I LIke Thursday # 409

today it's hard to just list likes as if nothing is happening. Do you know what time it is?

America was formed :to create a Democracy,   no longer ruled by a king,  created so that government was separate from religious belief in order to make it safe for all to worship God the way they choose, and that citizens bond together because we are stronger when we work in unison.

Printable Pledge of Allegiance Words

NO ONE should pit one group of citizens against another.  In order to gain power  a political party in the 1980's, systematically convinced some Americans to hate fellow Americans. They were not working to make our country better or stronger, because working together and compromise is the way to strength.

They wanted power but forgot by splitting us in half, they gave power to other countries. Divide and conquer. I believe by giving all citizens rights, we give rights to ourselves too.

I am grateful for our military who protects our country for Democracy, and our law enforcement who protects us, for teachers who teach truth in government, for people who teach their children to respect others and follow the laws of our country.

No one has the right to have absolutely everything they want all the time. We are a country where majority rules based on a free election.

I never thought when I grew up, putting a hand over my heart and saying the pledge of allegiance, I'd see a group of people bowing to a flag with one man's face on it. Our next door neighbor is flying a flag celebrating the overthrow of our very constitutional government. If a person seeks to destroy our constitution, they should not pretend to celebrate the America founded long ago, especially with fireworks.

America is a place of law and order, and no one, NO ONE is above those laws.

We fought for independence from a king with ultimate power over us.

No one should be pitting one group against another if they want what's best for America.

I am grateful that for most of my life, I got to live in a country that protected it's citizens.

I cannot be more grateful than that today. Thank you for reading my words.

  3. Well said that woman. I hope your words reach a wide audience. Countries around the world seem to be facing similar problems of political division, disrespect for each other among their citizens, and political aspirationals with no leadership qualities.

  4. Take care of yourself today, LeeAnna - play with Milo, pet some fabric, and enjoy a good meal with Drew. We're going to survive this time - I have to believe that.

  5. Food for thought on this Independence Day, for sure.

  6. Little Penguin said pretty much what I was thinking. We will get past this. I have to believe it.

  7. LeeAnna, it's all going to be OK. The last I checked our government has not been overthrown so how can someone fly a flag celebrating such? Please take a deep breath, pat Milo on his sweet curly head, grab your paints & colors, and enjoy the freedoms our country has bestowed on all of us. Happy 4th of July! ❤️πŸ§¨πŸ—½

    1. There is a slow moving coup in this country and we all need to be awake to it and we only to vote. These radicals are just getting started and I want my country back! I want women's rights back! I want civility and unity back!

  8. It’s OK to not be OK! I feel much the same as you! I’m glad you were able to put your thoughts here. One of our most precious rights- free speech! I hope that it will be alright! I have to believe that it will! I have grandchildren and great grandchildren that need it to be a safe and prosperous country! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ—½

  9. Susie, that flag stands for revolution, and is being used by the subgroup of Americans who promote violent overthrow of our constitution

  10. I agree with you 100%. I've had to shut off the television lately because I just can't take it! We don't want a king or a dictator. We want women's rights back. We're going backwards. I'm trying to remain calm. Let's hope it all works out. Happy 4th!

  12. Dear LeeAnna, you know I share your grief and, dare I say rage, at what is happening to our country. I have not been able to return anyone's Happy 4th of July wishes, because there's nothing to be happy about. Our self-serving Congressmen (and women) and the self-serving Supreme Court seem to be determined to allow a narcissitic and emotionally immature person destroy 250 years of history. What will make people wake up before it is too late.

  13. No one is above the law, unless per the bought and paid for court you're donnie john. I am beyond disgusted. I'm angry, afraid and repulsed. I didn't feel like going to the fireworks last night and celebrating. I just don't understand how people don't realize what's happening. Nazi Germany wasn't that long ago, how is it that people don't see the similarities between Hitler and trumpie dump.

  14. I believe in the power of democracy and pray that our structure that has always survived for so long continues to flourish, despite those who don't appreciate and work against all the good we have been given.
