i like thursday # 432

welcome to a short list of likes this week starting with a vintage Santa card I painted from a tutorial

I love vintage 40's and 50's

I love seasonal kitchen towels and flamingos so... had to purchase these two from Khols

tried to make thumbprint cookies my recipe uses half almond flour and it lovely and crumbly, with all natural raspberry seedless jelly

it was ALL good til they spread in baking this time
no I'm not on pinterest obviously but they still taste delicious. Wonder why they spread and ran this time?

Our Prompt

did you ever receive a gift as a child/teen that you really wanted and were totally excited to receive? tell us about it. If not, have you ever gotten a great gift at Christmas?

I was in grade 10 and really wanted a minnie mouse watch. My sister Patti gave me one and I was so happy, wore it most every day.

One year I wanted a keyboard and gave a lot of hints to dh who is generous but gift choice impaired. He got one for me and I was so happy to have successfully sent the hints

forgive me, things are not good healthwise and emotionally missing my beautiful boy Milo.  this will be short but sending loving thoughts to you all who mean so much to me. I considered adopting a small dog from puppy mill rescue... they are older dogs who have never been loved, been in a small crate their lives and need love. Maybe not now, but maybe ...

  1. Wonder if it would've helped to refrigerate the cookies before baking. I've heard that keeps chocolate chip cookies from spreading so much. We're busy around here too. Fed 12 adults & 2 kids for two days then whittled it down to 10 for a couple days. Down to 4 of us for the next couple days then back to 7 & 9 before the holidays are over. I'm bushed so not posting. Can barely read blogs. Happy New Year to you and DH.

  2. I've never tried to make thumbprint cookies, so I have no suggestions! Good they were still tasty, that's the important thing, LOL!

  5. I love your vintage Santa! His cheeks are perfect. The flamingo towels are fun, too! Your cookies may not be Pinterest perfect, but I bet they were yummy anyway. A rescue dog would be in heaven to live at your house - when you're ready! Sending good thoughts and hugs to you.

  6. That Minnie Mouse watch sounds like such a sweet and thoughtful gift, and it must have been so exciting to get exactly what you hoped for! It’s always special when gifts hit just the right mark. ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ€

  7. I know you miss Milo dreadfully, but I think you should wait on the rescue dog a while. After winter has passed would be a better time as you could get outside more. Happy New Year to you and Drew. Take care of yourself.

  8. I've never made thumbprint cookies but I've eaten them lots of times! My most favorite Christmas gift, back in the day, was my first bicycle!

  11. Oh Leeanna, I am just now catching up with you after the holidays and my heart is aching for you after finding out that you have lost Milo. You gave that sweet boy a beautiful life and even though it was cut short, it was full of love and joy. I am so sorry. Sending you big hugs and much love. x K

  12. I don't think it matters what they look like, it's what they taste like that matters. I really feel for you losing Milo. I know how I felt when I lost Stan even though we already had Daisy he was such a lovely dog and I still miss him now two years later but young Alfie is helping. They become such an important part of our lives. I read somewhere that said "A dog is the one creature that loves you more than they love themselves" Sending hugs Angela xXx

  14. I'm sorry that you lost your Milo, Leanna! We never forget beloved pets we have lost, even if we get new ones. My mother made thumbprint cookies many times, but she always used jam, not jelly. Wishing you a happy new year.

  15. I'm so sorry about your Milo, he was far too young. I lost my boy at just over 8 years old to lymphoma, and it SUCKS. Hang in there.

I love Allison Kraus and Yo Yo Ma is always good. Thank you for sharing that.
