I'm in the middle of a wonderful art online course (free) so will spend a moment sharing a few pics of my recent paintings. This is a sort of halloween-y magical vase... swirling with gold and watercolor paint

Our prompt this week is: have you been on a hayride? tell us the stories!
I've been on a few and liked all of them. One in particular was in Tenn. during my college year at Lee College. A lovely young man from the Honduras asked me to accompany him. So sweet, kind, cute. We snuggled into the hay sort of reclining to see the stars. Gently swaying a bit, the scent of hay fresh and clean, the sky unbelievably clear without human lights.
We chatted about our lives, our college experience (a Christian college) and our hopes for the future. We held hands, and were silent. Others around us did the same. I think we were all in AWE of the beauty that night held. It was peaceful, and I've had not too much peace in my life. We shared the moment grateful to spend it together.
We never dated again for some reason, and I only spent one year at that college, returning to finish my degree at the university of S. Fl. so we lost touch. He rode back to school with me after the Christmas break, and I remember we had some kind of sugar shortage going on so he brought us a large bag of it!

we love the bunny... and we love the poodle in the jar ... the mama had immediately the ole tin lizzy song in her head and she replaced the whiskey with the poodle... oh my ;o)

Milo with the jar reminds me of my daughter's first dog - he loved to get the nearly empty peanut butter jar. I've been on a couple of hayrides in jr high and high school with the church youth groups. They were fun. And I'm happy to say my relatives and a HS friends living in Florida have all check in safely. We had dinner out with friends last night. The husband has a 96 year old mother living in middle Florida. But he wasn't too worried, as her condo complex in rated for Cat 5. Still would have worried me!

ReplyDeleteMilo made me smile and someone else mentioned the song 'Whiskey in the jar', well I was singing that too.
Now, hayrides. I've never ever heard of anything like it, but it sounds sooo romantic! I had never seen the stars having grown up in the cloudy Netherlands. But then in southern Italy I saw the starry firmament for the first time and I cried. My sister-in-law (who was there) didn't understand why I was so moved.
It's bad in Florida. I saw it on the news.

Wonderful paintings! Love Milo and the almond butter jar - I am sure he loved it. I must have taken a hayride, but no real memories of one.
