all times and can't manage to walk down the street without talking or scrolling on them. If somebody wants me, they can call the landline and leave a message if I'm not there.

  13. I keep my phone in the pocket of my leggings, which is part of my "at home uniform". I am always outside and my daughter calls me at least 3-4 times per day. lol I enjoy it, so I can't miss her calls. Alfie is looking very handsome. I know he is receiving the best of care! Thank you for linking up.
